[ETA staff tweet] Gotcha!

As we understand it… Rain catches his director sleeping on the job.  LOL!  Poor director looks tired to death.  Awww.

“도망자” in Japan story

Puckish boy~~ (hahahaha)

Today’s installment… I’m unloading a picture after a long time… 🙂  This is just the picture of Jihoon hyung that you’ve always wanted.  The director is also in the picture. (haha)

The drama shooting kept everyone up all night.  With the director having more responsibilities than other people, he got less sleep than everyone else.  When the director fell fast asleep… Jihoon hyung whipped his camera out and caught the shot… 🙂

I also took a picture of what was going on…

Even in that funny situation, with effort we quietly managed not to laugh…

  3. OFF TOPIC!!! i just visited a few asian fan blogs and i got an instant question that popped into my head. there’s a few new pics posted and the blogger asks to please not upload them to other blogsites?????? i kinda think that’s a little selfish considering every fan wants to know what Rain’s doing. so i’m saying if you don’t want to share, why put them up? (is there such a thing as ownership rights for bloggers?) curious.

    • Busybee,

The answer is: It depends on the source of the photos.

If the photos (or other works, like original articles or English-subbed videos, for example) originated with the blogger, i.e., if they were actually taken/produced by the blogger, then the blogger has every right to restrict their “original” works and to only allow them to being posted where they want them to be posted. They don’t have to share them with anyone if they don’t want to.

If, however, the work did NOT originate with the blogger, then they do NOT own the copyright, and thus, they have no rights to the works whatsoever. Period. End-of-story.

So the rule is: If it’s actually YOURS, then you get to choose with whom you’d like to share it. If it’s NOT yours, then TOUGH LUCK.

Also, when you are talking about “celebrity” photos, it gets a little more complicated. Technically, even if I take a photo of a celebrity, say Rain at a concert, for example, his image is still considered “his property,” because it could be a “commodity” (worth money). So, although technically the image would be mine (as in I took the photo), I still wouldn’t be able to use that image in certain ways (like to make money) without his explicit permission.

Would he allow me to post the image on an unofficial fan site? Of course. Especially if I was using the photo to promote his image and to increase the size of his fan base, and not using the image in an unflattering or scandalous way. But if I was to try to sell something with that image of Rain on it–without his permission? You’d better believe he’d come down on me fast and HARD.

What I think we’d all better do is thank our lucky stars that Rain allows all of us fan sites/fan blogs to exist in the first place and to have almost free reign with his images and activities. Some celebrities wouldn’t be so considerate.

And for that, I thank him profusely.

      Terri :-}

    • @busybee: Though I certainly understand the legalities and all of that, still the question for me remains.

When it comes to celeb images and/or videos (posting only, not re-uping), why put them up in the first place if you don’t want to share, and then have to police them to see who is complying? I mean this is the Internet, you know how the Internet works, and what is your point exactly? Why bother?
