[notice] 8th Cloud recruitment scheduled to begin next week.

From the English Talk board on The Korean Cloud fan site today, 2/14/2011:

Dear all,

A quick summary of the Cloud notice today:

8th Cloud registration will start next week, from 21 February until 20 March. It is possible they may extend the period if fans still encounter problems in accessing the website.

Membership fee will be the same as last year. Discounts will be offered to teenagers. For Europe and USA fans,

PAYPAL system has set up to facilitate easier payments! Discounts will be offered to teenagers.

For Asian countries excluding Japan, RAIN forum masters could organize collective registration for their members or individual members could join via the Cloud home page.

They are also seeking feedback on 8th cloud souvenirs. This has been discussed before. Some fans believe it’s good to have meaningful, inexpensive items that bind the artist and the fans together, especially during the gap between the artist’s military service period. Others may have different opinions..

Bank account and other details will be announced soon.

Let’s join the Cloud family and give RAIN our biggest support!

Oh, and a happy Valentine^^

— huhuhuhu

So please stay tuned for the additional details to come as we roll closer to official cloud-dom. Thanks.

  1. I am not totally clear on how Rain fanclub work. I want to ask some questions and I hope I do not sound stupid. So Rain fan club is only in Korea? I mean you may live some where else, like the US but if you want to join, you have to join through Korea? Is there a fan club in the US? Why is it called the 8th Cloud recruitment?

  3. Oh! And about that “one fan club only” thing…

I don’t know if that’s true or not. But that’s over there. THIS is the United States.

  4. My mama always said, “If you have to keep asking yourself, then that’s a NO.” And that has worked amazingly well for me in many areas of my life. Too many doubts or going back and forth meant that I needed to just let whatever go.

If you have too many doubts, just stay/be a Rain fan. Going into anything half-cocked serves no purpose, for you or them.

This is the kind of thing that you need to be gung-ho about and completely comfortable with if you’re gonna do it. Know what I mean? And if you’re not, it is what it is.

    • @Stephe,

I didn’t mean to upset you Babe!……..For me, I have decided, but if the other ladies want to they should go for it. I want any and EVERYBODY who feels comfortable to support Ji-Hoon on the Cloud, all the way. I am still there leaving my messages. It’s all good! (SMILES)

You have to understand…if I end up with the South Korean police knocking on my door, then Mr. BiA will be looking at ME crazy……(SMILES)

      • Oh, and I’m not upset. It just seems like people feel that they need to continually justify why they don’t want to join up, like they’re gonna get shot down or something, when their reasoning is pretty clear to begin with.

        I mean, we get it.

(LOL! Your poor hubby. He’s been christened Mr. BiA by a whole group of people that he doesn’t even know. Heheheh!)

        • @Stephe,

Nope, he doesn’t know. I would have to “cease and desist” if he found out my “call sign.” I need to be free to talk to Bi “like I like.” Hubby may not fully understand. (SMILES) You know if I ever find out Bi Actually Does read those messages on The Cloud or here for that matter……I don’t know how I’d react. Maybe 2 parts Happy/Excited, 1 part Embarrassed…..who knows? (SMILES) I actually have to “restrain” myself over there. I don’t want to offend Bi or his countrymen on their turf. (SMILES) I can say that Whatever I say, be it here or over there, always comes from my gut/heart and always comes with well meaning intentions……ALWAYS!

P.S., Hey you guys Would tell us if Bi reads these messages…..wouldn’t you?…Just a “little” thought. Somehow I hear Bugs Bunny in my mind (*Anh Could Be?*)…….(SMILES)

  5. Everybody raised a big stink with all the SSN business back during the Fugitive days with KBS TV in Korea. That was when the ID # business first came to our attention. Gah, what a BUMMER! 😦 I was like, well, we “ain’t in Kansas anymore.” >__< (I said a few other choice words too LOL) KBS was getting nuthin' from me.

I don't know what The Cloud is going to require. I really don't. It could go either way. They might can't get around it. I'm just saying wait and see and then go from there. Unless someone just isn't into joining regardless, just isn't into it, which makes this thread moot to them anyway.

  6. Seriously! I though they had to have our SS#? If not that ROCKS!!!! Cause I’m so on a up and down with this.

  7. It’s not that The Cloud itself came up with the personal identification rule. It’s the country they live in. It’s their government, which means they can’t help it. Under the S.Korean government, EVERYTHING their citizens do is by their SSN, especially monetary transactions. They’re just different than we are and have been raised differently than we have. That’s all.

That said, do feel free to decline official Cloud membership. That’s not a problem at all.

That said, there is a heck of a lot of identity theft here in the U.S., like every day, practically. But I have yet to hear from an official U.S. Cloud that her identity has been stolen in Korea. If that has happened, I wish someone would come tell us their story because I really want to know. I’ve been curious about that for a long time.

That said, whether it’s happened before or not isn’t really relevant when it comes to personal feelings, and I know that. We’re all individually responsible for what happens to ourselves with this thing, so everyone absolutely should go by their gut instinct. For sure.

    • @Stephe,

You are absolutely right. There is identity theft in this country and every time we charge anything we have to wonder. Somebody took over an Ebay account I had once. Ebay had to “investigate” if I was who I said I was in order for me to get the account back. I had to give them dates and times and descriptions. I had to be very detailed regarding the transactions around the time period in question, etc. until finally they realized the account was mine. This was not detrimental to my life in the grand scheme, but it speaks to what can happen. The only issue was I hadn’t used the account in a while so someone took the liberty to take my account. When I decided to use it again, I was being told this account wasn’t mine, of course I was like WTF!

Regarding The Cloud fansite, I feel that site belongs to Korea. I get what you’re saying about their government mandate regarding SSNs, but I’m Not a Korean citizen. As far as I’m concerned Korea doesn’t need American SSNs. Since I’m a Black woman, I think it would be a “little hard” for a Korean citizen to “steal my identity”…….like for real (SMILE) but I don’t want to be in some other government’s data base. Call me paranoid, or just a concerned American, but we have enough going on with our own government. I work at a University and everyone (students, staff and faculty) used to be identified by SSNs, but the University has since changed that policy and now everyone is assigned a special 9-digit number. This is how everyone is identified on campus now, by your 9-digit number (when you are transacting business….paying fees, etc.). So that makes one less place I have to worry about using my SSN. If the Cloud came up with a system like that so as to circumvent those of us who are not Korean citizens from having to use our SSNs, but still be identified for their purposes, then maybe I would consider joining….otherwise….No Can Do “Mane.”

The bottom line for me is too many people have had their lives turned upside down by doing simple things like (joining a fan club web site based in a foreign country). I know I’m not the only one who watches DATELINE NBC………….

      • And that’s the thing of it, right there. We don’t even know if The Cloud will end up asking U.S. fans for an SSN, yet.

        I mean, good grief. :/

  9. Why do they want our SSN? I had my information stolen a few years ago that left a bad taste in my mouth. The hassle I had to go through with canceling credit cards and reporting everything to the credit bureas was crazy. As much as I love Rain, I’m not willing to give up my SSN to anyone. I really hated giving it to my doctor’s office too even though it’s necessary.

I am with both of you on this one. I truly love me some Rain (Ya’ll just don’t know)and as stated in other sections on this site, will be there for him to the end — but I too will not release my SSN. Heck, I probably wouldn’t give it directly to Jihoon either. 😉 Call it my personal hang-up/issue or whatever, but it ain’t happening for a variety of reasons.

Now on the other hand, if you’re comfortable….”Go-for-it”, and tell me what I’m missing occassionally. I will be the fan-girl providing my support from the other side of “the wall”, but with no less love for the man! 🙂

This is another reason why I love this website…, we can all come together in our love, admiration, etc… of Jihoon and share, provide support in our own ways based on our comfort levels. Again, this is not to take anything away from the other sites, as many have their own objectives.

& I heard that you’re only allowed to join one fangroup and you can’t cheer for other groups when you join one but… This is just what I’ve heard…

Is it true? (Because I like a lot of other groups… *taps fingers together*

  12. @BiAlamode, my sister I truly understand and agree I adore Jung/Rain meaning the man and the artist but I just can’t and will not give up my SS# he has me the person has much as I have him, meaning unless its personal this is all you get. I like you gave up very personal info of mine just to inter the cloud site and I’m opening myself up and talking to basically a total stranger and this I will never regret because of the person he is but this is a lot for me. And like you anyone who what’s to join please don’t go by what I say its totally a personal choice. 🙂 and I love me some Jung JiHoon/RAIN!

  13. @Lotus,

Personally, I have decided. I Love Bi, but I am not giving any more personal information to a foreign web site. I was out of my comfort zone to give my address to sign up to leave messages on the message board. I figure if Bi holds true to his statement about coming to the U.S. after his tour of duty is over, I will indulge in his activities on this side of the ocean. My love for him has not/will not diminish, but I just can’t go there sorry.

However, I don’t want to deter anyone else from signing up. If someone else feels comfortable in doing so, please go for it.
