[11-02-Nov-10][Sport Hankook]‘The Fugitive Plan B’ currently surpasses $ 4 million in exports!
According to the drama production on the 1st, KBS 2TV’s drama series ‘The Fugitive Plan B’ has currently surpassed $ 4 million in exports, as it is well received not only by Korea but by Asian countries such as Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines, etc.
The export price is estimated at least more than $200,000 per episode of ‘The Fugitive Plan B’.
‘The Fugitive Plan B’ has been sold at a higher price than that of MBC TV’s ‘Queen Sun-Duk’ ($145,000 per episode), one of 2009′s big hit dramas. That is up nearly 38% from ‘Queen Sun-Duk’.
Not only has ‘The Fugitive Plan B’ that has become the talk of the showbiz, been sold for the highest price to Taiwan and the Philippines in Korean drama history, but it has also received good reviews from the media throughout Asia, including Japan, because ‘The Fugitive Plan B is occupied by sought-after actors such as ‘Lee Na Young’, ‘Lee Jung Jin’, ‘Daniel Henney’, and ‘Sung Dong Il’, including world star Rain (Jung Ji Hoon), and shows splendid sights that are rare in TV dramas.
The 10 episode marks the basis of the changes in the story. From the 11th episode of the drama, the story centers on ‘Ji Woo’ (Rain) and Jinny (Lee Na Young) approaching the substance of evil after the death of ‘Jang Sa Bu’ (Gong Hyung Jin). Interest in on how the changed situation develops.

thanks kongsao….i remember reading this news about the sale and income this drama generated.
normally i tend to watch kdramas twice (the ones that get my attention)…and that’s what i’m doing with Fugitive. i stared watching on Dramafever, but the site froze up right in the middle of an episode, so thanks to being informred about Hulu, i moved over there and am now at episode 8. i tend to miss little points here and there when i first watch Rain, because i have to read the subs and try to catch his acting at the same time. so what i do is the first time i watch his character. the second time i focus on the subs. now, i will probably watch this a third time just for the fun of it. but, i got it so far. what i’m teaching myself is to understand the difference in Asian formats and it’s way of telling stories as opposed to what i’ve been used to all my life. now, based on your info. i can understand why KBS tags Fugitive as a blockbuster already having generated 4mil, that’s impressive.

Okay,
I hope everyone has seen Episode 20 and had time to make their own comments, because here comes mine, and they ain’t pretty.
All I have to say is I honestly cannot believe the same writers who wrote the first half of this series wrote the last half. If you compare the first ten episodes (especially episode 10, which was amazing) with the last ten episodes, there is NO comparison with regard to the quality of writing.
Yes, that sounds mean. But it’s not mean. It’s fact.
Episode 1 blew us away from the first moment it arrived onscreen. From the very beginning, we were running and running and running some more–from one amazing character and titillating subplot to the next. By the time we got to the horrifying end of episode 9 and into the terrifying middle of episode 10, we were bedazzled.
Conversely, episode 11 immediately tossed us up and over the top of a mountain and then threw us into a tangled mess at the bottom of a steep ravine, into a place where the drama that had once fascinated us with its intriguing characters suddenly became fixated on a pile of stolen gold.
As clever as the gold was, this slick little plot device wasn’t why we were hooked into watching the drama in the first place. We were hooked into watching this thing initially because of its quirky cast of characters. And yet, in the last 10 episodes, the people and their stories were mostly abandoned in favor of the machinations surrounding gold that, at first, no one even knew about, and now, suddenly, EVERYBODY wanted.
To say I was irritated over this sudden switch would be putting it mildly. Frustrating as hell.
Was there anything I did like about episode 20? Yes. Yes, there was.
I liked Soran’s death. That moment was absolutely brilliant, and the characters’ reactions were spot on. The writers could NOT have done that any better. Kudos to them.
I also liked Ji-woo’s character reveal about his childhood during his one “deep” conversation with Jin-Yi. Those moments were heartbreaking and superbly delivered. Go Rain!
I also thought Do-Soo’s prolonged meltdown over Soran’s death was painful and appropriate. Jung-jin did an exceptional job with his portrayal of a man filled to the brim with regret. Yeah!
Ji-Woo’s reaction to Soran’s death and the subsequent “let’s take a picture together” scene with Jin-Yi was also spectacularly written AND exceptionally executed. Go, Rain AGAIN!
And yet, those moments, as great as they were, were not enough to make up for the things I HATED about episode 20:
The writers completely ignored a lot of loose ends. For example, the involvement of the Japanese mob with the main plot and Ji-Woo’s unresolved love story with Keiko. Episode after episode, I kept waiting for the writers to get back to the story in Japan. Where did poor Kieko go, huh? I mean there was no further mention of her after the part where her father went postal on her about Ji-Woo. How weird is that? Yes, we know Kieko’s subplot was connected with Mi-Jin’s subplot, which changed once the actress was injured, but it still makes no sense for the writers to drop such a major subplot altogether. And it makes no sense for two reasons. Her father was so angry that he ordered his men to kill Ji-Woo. He also ordered his daughter to never see Ji-Woo again. All I can say is either her father is a very disciplined man or he’s a really bad mob-boss. Her father also had ties to Mi-Jin and Chairman Yang, and yet neither of these two characters ever mentioned Kieko’s father again. Doubly weird. I also noticed that one of Ji-Woo’s assistants in his office (the funny girl with the glasses) went suddenly missing after a few episodes. And there was no mention by the other cast members about her disappearance either. (That I can remember anyway.) Again, weird.
The whimpering final, climactic “battle” between the good guys and bad guys (press conference scene) was, well, anticlimactic. The climax of any story is THE moment that should impact the viewer the most. It is THE moment that should linger with the viewer LONG after they turn off their television sets or leave the movie theater. It is the moment people simply HAVE to talk about around the dinner table, or while they are driving home. Can any of you honestly tell me that the climactic scene at the press conference in Fugitive: Plan B is one you will remember forever? Come on. Be HONEST. Well, if you’re not gonna be, I will. All I can say is that scene wasn’t the one that made me scream “OMG! That was ABSOFRAKINLUTELYPERFECT!” at my computer monitor.
As for the “cutesy” kiss between Ji-Woo and Jin-Yi during the final rolling credits? Sheesh. Way to afterthought it, writers. And I’m sorry, but that kiss sucked everything but face. Couldn’t he at least have pulled over and kissed her properly? *forehead to desk*
Please note that I’m NOT talking about the ACTING. The actors, as always, were AMAZING. ALL of them. And their performances were solid and consistent throughout the entire drama. Still, it would have been mighty nice if the writers had given them more to work with–especially there at the end–where it counts the most.

I totally agree with you. They drop the ball in those last episodes in a big way and didn’t know how to catch it back. They leaved to much to resolve in that finale and you can notice it coz they even drop the credits while the ending was running. I really think that Kai got to much time in the finale. Jini was over him already; why going back to him in that gallery? They spent way to much time in that. Another thing, the police officer who got stabbed, What happened with him? They didn’t even put him back in the ending. I did notice that both girls that where assistants in Ji Woo’s office where left out too. To me episode 20 was good up to those final seconds coz a big part of the audience, if not all, were women that were waiting for that kiss since half the series. I mean, the gold thing was good, they should give it time to get resolved coz that’s why Jini when to Ji Woo in the first place but what grip the audience was the relationship between Jini and Ji Woo. He was soo charming with her in those final episodes; crying with her, talking with her, giving her his support and protecting her to the end. She was trusting him and getting to know him well. Why denied him a kiss in that last scene when we all know that he wanted that kiss since forever? It was totally out of place. If I where JIni I would have give him that glorious, delicious, out of this world kiss in that elevator after he said to all the press and in front of Kai that he loved her. That’s the Jini we all love and you have to keep the character’s personality. She was a strong woman, she knows what she wants soo she was the one that should kiss Ji Woo.

I have many things I could discuss about the fugiive but for now what I want to say is I loved how they let Ji-Woo be a man of his word. Through out the drama Ji-Woo told Jinni he would always be by her side. And he kept his word. Regardless of how emotionally hurt or physically hurt he was. In the end he was always by her side to comfort and protect her the best that he could. Even though they arugued about different things. With a couple of arguements being more painfull than others. Or when Rain was physically hurt. He always bounced back and was by her side. I call this true love.
There were alot of awsome kick ass action scenes that I truely loved. Also alot of side cracking, tear falling, LOL, and ROFL scenes. The true story line for me was love. This drama might not have been your typical love story for some people because of all the action. Love was the main and obvious theme for me. Things like the action and comedy scenes were just used to fill in the in between spaces. This drama was about two people who came together because of certain circumstances, beat all odds, fell in love, and lived happly ever after.
I fell in love with Ji-Woo and Jini as a couple early on. The reason I did was because they came across like a real couple to me, minus the action scenes. You could not help but fall in love with them. Episode after episode you hoped and prayed they would figure things out and end up together. This drama definitly goes into the all time must see romantic story catagory. At the end of this drama I was left completely emotionally satisfied!!!!

Note:
If anyone doesn’t have the money to buy points, then you can do one of the following:
Sign up for Rain’s official fan site, called The Cloud. There are sign-up instructions somewhere on this blog showing you how to do that. Some of The Cloud’s members there are subbing all of the episodes in English. They are behind a little bit, but at least they are available and they are free.
If you can access Dramafever.com, they are also showing FREE episodes there. But again, the free episodes are a little bit behind.
The episodes might also be available on YouTube somewhere by now, since the series is now officially over. (And until KBS yanks them off for copyright infringement reasons.)
Of course, the best quality you’ll find, and the most supportive for Rain’s career, can be found on KBSWorldi.com. Obviously, if people pay to watch them on KBSWorldi.com, then Rain will get his due compensation. But we really do understand that not everyone will have the capacity to do that. So, just do whatever works for you.

just watched #20…this was a really pleasurable drama to watch.
but, i had questions about JiWoo and Keike’s relationship, but i guess i should have closed the door on it once her dad told her he would kill JiWoo before he allowed the relationship to happen.
still i thought there would be some kind of closure. another thing that confussed me, was that it was announced that MBLAQ would make a cameo appearance (i thought i read it that way), so i was expecting to see the boys. (seems it should have just announced they would be on the OST), i was kinda mis-lead there.
maybe i just mis-understood.
lastly, JiWoo’s mentor finally wind up with the gold? that’s a bummer. i guess we are to assume that the missing gold will be tracked back to him once the police lay all thier evidence on the table. now i kinda wish that they had added maybe 1 more episode to wrap this up more neatly. all in all, it get’s my money as soon as it’s for sale.

Okay, so who’s gonna die? Stephe and I talked about this last night. The way the announcement was worded it told us that the death would be extremely impactful to the cast of characters. Which means that even though we’re all irritated enough at Nakamura to WANT him dead (not really, but in the story…), we don’t think that’s who’s going down.
So, thinking that it will be someone totally unexpected and a horrifying development to the main characters, I’m predicting it will be one of two people: Detective Yoon or Do-Soo.
If I were writing this thing, it would be Detective Yoon. She has been such a delightful character that we’ve all fallen in love with her, even Do-Soo. He asked her to marry her. She refused because he wouldn’t tell her his true feelings. And at the very end of Episode 19, he tells her to stay where she is, that it’s too dangerous for her to get involved in the fight.
Mighty strong foreshadowing, IMHO.
Total speculation, yes. But that’s why it’s so much fun.
Of course Do-Soo’s death would be painful as well. I doubt they will kill off either Ji-Woo or Jini, since they are the leads. But of course, you never know.
If James Bong were to get killed that would be painful as well, but his death wouldn’t be as impactful as Yoon’s. And his sidekick (why can’t I ever remember that guy’s name???) would be another sad parting.
The most predictable kill-off would be Nakamura’s. The audience would delight in it, and it would have the most impact on Ji-Woo, but I’m wondering if the writers will want to be that predictable? I sure wouldn’t. But you never know…
All I can say is these writers sure do know how to build memorable characters. They are all ones we love and are going to miss watching terribly.

Yes, I think is going to be her. Doo Soo needs a wack in the head for being so hard with detective Yoon. I don’t think it was much to ask that he did a decent proposal. He just show her the ring by throwing it over the table. That was harsh; it was like there, take it, I am giving up. She should die so he remembers her for the rest of his life.

I agree, Marisara.
Although, I guess the writer’s thought that Jin-Yi proably hadn’t gotten over Kai enough and that Ji-Woo, being a caring guy (underneath all that blather), wouldn’t want to take advantage of her weak emotional state.
I sure do wish they could have extended the drama a few more episodes, so that we could have been able to see more character/relationship development. But alas, it is almost over and done with, and I’m afraid all we may get is one measly kiss at the end of the story.
So much for high expectations. Sigh.
