[articles] Korea’s Top Agencies Combine Their Powers.

Very interesting…! And right away, it strikes us as a good thing, as it may mean that a certain someone (with the initials RAIN)  is about to finally get some proper WORLD marketing and distributing of his stuff. Possibly. And maybe get a more international website to match his international fan base? (We can only hope for that one.) We’ll have to see… This is preliminary information. No one can go more in depth about this at the moment (all of the artists this will affect, in exactly what way, what about MBLAQ, etc.), until more information is forthcoming from the Powers That Be, so let’s try not to go off on a hundred-question tear and stay tuned.

(Don’t misread me. Opinions and comments are certainly welcome, as always.)

Korea’s Top Agencies Combine Their Powers

The largest and most successful Korean entertainment agencies representing some of the most well-known faces in Asia are coming together to form the United Asia Management (UAM).

The companies KEYEAST, AME&T, Star J Entertainment, SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment have all made investments to create this inter-Asian branch of themselves. The six k-pop powerhouses all agreed that there was a need for a bigger system where companies can collaborate, cast, and exchange ideas and talents to target the entire Asian market. Thus UAM was born to become a player in the global industry, representing all of Asia.

The collaboration team will not only play the agency role, but also manage portrait rights and intellectual property rights regarding film, drama, video contents creation, celebrity online stores, etc.

UAM will officially start this mid-April, with an already impressive lineup of faces that it represents: Jang Dong-gun, Hyunbin, Shin Mina, Bae Yong-joon, Kim Hyun-joong, Choi Kang-hee, Lee Ji-a, Soo-ae, Kim Nam-gil, BoA, Lee Yeon-hee, Ara, Goo Hye-sun, Kang Hye-jung, Big Bang, Rain, 2PM, and miss A.

Stars to unite for new global management

Hallyu stars will join forces to establish a collaborative agency to target the Asian market. Keyeast, Bae Yong-joon’s management agency, said Friday that six management agencies, AM Ent, Star J, SM, YG, JYP and Keyeast, will combine to launch UAM (United Asia Management) this month.

The six agencies manage stars such as Joo Ji-hoon, Choi Kang-hee, Jang Dong-gun, Hyeon Bin, Sin Min-ah, Soo-ae, BoA, Big Bang, Rain, Wonder Girls, 2PM and miss A.

“UAM consisting of the six agencies is designed to meet the needs of an international agency to lay a foundation for the Asian Wave beyond the Korean Wave and to build networks as well as a casting system within Asia”,Keyeast said.

UAM will play the role of a global agency to manage the artists belonging to the six agencies, working to protect their rights, build a database system via online media and extend more content-based business related to films and dramas.

“The envisioned agency will maximize the business know-how and networks the six agencies have built up with the success of the Asian debuts so far through mutual trust and understanding”, Keyeast said.

  4. This move sounds awesome. It kinda hits you like, Dah! Why not work together to break through the barriers. I look forward to what is to come from their synergies! 🙂

It’s times like this, that I wish JiHoon did not have to go into the military, or at least not for two years… I think of the momentum that he has gained from all of his efforts, and then to not be around when there are finally others, or as more doors begin to open… You know how they say, timing is everything… Well, we just like JiHoon will have to trust that it’s going to be fine, and have faith that JiHoon will have his time, and it will be the perfect for him, when he does. 🙂

    • Agreed, Chisun.

Rain is a man with a plan. I just wish he’d tell us what it was, but part of the fun for him is probably keeping us guessing. It would be for me, anyway.

  5. Gosh, the mastermind behind this project is BRILLIANT!!! Sounds to me that they are making an effort ($$$) to stay together and in that way make a mayor impact in the USA and other countries. You know how it is in any business; money talks, that’s the true. They are planning to get in the building tru the main entrance and with a parade!! Lol!!! I trully hope it works cuz it’s the faster way to get into Holywood’s inner circle. If it works, we are gonna see kpop stars in movies, concerts and CFs. Holly cow!!!!

  6. When I first read about this, my first thought was that it sounds awesome as hell. My second thought was, “Kpop is coming to kick some a_s and take some names!” I’m interested to know how it’s going to work out. It sounds great on paper to put all these extra powerful management companies together. Hopefully they pool their resources and learn something from each company. YG is really good about getting Big Bang info out there. Their blog is updated on the regular with They even posted their last comeback ep on Itunes the same day it was released in Korea. Maybe that will rub off on Rain’s peeps… hopefully.

    • Diva,

That is our fervent hope. Haven’t we been complaining for an entire year about the lack of K-Pop (and Rain) stuff here? I mean we have money to BURN and yet can’t spend it.

Okay, well we don’t have THAT much money to burn, but you get my drift. I mean, hell, the least they could do is get their damned albums on I-Tunes. I mean really.

      • I try not to think of that coz then I get annoyed. YG site even has helpful tips on how to buy stuff for foreigners. Hope Rain’s people learn something.
