JYP Entertainment (JYPE), one of Korea’s largest talenthouses founded and run by famed singer-producer Park Jin-young, will become the largest shareholder of Asian pop sensation Rain’s entertainment firm J.Tune Entertainment next year.
J.Tune announced through a regulatory filing on Monday that they have decided to increase their capital by issuing about 6.37 million new stocks worth a total 8.5 billion won, equivalent to almost 7.4 million dollars, to 19 subjects including JYPE, Park and JYPE CEO Jung Wook on January 20.
When the new stocks are issued, JYPE will hold 18.54 percent, or over 4.07 million J.Tune shares to become its largest shareholder. Kim Yoon-chul, the current owner of J.Tune, holds a 3.06 percent stake in the company.
The news has been welcomed by J.Tune’s investors and fans of the two parties — J.Tune, whose stocks had been suffering since Rain sold off all of his shares in the company on July 19 of this year, closed at 1,780 won on the junior KOSDAQ market, up 14.84 percent from its last trading day on December 24.
Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, had set up J.Tune in 2007 by investing 4.7 billion won in the agency to make him largest shareholder.
He had also left JYPE to make the move, arousing speculation that the two would be on bad terms since Park made Rain the superstar he is today in the Asia region.
However, today’s announcement confirmed the two’s strong relationship, further backed by a separate press release by JYPE stating that Rain had proposed Park manage J.Tune.
“Rain asked Park to become in charge of managing J.Tune since he wants to focus solely on his singing and acting career until he enters the military next year,” JYPE explained.
“JYPE will provide its utmost support to Rain so that he may pursue his career more freely and actively,” JYPE vowed in its statement.

Top star Rain has personally revealed the reason why he decided to work hand-in-glove with JYPE and Park Jin Young, after leaving the agency three years ago.Shortly after JYPE announced that they were to become the biggest shareholder of J.Tune Entertainment, Rain left the following message on his official homepage: “It was simply a strategic alliance with the intention that both companies could work together to bring about the greatest synergetic effect – it does not mean I am becoming a part of JYP Entertainment. I would also like to say once again that I am just a celebrity in J.Tunes Entertainment; I have no shares with the company, nor do I have the power to make any changes.”
“The reason why I joined forced forces with Jin Young-hyung was because after the many discussions we had together, we decided that I should show a variety of sides to myself before my enlistment. Also, since I met with Jin Young-hyung 10 years ago and began my career as ‘Rain’, I thought it would hold a deep meaning to wrap up my activities alongside Jin Young-hyung before my enlistment.”

now that is some to clear for and i surly understand him so well rain do with an respect to caeer yet his business still remind they’re close and I’m glad for it. JYP has been there for Rain for a long time and I’m glad he was there for him again and that is very well explain of his judgement and i well suport rain forever i do belive it well ensure enought for me to trus anybody under then not to rain have a smart move and he will contiune to be an artis when he is back nothing well change him from Jtune unless JYPE did crazy thing then that is something we are going to mad of!! i am not on eitehr i just have an option what i feel thre rain mind and we must give it see what very going to happen !!
btw.. 2PM’s Taecyeon also going to postpone his service. However, an initial body exam revealed that there may be problems with his physical condition.
Hyun Bin,will be sent away for 2 years in March along with Lee Teuk of Super Junior fame in 2011.
so rain is not alone serving the MS but just that they are liveing differnt month that all knowing these artis is their with rain i am happy to know rain got someone to keep him company even though at their duty !!

At first I didn’t like the idea but lets face it, Rain don’t have many options that I know. J Tune oviously don’t have the expertice to manage Rain’s career. We have seing their mistakes and they are not pretty. JYP have the expertice and it seems that Rain trust him so I think is a good move but I hope Rain have a good lawyer to guide him tru the legal stuff coz it could be dangerous. Other than that, JYP could do a good job at the promotion stuff coz he knows the Korean show business well.

for me i thinking rain have a smart move to sucere his company Jtune while he is away to MS and who he kmnow and to trus for he know JYP for long enough to turs the man in that but again i hope it come out the best for his MBLAQ and the businesses while he is away from it at leas he can drop one shoulder while worry about what happen over their that just my option here!!
and i just crossing my finfer that this JYP can asure to managemnet better and improve thier bussinese so hope everything for rain in good sak and not crazy thing happen i very assume it good and understandable of why rain let JYP imstead other he trus and i just hope he not trying to get any benfot either good luck rain we will wait and see !!

I think this is a good move. Rain obviously trust JYP and it didn’t seem like JTune was doing a very good job.

I’m not liking this, but if BI trust the man, I hope JYP can manage better then he did before, I wish BI just managed himself, but I guess he cannot do everything and JYP is his best bet…we shall see…good luck BI!!!
