Revisiting: Rain at the Berlin “Speed Racer” press conference…
… as covered by KBS 2TV in 2007, concerning his role as rookie racer “Taejo Togokahn.” This press con was during filming in Germany, because by the time the movie actually premiered, JiHoon had grown his hair out long for Ninja Assassin.
He looked pretty darned happy here, I will say. 🙂

Here is the press con from Reelz Channel’s point of view, just so that you can see who all was there. They don’t talk to Rain in this video, but you do see his name plate (Ji Hoon Jung) right behind producer Joel Silver’s head. (And incidentally, Mr. Silver and the Wachowski Brothers snatched Rain up really quickly after that for Ninja Assassin.)

Aaaand… A nice bonus for you! Nearly a year later, Leicester Square covers the Speed Racer premiere in the U.K. Believe it or not, it was raining that day! They start off their Rain coverage by talking to a group of young Koreans about him, and end it with a pretty cool interview with the Man himself. JiHoon done good!

rain is very a specail person and thankful to all his fan and greet them and if he can he even sing their autograph for them too this why i admire he to his humble and give such a remarker memories to his and director as well. he sure have that heart fuiler ahahah 🙂

I did saw this movie when it came out coz I was a fan of the Speed Racer series when I was young. I wanted to see what the Warshoski brothers did with my series so I went to see it. I was amaze coz it was soo much more that what I expected. They did a magnificent job with all those graphics, bold colors, etc. To say the true, I was soo entralled with those graphics that Rain was out of my radar. I did notice him, coz I love asian actors and I remember that I found him cute, young and with a powerful personality but that was it. Maybe because I thought that he was younger didn’t thought about him again. It wasn’t till I saw Ninja Assasin that he really made an impact on me. After that I looked for Rain in the internet and learned that he was a singer and dancer too. I was soo impressed with all the information that I had to find more. Then I started to see YT videos and I was amazed at all I found. Later I found this site and the rest, as they said, is history. My love for Rain grows more each day!!! Muah baby, love ya!!! 😀

BTW, I am soo impressed by this video coz no matter if its raining, Rain always take care of his fans. Always. sigh If I never knew anything about him; just watching this video I would be in love all over again. What a great guy and that people is why I love this man. Oh, and THE HAIR, ohhh, Lord, that hair flowing behind him, squeak!!! Thud.

i’m using Rain’s words to describe this premier in the UK.
“there’s nothing to talk about”, hahaha the man is smashing with that long mane (already growing for Ninja Assassin). looking super good in that black with a slither of red. and it doesn’t matter where he travels rain and CLOUDS always so up.

But really, how cute was he back then speaking English?? I just want to hug him. You can see him struggling to put words together. Sigh… too cute. He sounds so much more proficient now. Maybe by the time he’s out of the military he’ll be speaking extra flawlessly??

This is really something. Just yeterday I was on Youtube looking at these same videos. Somedays I just have to look at Rain in some or any video. Unbelieveable.

Love seeing these older videos, although watching them makes me hate myself for not discovering Rain much sooner. However now that I have, I am a fan for life.
To be quite honest when I first saw commercials on tv about Speed Racer I wasn’t like omg I have to see this. Had I known Rain back then and that he was in it I would have been all over it. Thanks so much for posting. 🙂

I know exactly how you feel. I could “slap” myself for not knowing of him sooner, but I soon realized I have had “little glimpses” of him before I knew who he was. I wasn’t really itching to see Speed Racer either. I grew up watching the animated series and this movie did not strike the same “nostalgic chord” with me. It was a while before I saw the movie on TV and damn if I didn’t get a headache from the Brightness of it all. Also, I remember seeing the closing ceremonies of the Olympics and saw him singing with the other Asian artists, but once again I didn’t know it was my BABE!!!
I’m so sorry BOO!!………BUT I KNOW YOU NOW, BABY LOVE!!!!!
