[article] Revisiting 2010: Rain and KPoppers make a splash in Preview Magazine.
— Written by: Stephe Thornton, Managing Editor ^@@^
Remember this, KPop and Rain fans, from back last Christmas?
Preview Magazine’s focus article Living Color: Snap, Crackle, Pop—why the red-hot East Asian pop music movement is more than just a flash in the pan, published in its December 2010 issue.
This article was an introductory but well-written piece on why people definitely needed to take Korean Pop Music seriously, and included information on Rain, the Wonder Girls, 4Minute, 2PM, SNSD, Big Bang, f(x), C.N. Blue, and a host of others artists who were helping to drive the second Hallyu Wave forward.
The way they described Rain was pretty right on. We appreciated the compliments to him.
“His name is Rain: probably the biggest superstar South Korea has ever known, crossover king RAIN (real name: Jung JiHoon) remains the poster boy for the Hollywood rags-to-riches story.”
And:
“The trend continues, with more than ten acts coming to Manila in 2010 alone, a prolific—and sometimes bizarre—list that includes everyone from bubblegum cuties U-Kiss to Hollywood success and industry god and multi-hyphenate Rain.”
Multi-hyphenate indeed! Dancer-singer-actor-designer-producer-spokesperson-ambassador-King of KPop-philanthropist-BadAss-megastar entertainer. Whew! (I keep thinking I’ve left something out…) 😀
