From Stephe’s desk: More than just a Tweet.
Look at this Tweet. No… really LOOK at it. The whole thing, message AND new icon change. To us, this is a lot more than just a Tweet.
Together like that, those two separate things make quite the statement. It’s a depth of feeling that we don’t recall ever seeing from JiHoon before, and we hope he knows just how much we appreciate his decision to take a chance and share this kind of thing with his fans.
We’re almost positive that his Twitter icon wasn’t changed from the Paris picture to Raizo’s body before he tweeted the teen picture and poignant message he stumbled across from his younger self. And if that’s true… this graphic packs quite an emotional punch.
This is the present overlooking the past.
He makes the leap here from barely discovered, to one of the most recognized faces in the world. From surviving the hard, unforgiving streets of Seoul, to shining on the world stage. From relative unknown, to having his name in Hollywood lights. From not knowing if he’d ever succeed, to succeeding BIG (the first Korean in history to have a leading movie role in the States). This is what he was then, and what he is now, right next to each other on one page. The very beginning and the very end of his journey to self-validation is here in front of us like the entry in a diary.
When he walked into Grauman’s Chinese Theater for his U.S. premiere, that little kid screamed his triumph.
He has come full circle.

@Stephe thanks for posting this. What you said was so well stated. What you said has rally touched me emotionally. I love Rain so much and hope he continues to be successful in everything he does. He is one person who deserves all the success that comes his way.

It’s moments like these that validate why I’ve become SO TAKEN with him in the first place. HONESTLY, his good looks be damned….it’s WHO HE IS as a person that drew me to him. It’s what draws me to ANYONE in my life. Kindred spirits speak to kindred spirits, it’s what connects like minded human beings. Everyone should self-reflect from time to time in their lives. I know I have…I do. One can only hope that when you do self-reflect, you can say that the world is made better because of your place in it.

Love this post. I feel it’s dead on. JiHoon was definitely in a reflective mood, and I’m sure there is so much going on in his mind. He is 30 years old now (Korean age). He will be leaving for military service this year, and will take the longest period of time off from his career (in his life). He will also be separated from his family and friends. Wow, I’m feeling weird just thinking about it myself. I can only imagine…, and yet he shares a few of his thoughts and the picture with us. JiHoon is such a sweetie
I am so proud of JiHoon, and so thankful that I can be a small part of his journey. As he has succeeded and continues to, it inspires me (and so many others) that good dreams can come true. The only limits are the ones that we allow others to place on us, or that we do to ourselves.

Awwww, yes, that’s true. It’s full circle and what a ride it has been!!! I feel honored to get to know such a beautiful human being. It has been 8 months for me but I feel like I have know him for years. Regarding that old picture of him, Rain was a handsome boy with eyes full of life; i can’t understand how people said no to this boy when is obvious that he wanted to progress and was eager to reach his goals. It just baffles me but I guess that when they see him today; they feel awfully sorry for their errors. Speacially those family members that ignore him when he needed them the most. Ah, told you I was a weeper.

There’s that saying that says a picture is worth a thousand words. This picture summarizes that completely. Not everyone would put this and themselves out there like that…however JiHoon does and I appreciate that and love him so much for it.
