Rain nominated for 2010 Golden Disk Awards.
All of the nominees for the 2010 Golden Disk Awards are presently listed on the official GDA website, so go have a look! Rain appears to have two nominations for “The Song That Will Get You Back,” a.k.a. Love Song, from this year’s Back To The Basic mini-album released in April. (If you click on “Nominees”, he is on the 2nd list down and also the very last list.)
It’s wonderful to see Kim Jong Kook *scream!*, Bobby Kim, BoA, SHINee, Epik High, Taeyang, PSY, and B2ST in the crowd there, along with a slew of others.
Fans can vote for their favorite celebs on the GDA website until December 6th (it’s 99.9% in Hangeul, so that will prove difficult unless you know the language); we believe these may be specifically tallied for a separate Popularity Vote, seeing as the Golden Disk Awards have in fairness been based solely on album and digital music sales for years.
As we understand it, this prestigious show (Korea’s most prestigious for music, begun in 1986 and nicknamed the Korean Grammys), will take place on December 9th at Koryeo University.

Hii, Just wanted to say that casting votes for Golden Disk “Popularity Category” could only be done by locals, “Koreans”
i.e the only way to vote is via phone.( + it costs)

1. click the link and you will be on the GDA home page.
2. look up in the brown bar near the top and CLICK ON NOMINEES
3. this takes you to the first nominee page (on the left side there is a list of SIX NOMINEE LISTS in Hangeul, and you’re on the very first one. Kim Jong Kook and his “Eleventh Story” song is the first nominee.
4. if you click on the second link on the left side, that takes you to the second nominee page and Rain is there.
5. if you click on the last link on the left side, that takes you to the last nominee page and Rain is there.
I found all that just by looking around and clicking.
At the time of this earlier posting today, all anyone on the Internet was doing was writing up the fact that the nominee list had been released. They hadn’t translated any of the Hangeul so that you could even know what the nominations were for, just the artists and songs.
I’ve posted all I know at this time. There was nothing in English (or wasn’t). As my post already says, I think there may be a fan Popularity Vote (again, look up in the brown bar near the top of the GDA page) but the main GDA awards are very prestigious and are decided by album and digital sales like our GRAMMY AWARDS.
This sounds like a “Team Cloud” project to me (Terri and I are having to handle some multiple fan site tasks that have come up behind the scenes right now — nothing bad, all good, so don’t let that scare ya). So… if anyone sees anything additional out there concerning the GDAs, please do post it here and help your fellow rain clouds out. We’ll do the same, of course.
(I’m thinking that foreign fans would certainly not be eligible to vote in anybody’s Grammys, I mean that just does not compute… this is not along the lines of MTV and that kind of thing, this is the Big Times, Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, etc.)
