[article] MBLAQ check: BLAQ Style, round two.

Well, it’s not really a surprise to us that Rain isn’t participating in MBLAQ’s repackage. He’s going to be up to the gills in Muffler movie filming, heaven knows how much more stuff for Mentholatum China, concert tour planning, and getting his own album ready for its release in a scant few months. (And his schoolwork.) Besides, he’s already given the Boys his blessing when it comes to making more of their projects their own. And very cool thing.

Here is a well-written update out of the Philippines.

MBLAQ to release repackaged album despite Mir’s injury

Korean idol group MBLAQ is set to release a repackaged version of its new album, “BLAQ Style,” despite recent reports that member Mir has sustained a minor spinal injury.

According to news reports, instead of a follow-up song from “BLAQ Style,” MBLAQ will release a repackaged album that will involve the idol group’s members more significantly than ever before.

MBLAQ, most popularly known as proteges of Korean entertainment superstar Jung Ji Hoon, who is known internationally as Rain, has been in heavy promotions for “Stay,” the first single off “BLAQ Style.” MBLAQ is well-known in the Philippines partly due to the fact that one of its members is Sandara Park’s brother, Thunder.

Representatives from J. Tune Entertainment, MBLAQ’s management company, recently released a statement through Money Today Star News, saying Mir would need physical therapy after sustaining a lower back injury that necessitated his hospitalization since February 7. MBLAQ is set to make another appearance on Mnet’s M! Countdown with the remaining members, Lee Joon, G.O, Thunder, and Seung Ho, which will go on as scheduled.

Surprisingly, initial reports indicate MBLAQ’s repackaged album will not feature production or choreography credits from Rain, who played a significant role in the production of MBLAQ’s debut album, including songwriting credits for album track “My Dear” and dance choreography for two of the singles from that album. In the absence of the Korean superstar, handpicked producers from JYP may very well be tapped for the repackaged album; J. Tune Entertainment was recently bought into by JYP Entertainment, which is now the latter’s biggest shareholder.

  1. don’t you think this article is misleading? didn’t JTune Camp make a similar announcement with a clearification that JYPE/JTE has nothing to do with MBLAQ and that JTune Camp manages MBLAQ?

i sometimes wonder if other sites and entertainment news have access to the same info. i got question marks swimming around in my head.

  3. Poor Mir, hope he recovers quickly. Does anyone know how serious it is?

    • Hi, Mel. 🙂

They’re being very optimistic, but very cautious. They took care of the problem really quickly. I don’t think it’s serious to the point that he could lose walking ability or anything like that, but a screwed-up disc can stop you from performing if you’re not careful. With the surgery and good physical therapy, I think he’ll be just fine. There was a point where a disc or something was pinching a nerve in my back once, all the way down my leg, and I couldn’t stand up for more than five minutes without excruciating pain. But after a few months of physical therapy, I’ve never had that problem again. Gone.
