Back To The Basic: Your honest opinion.

We’ve all waited for so long, and finally it’s here: Rain’s special mini-album, BACK TO THE BASIC, several years in the making, its title track written and composed by him.

The past few weeks, with its strategic marketing releases and teasers, has been nothing but raw excitement on top of excitement for Clouds and Rain fans everywhere.  We still have Rain’s visual performances to look forward to, but that excitement culminated with a BANG early yesterday morning in Asia (early this afternoon our time) with the album’s release.

So it’s six hours later, the initial frenzy has passed, and you’ve had a chance to drink everything in.  What do you think of the album as a whole, and as individual songs?  And how does that compare to how you felt about each teaser, the audio releases, and J.Tune’s marketing plan?  Your constructive opinion is something that Rain himself needs to know—he pays attention to his fans’ reactions and always tries to learn from them.  So here’s your shot.  Talk to the man.  Talk to us, and each other.

Good, bad, or indifferent, it’s discussion time.  Just remember: The name of the game here is respect, for fellow commenters and for Rain.  Be truthful… but no hater-ade, flame wars, or fan wrath.  Thanks!

  1. I give the album 4.5 stars (if each song were a star), and only because the English in the English version was off, odd, however you want to describe it. The other songs… WOW. Top notch all the way. Rain’s voice is killer! His interpretation of R&B / Bling hip hop is right on. His including some guitar rock a la Guns N’ Roses “November Rain” (no pun intended haha) at the end of Love Song was superb. One of the songs even had a Backstreet Boys’ vibe to it. Rain is so creative, it’s scary.

The way he teased everyone until everything was out was pretty genius, too. And he never took anything back, for instance, the false eyelashes. Once they were out, he stuck by them and I appreciate that. He wanted something different, something revolutionary, and followed through with his vision regardless of what people thought. As he should have.

People freaking out over the hair extensions and eyelashes when hundreds of famous entertainers over the years have used them too, was just weird to me. I could see if he was wearing the stuff on the street as his new personal thing, perhaps. But he’s an entertainer and he was building a character, a stage persona, and people were acting so stupid about it instead of just rolling with it. As if they had the right to tell him what to do anyway. Sheesh.

Honestly, the one word that hits me when I think of B2TB is “brilliant.”

  3. Hey ladies! Sorry I haven’t spoken up much. Today was a rough day on the WebBlog, LOTS of site maintenance to take care of (pre-order links to take down, Discography stuff to put up, shuffling around and rearranging, et cetera, as well as keeping up with the news). But hey, it got done. 🙂

I’ll be sure to participate more tomorrow–promise.

I have plenty to say about the album, believe me!

But don’t wait on me. Everyone jump in at will. 😀

  5. I don’t think i have ever been part of a better marketing strategy, it was a roller coaster of pure magic that never seemed to end and then BOOM we got what we had been waiting for and OMG was it worth waiting for, Love song to start us off then getting the MV then the rest of the album it was pure genius, kept me on tender hooks the whole time and i LOVED it 😀

Rain really delivered way more then what i expected and i can’t wait to get my album in the post.

I can’t wait to see his dance to the Hip Song. After seeing what he did in the love song MV i am even more excited 😀

It still hasn’t fully sank in for me maybe a few more days haha

  6. I love all the songs except the English version of Love Song. They really need to get a native English lyricist to help with Rain’s English songs.

  7. The marketing of the album was brilliant, wasn’t it? Rain and J.Tune played everybody like a fiddle (a lot of people’s reactions were so predictable, I just cracked up)… 🙂
