THIS is what I have been living for… seeing our soldier boy in his ROK camo get-up. And he is even more handsome than I ever expected. Oh. My. Word. *must be professional, cannot swoon*
Please note, everyone, that there is really no need to be concerned over new recruit JiHoon’s change of posture from what we’re used to. Why do I say this? Because it is JiHoon who has enlisted, not Rain.
This is that wonderful inner guy that we all love as much as we love his alter ego, and this isn’t a movie or a drama set. He’s a real soldier, and soldiers are hard. They don’t walk around all KPop-ish and celeb-ish and grinning and jovial most of the day, especially when they’re in assembly. They simply don’t because it’s not natural. Their environment is one of serious patriotic pride. They don’t slouch; they use everything about their bodies and posture to convey that pride, from their faces to their feet.
They are serving their nation with their lives and that’s about as real as it gets.
JiHoon is A-okay. Please don’t think there is anything wrong with him.

Honestly, I’m surprised Bi’s hair is not really, really buzzed. They must have let him keep some of it for his last concert. Usually the guys are cut damned near bald, aren’t they? Oh well! To be honest there’s some kids in this country who could benefit from Army discipline. Kids today….well….I can’t say much more without offending, but. I will say kids today could benefit from some OLD SCHOOL….”schooling” on MANY LEVELS!

I have been at Cloud USA almost simultaneously when I was at SixtoFive1982. Honestly, Cloud USA was “calling” to me, but you were my very first comrade at SixtoFive1982. I always remembered that. This is where I post mainly and also BWLB. Other places…um YT, FB sometimes. But that’s it. I’m not a techie (wish I was moreso, but….).
Bi getting an honorary discharge would be great, but I don’t think it’ll happen and knowing more about him now. I don’t think he would do it if he could DNETTA. (SMILES) Like Terri said in another post, he’s a classic overachiever (SMILES). Hope to see you more at Cloud USA! (SMILES)

Damn I almost swoon looking at this picts!! Good Lord he looks absolutely GEORGEOUS!!! Now that I understand better what was going on in that meeting I understand the worry I see in his eyes. He wanted to know where he was going. I hope is a place that he’s somewhat pleased to go, given that is a military facility. I am glad to see this picts so soon. You can see in his fellow recruits that he’s becoming a leader already! Bless his good heart cuz if he’s tense and worried you know these kids must be terrified and lost. Rain looks tired, tense, worried but in control so I feel a bit better. We are not out of the woods yet but is a good start. Please ROK military keep us posted about Rain so his family, friends and we us can see him and feel a bit
better.

he look sround as well i gosh our man learn quit much after a few week coming and he welkl served his best just watching the vid his face all stright to razio look and u can tell rain are doing his job who called KOR Troop keep your head up rain and stay HAPPY healthy and strong day by day i am counting on your 21 month after 5 week done he sure stand out among everybody too 🙂

Great words and very encouraging. I am a fan of both Rain and another star who is enlisted. The first pics of my star after boot camp were very upsetting. I remember being shocked by how thin he had become. You are right, army service is not a picnic and it is meant to make men out of all who go through it. Rain will do very well, as has my star. Both are good, kind, strong men (both mentally and physically) and will make South Korea proud. Keep Rain in your prayers always, they are the best gift a soldier can ever receive. Awww, I really liked Hero too. It was a drama with a very sweet heart. Too bad it was up against IRIS. Don’t get me wrong, I loved IRIS but because of that, Hero didn’t have a chance. Jun Ki is very funny and he has great comic timing too. I just finished watching Plan B and almost fell out of my chair when Bi did BATMAN!!! His comic ability is terrific also. As far as more music from Jun Ki…… I don’t know. He is doing some stuff for the military shows right now. Performances with Epic High and Mithra Jin. I’m not a fan of rap at all but when the Korean boys do it, it doesn’t bother me as much. I could post a link for you of one of the performances if you like.
I will tell you that I have been really grateful that Jun Ki has been participating in entertainment duties. We have been able to see him more often and he’s even been able to indulge in an old love, radio broadcasting, with his radio show on Friends FM. He was also in Los Angeles CA a few weeks ago with the Korean Military Symphony Orchestra for the Korean Festival there. He also is doing USO type shows for the soldiers in South Korea. It’s been great for him and I hope that Bi will have a chance to do the same. We’ve been able to see more of him than we ever dreamed and I hope all of you will be able to see more of Bi too!! I am sure the time has gone by much more quickly for Jun Ki because of his super busy schedule. I will keep Bi in my prayers and am hoping for an assignment that will keep him safe and allow all of his precious Clouds to see him more often than they ever thought they would.

I agree! I really wish Hero hadn’t been up against IRIS. Total bummer. But oh well, it’s didn’t stop JunKi from shining anyway. Haha.
I am currently watching Fugitive for the third time LOL! Or is the the fourth? I just can’t help it. JiWoo is my favorite TV role Rain has done and I just don’t get tired of that show. Oh yeah, LOL @ the Batman thing. Good grief, Rain. LOL That’s a favorite part of mine. The whole drama is really helping me when it comes to missing him.
Unless the MMA is just plain dumb (and I doubt that seriously) they are going to milk having Rain at their disposal for all it’s worth. He’s going to be in so much stuff for the military, I will bet my bottom dollar because that’s how they think, how can we look cool and make the best of our good luck at having this talent right here? They have celebs making movies, singing, entertaining, and everything just like JunKi was able to do. Anyone thinking that National Treasure Rain is going to just “disappear” for two years behind a fence or something boggles my mind. I don’t get it.

I so look forward to the day when he and Rain and Heechul and HyunBin and ALL the celebs are out and returned to their chosen professions and fans, and most of all for the day when there is complete peace on the Korean peninsula and there is no need for a draft at all.

And yes, the military will do what they need to do in order to keep a good face on military service and they want famous, recognizable faces doing the job. But these men bust their butts while they are serving. Boot is tough. But imagine that your life is going EXACTLY as you always hoped it would, imagine that your dream is coming true, and you have to put it on hold for 2 years. You are no longer your own person and you cannot do as you wish, when you wish. It must be frustrating. But in spite of that it has been a joy to see these celebrities, these “softie boys”, kicking ass and taking names during their service. Jun Ki alone has attained many marksmanship awards and even received the Directors award at the end of boot. (the only celeb to do so, or so we have been told) He is now Squad Leader, as evidenced by the bright green shoulder boards that he wears. We are very proud of his achievements. I am sure Bi has some in his future as well. I wish him great success and a sense of achievement that he has not felt before. I saw the video of the line up a few minutes ago……… He is a freakin’ colossus compared to the other soldiers around him. We know how how much drive and determination he has. I have no doubt he will excel in all he does.

Yes, it really frustrates me for people who haven’t chosen the military as their calling to practically be forced into it, after moving heaven and earth to be successful in their chosen lives. I am the daughter of a man who chose military life, and I’m very proud of my dad for making other people’s safety his priority in such a hard profession, and so it is painfully obvious to me that that’s the whole point — you should choose it, not have it choose you. That said, it’s also pretty inspiring to see our idols jumping right in there and showing that they are just as tough as anybody else, that they can and will defend their country if need be. JunKi a top marksman and squad leader… WOW. 🙂
I’ve no doubts Rain will do well. Really well. He’s so mentally strong. And he’s trained as a stunt man! I suspect some recruits are already looking up to him as Big Brother Role Model as we speak, heheh.

OH!!! Also….. if you like the beret….. you should be really happy. The army just changed the uniform back in April or May. We spent a year looking at Jun Ki underneath the brim of a ball cap. It was so wonderful to FINALLY see his whole face when they switched to the beret. And it seems the “boys” also prefer the new pixilated uniforms too. And I am sure that the Army will cut Bi’s hair much shorter too. Get used to change because there are going to be lots of them. But it’s all going to be ok. Aja-Aja BI FIGHTING!!!

So you are a military kid. That is awesome!! My uncle also was a career military man. Here in the U.S. we are so fortunate that our military is all volunteer. And I also am very proud to see these idols stepping up to the challenge and serving their country proudly. Part of me (and it’s a pretty big part) is starting to think that mandatory military service here in the States would be beneficial for our young men. So many are so ungrateful for all of the advantages and freedoms they have. They don’t truly understand the meaning of sacrifice. Military service matures a man and makes him stronger both mentally and physically. I am so grateful to all of our military men and women and all allied soldiers for defending our most precious resource….. Freedom. Please tell your father Thank You from me. And also thank you to your family. The families of service men and women also sacrifice so much. And for those sacrifices I am truly grateful.

I will say, though, that while some discipline would be good for a lot of our young men (seriously!), I’m pretty sure I would rise up and storm the Capitol Building in D.C. if they dared make the military mandatory without war being brought to our shores by someone. I don’t want to see the same situation that breaks my heart in Korea happening over here, to anyone. I myself am not soldier material, and I would highly resent being made to bring my writing career to a stop (or see my son’s career coming to a stop) because of mandatory service, were I eligible. Now, that’s not to say we wouldn’t pick up a weapon and put a hurting on an enemy that suddenly came in here and tried to storm our neighborhood. Without hesitation, we would. But that’s a whole different situation, not the same as serving for serving’s sake. Know what I mean?
Do give my regards to your uncle. As far as I’m concerned, he and your family are our family.

I’m not an expert on South Korean military workings but I believe the computer assignment that happened the other day was for basic training only. Once basic is complete I believe a soldier is assigned according to that individual soldiers aptitude. I don’t think they would make a sharp shooter be an army cook for the duration of his service. And it seems that some soldiers are offered choices as to where they can go. I feel the same a Stephe, I’m sure Bi will be assigned (read ordered) to the entertainment division. But who knows he may choose to remain as an active duty regular soldier. I feel he can best serve his country as the face of South Korean military service. All of the stars who have gone in, at one time or another, are interviewed and during that interview they say “Do not delay, military service will make you a better man.” I do hope that they will assign Bi to DEMA. I don’t think it would benefit the South Korean military to have a HUGE idol, who has helped spread South Korea across the world, to get shot off of a wall. Hopefully, basic training is the most dangerous thing he will do while he serves. Health and Happiness. Love to All.
