The Hollywood Reporter on Rain’s “Final” Pre-Military Press Event

~ Cloud Cover by Terri :-}, Managing Editor

Way over here in the U.S.A., it’s always extremely difficult for us to find Rain news, but ever since the news hit that Rain’s military enlistment was a go on October 11, news about him has been everywhere—in the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The L.A. Times, some teeny, tiny newspaper in Topeka, Kansas—you freaking name it.  Everywhere, I say.

And now tonight I discover that Rain has even been featured in The Hollywood Reporter.  Really, U.S.  Media?  REALLY?  You do know that you’re trying to catch the train long after it has left the station, don’t you?  Sigh.

I was so irritated at seeing this that I almost didn’t even post about it, but then I thought, No, Terri, our Cloud readers are gonna wanna read it anyway, and if you don’t post it here, someone might miss it.  So here it is, Clouds—The Hollywood Reporter’s take on Rain at his Flight: Close to the Sun Press Conference in Busan.

  2. First, I want to point out that Rain look so freakin handsome in the close up pic!!!!! How can someone look so amazing so close up? He looked so hot in all the pics I have seen so far!!!! I love to see him in a suit. The suit he wore I just loved so much!!!! I love his hair like this, so darn sexy!!!! This is definitely one of my favorite looks of his.

Second, why did they call the movie Soar? Did the movie title change?

Third, I do feel it is frustrating sometimes when it takes
news like Rain going into the MS for the US to talk about him. However, on the positive side they are talking about him. And the article did talk about him being in the movie nicely. So I see it at this moment great exposure for his acting career. So if the move does well hopefully this will help his career in Hollywood when he gets out of MS.

    • Hi, flower. 🙂

You know how 여자 yeoja has several meanings (woman, women, girl, female, lady, she, etc?) Well, 비상 (飛上) bisang (bisang) translates in several ways too, depending on who’s doing the translating. It’s strictly a Korean movie with a Korean/Chinese title (비상 (飛上): 태양가까이). The Korean title is the only official title; it doesn’t have official titles in English or other languages, so no, the title has not changed. It just translates differently in English depending on who’s doing the translating out here. It’s all the same meaning. Flight, Emergency Flight, Soar, Take Off… get it?

      Stephe ^@@^

  3. Like Bia I wasn’t expecting to see Rain’s military duty being talked about either. On one hand it’s nice to see the US talking about him. However I do understand how frustrating it is that it takes this for them to take notice. 😦

  7. I’m surprised they are reporting about him at all in Any of our publications, to be honest. At least they are still talking about him….that’s a good thing. It probably has more to do with the fact that Korean men have to go serve, famous or not. It’s all about the military. You know the U.S. is about the military. We no longer have the draft, so this part of Rain’s “story” is what’s intriguing to the American media. Maybe….I don’t know.
