Revisiting 2008: Rain and Double Dragon… An unbeatable combination indeed.
One thing we’ve never listened to enough, in my opinion, at least, is the English version of “Rainism.” I heard it today offhand. It immediately filled me with longing for those wonderful days when our Magic Feet was tearing “Rainism” up on every stage he could find.
Don’t get me wrong. I adore the Korean version. There’s nothing like JiHoon singing in his native tongue. Nothing. But his voice can also wrap around some English like hot buttered syrup on a waffle. And we haven’t had nearly enough of that over the years. Umm.
“Now I’m about to change position… come and see my Magic Stick…” Yeah, that’s some cane all right, JiHoon. Heheh. 😉

Well… to be fair about it, Roy and Elmo Chong, the ultra-talented Funk Seoul Brothas of Double Dragon, who work out of Vancouver, Seoul, and New York, wrote the English “Rainism” lyrics for Rain AND produced the English version of the song. In our minds, DD and Rain will always be an unbeatable combination, and one that we hope repeats itself sometime in the future.

The Chong brothers also wrote and produced the English version of “Love Story” during that same time, and watched that English version go to Number 1 around the world. They spoke very highly of Rain after their studio session — about how, despite his major star status, he came in without any airs whatsoever, absorbed everything they offered, recorded tirelessly for hours until they were all done, and what a pleasure it was to work with him. They were also kind enough to share their footage of him in their recording booth.
Roy and Elmo took excellent care of Rain. So is it any wonder why, in addition to their amazing work with other artists, they’re our favorite producers? 🙂

I love seeing, hearing Rain sing “Love Story” in his native language. However hearing him record this in English gives me chills….in a good way. He has a way to make you feel the emotion deep in your heart.

Oh, ladies thanks for posting this!!! Is a treat to see Rain recording in english. He can’t stand there without dancing, I can understand him coz I am that way too. True dancers can’t hear music without swinging around. LOL I love both songs and Double Dragon did a magnificent job translating. It seems that both songs where mada like this originally and not from a translation. I hope Rain used them again coz they are really good and know the right way to make a sucessful translation.

i have see this before and i ahce to say thank u for the Doubble Dragon !! they very helping rain work his ENGLISH bioth rainism & Lovce Story is the best in his vocail sining and i love hearing rain sing ENGLISH matter fact the more he sing the improove rain get rain very know the BASIC in english and sure dran he smart that reder in korean or English rain pull it off well done i ,ove his tone when he sing it very strong and a truly singer rain is not to mention they help rain even he own producer itself LOVE SONG & HIP SONG he sure BLOWM with the defeaning outstanding stage of the years!!

I wish I would have known about the person known as RAIN back during all this I missed out all the excitement, but I do now and I’m getting all caught up much THANKS to you ladies :)) And I just love both these songs and the video’s are the BOMB!!! And I love seeing the behind the scenes recording with the people responsible for helping make JiHoon those two wonderful songs, I hope he does work with them again.

Oooh honey please don’t forget that second line of verse two of Rainism eng version. These lyrics I have remembered since first hearing this version of Rainism because he is speaking my language

Brain instantly friend and short circuited LOL you want me to chase your magic stick and you are GUARANTEEING to make my body shake too! Sounds like a challenge to me!

Thanks for the videos, I loved each one of them. Yes I love hearing Rain sing in Korean. But it is something specail about when he sing in english too. I love the english version of Rainism and Love Story. They both sound like original songs and not a translated song. I also, love the videos too for both. I hope he does an album in english one day.
