[fan account/extra on set] Thank heavens for continuity. Wow.
[Cloud USA] Around year 2000 or thereabouts, before Rain debuted, when Terri and I were part of a five-person organization called the Studio Players (we obtained teleplays, auditioned actors, held rehearsals, and shot 13 weeks of half-hour dramas that were broadcast on Public Television here in Atlanta), I was fortunate enough to learn some of the ins and outs of a thing called Continuity.
Because most scenes happen over a matter of minutes but the shooting of the scene may happen over a matter of hours, Continuity is one of the most important things there is when it comes to filming for TV and movies—in fact, it is downright imperative, so much so that there are usually people on the set whose ONLY job is to insure that it’s done properly.
For instance, in one drama, we had a scene in a restaurant where the lead actress had to take a few sips of water. Which meant that after each take or NG, we had to make certain that her glass was exactly the way it had already been filmed at that point in the shot. If we didn’t, viewers might see her glass completely full at one point, then magically half-full a second later. Or full ice cubes one minute, and melted shards the next. Or a sparkling clean glass one minute, condensation covering the glass the next. We had to physically look at the playback on screen and make sure everything on the set was in the same condition as the point in time where the camera would pick up next. Which wasn’t easy.
This fan account really gives me a dose of excitement because, in addition to “seeing” Rain in action on set, I also got a taste of the director using Continuity. If this fan had taken her bag, at some point during the actual broadcast it would have seemed to miraculously disappear off that table and into thin air unless the director had gone back and re-shot everything all over again, from the beginning, without the bag there. So cool.

I have to write down my luck today. I was one of the extras for the drama. Today we continued our shooting. We were passers bys walking back and forth.
The scene was then changed to inside. I was lucky to be chosen as one of the 11 extras. We were taken inside a café on a penthouse. We sat on a table, and our prince was about 2 meters from us.
The extras’ roles were to witness an incident in the café. We were scared and ran away. When the shooting started I thought a bit about my role. As I was in a café, I should not be holding my bag, and when I was scared, I should just run without taking anything. (This was where my luck began).
After a few shots all the extras were told we could leave. So I returned to the table to get my bag. The director, through a translator, asked me if I took my bag or not during the shooting. I said no. The director said as they need to take further shots my bag would have to stay there. As a result I got to stay on. I almost flew into the air with this good news, as I got to watch the fighting scene!
I watched all the fighting actions of our prince. In particular I watched all his cute and lovely movements. He made funny faces, he played with the staff, he laughed his eyes into just a line.
I had to mention about his fighting. His moves were so sharp and crisp. He finished off the man as if finishing an ant. The whole action with done with just one take. It was so beautiful. All the crew members clapped, of course I clapped as well. Even the Chinese staff who were helping with the equipment commented that they knew our prince danced well, but they did not expect his kungfu to be so good.
There was a time when our prince hit his finger. He cried out only after the whole shooting was over. I felt so sorry for him. But after resting a bit, our prince was all energetic again.
When our prince didn’t have to shoot, he sat quietly on his “dragon chair”. People surrounded him and used fans to cool him. It was very hot, his back was totally wet after the fighting scene. So he unbuttoned his shirt and fanned his body. OMG, the muscles, the hair on his chest… I couldn’t say anymore, please use your own imagination…
The shooting was over. I got my bag. I didn’t know if our parts would be cut. But it’s OK. Our prince and us had all worked hard, together. I could feel the crew paid great attention to details. It’s going to be an excellent drama. Fighting…

I’m not surprised at all about his fighting abilities, after all Ninja Assasin is one of the bet movies of it’s genre because of the fighting in it, and as well you all know he is a perfectionist so all he does will be well done or not done at all, whatever project he undertakes is a triumph because of his work ethic and he leads the other by example…digresing a bit…have you all noticed how much Teen Top resemble Mblaq???…maybe it’s just me…lol…aja aja BI!!! 😉

Thank you! “the hair on his chest”??? Ok, I gotta go and re-perv some more cos I didn’t notice the “hair on his chest” before…ever!
Now, why am I not surprised that Rain did so well in the fight scene? I mean, is there anything that this man doesn’t do well when he put his mind to it? And the finger incident! Pure professionalism!

Re-perv…? What a great verb! Hahahaha!
Yes, he goes somewhere really deep inside himself when he’s in character, SO deep that only something of major proportions can break his concentration. He really is amazing.
