  1. yes, there are a of strings hanging in this drama, but remembering a lot of others that i have watched it seems that kdramas are famous for doing that. i don’t know if it is a method to keep you thinking about the drama after it ends or what’s the purpose. i recently watched The Grand Chief, White Tower and others where although evil plots and actions are shown carried out on a character, the results of the action are shown but never revealed or exposed to the person that they harm unless the evil person has a change of heart and reveals what they did to the person they harmed. but they if don’t, the deed is done and never revealed. that’s a ? mark i am always left with. i chalk it up to that’s the way Korea makes it’s dramas which i guess Koreans understand fully. it’s a new style to me and yes some of them do leave me with questions that i just assume are left to me to sort out my own way. i kinda like that.

  2. Well, obviously, when JinYi left the cat at the monastery, it wasn’t early in the show per se, but too soon in the plot for me to remember it later. Which is why they should have had Mr. Kitty in the last episode. The two most important things in JinYi’s life going forward — JiWoo and Kitty.

And in defense of Korean dramas… I’ve noticed that many of them end with credits rolling while wrapping up the action. The vast majority of Korean AND Japanese dramas I’ve watched end like that. It’s normal to them. Come to think of it… that’s how a lot of American shows have been ending for the past several years.

    • Hm…sharp eye. I hadn’t noticed that in American TV…oh, wait…I don’t watch American TV. That’s probably half of the problem.

      LOL.

What a terrible trend. They need to STOP that. Lazy writers.

      • Also, usually this happens after the good scenes are done. That kiss was supose to be the main event after the unveiled of the gold. Ji Woo said it, the only thing missing is THE KISS so what happened?? I still can’t explain it.

  3. If I am not mistaken, jini left her cat with the monk in the monastery. I think it was by the same time that Kai and Ji Woo got their fight. Don’t remember what episode it was. You are right, they left so many things unfinished but to me, the kiss at the end was the big no no. I can let go other mistakes but that childish kiss was to much to take. I mean, they should know that the mayority of their audience are woman and that we are waiting for good kissing scenes. They have the better kisser in the world as leading man soo why on earth they denied that last kiss to the audience? It was out of character for Ji Woo not to kiss Jini and in top of that they did it with the credits rolling over. To me that was rude and irresponsible. If I where them, I would do that last scene again. If you see that last episode again you would find that the scene with Kai was too long, that the scene with nakamura was too long and that jini was way too bashful with the man that save her so many times, has kissed before, has being so kind with her and she was supose to trust. It was just wrong to give Kai so many kisses and not give Ji Woo the same opportunity.

  4. LOL,

Actually, we did see Mr. Kitty again. Apparently, Jin-Yi took him to the temple and left him with the monk there, because the kitty shows up when she and Kai go back to the temple.

Remember? At the same time, Ji-Woo is escaping from the police and he shows up at the temple? He’s sneaking around and the cat slinks up and scares him?

Also, the monk insists on taking a photo of her and Kai about then, and I seem to recall than when he takes the picture, she is holding the kitty. Or maybe I’m just remembering that wrong.

    Like you, Stephe, I also wondered what happened to the cat, but then I found it again…unlike *coughKiekocough*. ;-}

  5. Okay, I have to say this before I forget it…

I just started watching Fugitive again (on Hulu), and Episode 1 reminded me of something. Yet another thing that just disappeared from the show was Mr. Kitty, JinYi’s black cat. We never saw hide nor hair of him again. He should have at least been in the car with JiWoo and JinYi as they rode off into the sunset together, don’t you think?

I don’t even remember where she left him last. But he was so important to her that she took precious time to grab him before going on the run.

I swear, this story ended up with more loose ends than a corner full of streetwalkers. And I’m pretty sure it was because of the rewriting due to the car accident that the actress who played MiJin had… something tells me she figured really heavily into how everything was going to play out… but STILL, I’m sayin’…

It’s bewildering how subplots just faded into thin air. *coughKiekocough* :/

    • hehehee,,,,the cat was left at the Temple. remember the monk brought it out to see Jinny, when she and Kai went there to talk?

    • hummmm (MiJin), probably right about the re-write. she’s the person i expected to bring the old man and his son down, since the old man tried to kill her. but seems she wasn’t strong enough to play in more episodes. that girl was cold hearted and it would have been nice to see what she did to him instead of him shooting himself.(but then again, that’s a logical thought). my thinking about the ending kiss is that even though Jiny and JiWoo started to like each other they hadn’t built up a passionate love where such a kiss would have made sense to me. if they had then i would have started questioning just how much did she love Kai. so the soft, short kiss was enough to let me know that at least their romance was beginning.

      • I agree with you on the kiss scene…. They just finally opened their hear to one another. They didn’t have that passionate love for one another yet, therefore, that “childish” kissing was more than enough for me too. To me, I didn’t see Jini feelings towards Ji-Woo until the very end. Perhaps there wasn’t none until the very end..? (Or maybe it’s just me?) It was more than clear to me how Ji-Woo felt towards Jini when Jini and Kai was in the theater kissing and Ji-Woo’s face expression was the saddest thing ever!

I think Rain did a fabulous job playing his role as Ji-Woo… Many will criticize his acting in this drama (the over exaggerating ‘laughing’ parts), but what we see on screen is probably what the actors are suppose to do! To me, those laughs were meant to be fake. It’s not over reacting laughs, it’s a fake laugh in a joking way. It matches his character. It makes sense to me bc I know that that Rain can act! (:
