[post] Word on the Street: Rain has earned his spot in the CF world.

We don’t publicize what Rain makes on the media blog most of the time, because it’s very easy for people to only see the dollar signs and to forget just how much money he also has going OUT of his pockets.

There are many people (employees, family, stockholders, etc.) who depend on him, and he lives up to the responsibility of providing for them very well. It’s really easy to see the penthouse and all the zeros in Korean won, and to forget how very hard this man physically and mentally works for his money every day.

» You may recall this article from last year, where he amassed at least 21 commercial spots in 2010 alone.

However, there is also a certain amount of pride that comes with the knowledge that JiHoon has indeed worked his way so high up the ladder by sheer strength of will. He deserves to be the 3rd highest paid star for a commercial spot in S.Korea. Period. We’re really excited to see what he’s going to do for Mentholatum China. (And I’m really stoked about Seo Taeji! Awesome.)

And so, we bring you this. 🙂

  2. well, to be honest here Rain in a US commercial (i don’t know).
the US can’t sell anything without using the sex angle, for the mosy part. and for the simplest product. the thing i like about K cfs is they are creative and put thought into their product. they don’t mind shooting in India, Cambodia, Brazil, Austrailia, i mean they just don’t mind. the US cfs are sloppy, and i have yet to buy anything here based on a cf. matter of fact i don’t watch them to much and when they do come on, i mute the tv. but, if Rain does do cfs here, i just hope he will be extremely selective in what he adds his talent too.

  7. So happy for him, this man as worked so hard for so long and has put his career ahead of his personal life just so he and his family will no longer suffer financially again. I can truly identify with this, and I’m just so over joyed for him. And Stephe I agree with you the amount of his income is not important that’s personal, and should not be allowed to be public.

  8. Rain deserves every penny coz I am sure those companies makes a ton of money with those ads. His image is recognize in all Asia and people love him so they are gonna buy products he endorce. Also, those ads are georgeous coz the camera loves Rain and he always looks amazing; he knows how to move, his facial expressions are excellent and at the end is less time for them to do the CF than with anybody else. Soo everybody wins. When he comes to the US I hope companies use him for every CF coz Rain can sell lots of products. Gahhh, plzz underwear, Calvin we need you!!!

    • I agree with you there, Mari. Rain’s endorsers and the places he appears (TV, stage and screen, concert venues, etc.) make a LOAD of money off of his name, and so he should be compensated in kind for that. And he’s one of the best at what he does — there’s nothing he can’t sell or make look good, and no character he can’t pull off. Period. And they know it! 🙂
