On March 15, at a club in Seoul’s Kangnam-gu, one of the first scenes of the Korean blockbuster film, Red Muffler, was shot.

In this scene, we are introduced to the 21st Combat Wing, whose members have gathered to welcome their newest officer to their fold: Flight Lieutenant Jung Tae Hoon (Rain). Lieutenant Jung tries to charm the group by bragging about a recent adventurous acrobatic flight of his. The only problem is this antic he is so proud of resulted in not only his demotion from the Black Eagles special unit, but also his reassignment to–where? You guessed it: the 21st Combat Wing.

Rain shared his feelings about the recent shoot:

“I play a very fascinating character who takes the lead in dealing with problems in a crisis situation that might soon turn into a war, even though my character is unpredictable. I think we’re off to a good start, because we do agree in tone.”

Directed by Kim Dong-won and produced by Joo Money Entertainment and CJ Entertainment, the film’s line-up also includes Sin Se-kyeong, Yoo Joon-sang, Kim Sung-soo, Lee Hana, Jeong Seok-won and Lee Jong-suk.

Meanwhile, a Hollywood cinematography team specializing in aeronautics has arrived in Korea to assist with the filming. The Hollywood team has helped create Hollywood blockbusters such as Inception, Dark Knight and Con Air, and its involvement with Red Muffler has raised viewers’ expectations for the film.
