Rain at Shanghai Airport, August 10, 2010
By: huhuhuhu @raincloudHK
When I knew our prince’s flight schedule to Shanghai, I decided I will just go and welcome him back to Shanghai. I only had time to buy some cherries and peaches, but I did write a note to our prince saying that I hope I could get him more food in the coming days.
There were many possible exits for our prince to come out and to get into his car. We searched the car park but could not find any clue – we didn’t see his van, we didn’t see any fenced off area etc. At the end, we did what we had done before. My car waited on 3rd level. My friend’s car waited at the 2nd level. These were the most likely areas with the shortest walking distance. While we were waiting at the reception hall our drivers were moving around the car park to look for “suspicious” targets.
There were about 20-30 fans waiting. Some time later we saw our prince’s photographer standing behind us, so we knew our prince would come out through this exit. Fans in front had flowers. I held on to my fruit bag.
Then Mr. Kim appeared. He signaled us not to take pictures. Soon after our prince walked out. He wore white shirt, black trousers and black sandals. He had a cap but no sunglasses. Our prince must be very tired, having worked the whole morning on the drama. Therefore he did not have much expression and was checking his phone most of the time. He walked very fast and fans had to run to follow him. I fell behind, watching his tall back and watching him being surrounded by people as he took the escalator up to the second level.
When I was up at the second level, our prince was already going down another escalator again to the mezzanine level. This time I decided to just stop there and watch him. It was such a funny feeling seeing him disappearing before my sight down the escalator, like he sometimes did at the end of a song in a concert. He was so quiet, so “alone” even though he was surrounded by fans. I wondered what he was thinking.
And our prince out witted all of us once again. He had taken the complicated up, down route, so before we could get back to our cars, he’s already gone.
I was not able to give him the fruits. I didn’t even try to get near him. But that’s okay. I think our prince needed some good rest, some well deserved privacy.
Welcome back to Shanghai, dear prince.

Thanks for your fan account, huhuhuhu! It’s always good to know when Rain lands safely. And good call…! I think you were absolutely right in hanging back and giving Rain some space. I’m so glad you did that. Add a two-hour flight on top of complete exhaustion, and you have one truly tired man who just needs some peace and quiet for a change. Sometimes loving someone means leaving them alone.
As excited as I am about the drama, I for one will be glad when this shoot is over, regardless of the fact that he’ll probably immediately throw himself into something else.

yeah, i’m feeling for Rain right about now. i mean working non-stop night and day is a bit much (even for someone who is use to doing it), it’s just not good for physical or mental well being. fans should take that into account and not to mention the weather there (i think they reported the hottest in 15 years). Rain is use to fans showing up in droves at airports or wherever and he has been extremely gracious with fans so i hope they will reciprocate by just being there to greet him and maintaining a certain distance. as said, just the travel alone takes it’s toll. can u imagine learning your lines for the drama, attending an opening for a fashion brand, modelling for it, back to shooting drama scenes, back to modelling for Lotte and right back to drama shooting>>>>>>>WHEW!! not to mention he started shooting the drama even while having his Japan concerts. makes me exhausted just writing about it. i love the fan reports and hope they keep coming, but i also hope fans will distance themselves and give him the space he needs. btw, remember his clip of the Nature Repulic, making the cf? waking up in the forest? Rain said he has alergies…i wonder did fans know this. you can see his comment about that during the making of that complete with his sneezing. really hopes he gets a day or two off, just to rest and enjoy some quite time.

@Teri @gerlie0064 @marisara I agree….
@Stephe – Yes — my thoughts exactly;
I adore Ji-Hoon as much as anyone else does, if not more. But his physical and mental well-being mean more to me than my personal satisfaction, especially at times like this, when he is so clearly in need of space. I mean it’s written all over his face.

You know?
I used to travel all the time and had a really hectic schedule. Many months, I was in a different city every single week–and all across the U.S. too. I know I sure wouldn’t have appreciated being bothered like this while I was trying to travel–ESPECIALLY if I had worked all day and then had taken the quickest flight out that I could to my next stop, so I could be at work early the next morning. No, I would have probably done the same thing Rain did–turned my I-Pod up full blast, ignored everything around me, and just moved the hell on.
And have you ever tried to sleep on an airplane? Trust me. It isn’t restful by any stretch of the imagination.
I don’t know. Maybe fan trips to airports aren’t such a good idea. Rain doesn’t seem to like them very much, and now that I’ve given them more thought, neither do I.

My exact sentiment! I do not know about others, but if I’m in his position, all these ‘attention’ WILL DEFINITELY drives me to insanity !! I REALLY REALLY feel for him !!!

I know Ji-Hoon is trying to do everything he has in schedule before his time in the military but I think is too much. Hope that the people that work with him help to keep his sanity. I am worried but guess he is used to work that way. We as fans need to keep that in mind and support him by giving the space he need at this hectic time.

I have to say that I was ALARMED as all get-out when, in the arrival video, it looked like people were going to run right up onto Rain’s back as he walked, which I’m sure would have pissed him off royally. As it is, I don’t know that that didn’t happen, what with the camera suddenly going off kilter the way it did.

It’s not that I don’t appreciate the video. I DO (without it, and others like it, we in the States would have little to no Rain visuals). But as his fans, at times we should give our role a little more thought. That’s just my honest opinion.
