[info][Cloud USA] First “The Prince” event: The movie opens at AMC Sugarloaf Mills in Atlanta. We’re going!

Cloud cover by: Stephe, Managing Editor ^@@^

{Edited to Add 8/22: I suggest that if you have an AMC theater somewhere near you, check it out! And even if you don’t, check your area thoroughly because AMC isn’t the only chain playing the film. Good luck, everyone! Just wondering — does anyone see it listed in Canada anywhere? ^@@^}

poster(9)FINALLY, the names of the theaters in the U.S.A where Rain’s movie The Prince is opening this Friday (August 22) were released yesterday. Released on Wednesday for a movie that opens on Friday. What genius thought that up. Anyway—

Atlanta is one of the cities, thank the Immortal Movie Gods. The theater is the AMC Sugarloaf Mills (formerly the AMC Discover Mills), 5900 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville, GA 30043. Show times are 12:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 9:00 PM. Thank goodness it’s in the suburbs. Parking downtown can be a real challenge, sometimes.

Okay, here’s the plan.

Terri and I have made reservations at the same hotel we all stayed in during the last Cloudburst in March—the Holiday Inn Express in Duluth, located at 3670 Shackleford Rd, Duluth GA, 3009. (They’re in the middle of some renovations, and the hospitality suite isn’t available to us this time, but it’s a nice place to stay and some of you are already familiar with it.) Holiday Inn Express reservations can be made by calling 1-888-465-4329. We’ll be driving out to Duluth on Friday, and we plan to catch the afternoon and evening showings of “The Prince.” The AMC Sugarloaf Mills is only 3 exits up from the hotel by expressway. In between showings, we’ll have dinner out on the town.

Local Clouds, come on and join us! Hopefully, some of you sisters out of state can join us too, even with time being so short. (Believe me, we didn’t want it this way and tried hard to avoid this very situation.)

Saturday (August 23), we plan to shop, eat, see another viewing, and be back at the hotel before 10 PM, in time for our second The Prince event: Cloud USA’s “Mercy Is For the Weak” Virtual Cloudburst. Hopefully, all of you who can’t physically be with us in Atlanta can have fun watching Rain’s movie On Demand and celebrating it with us on our new Forum. You can read all about it HERE.

Tha-tha-that’s all, folks.

Cloud sisters in California, New York, Ohio, Washington, Florida, NJ, Pennsylvania, and Texas, get in those theaters and represent! We look forward to seeing your pics and sharing your thoughts and views.

  1. Well,

Okay. The movie itself was pretty bad, wasn’t it? I mean, seriously. I felt like I was in a videogame much of the time. And Jason Patric’s character was set on “God-mode.” LOL. Although, I was quite impressed with Jason’s acting. I honestly lost track of him after “Lost Boys,” and had no idea what he had been doing all these years. He was really good.

The others? Not so much. Poor 50 Cent lasted about 3 minutes. John Cusack just looked old and tired and seemed really bored. And I don’t know what the hell Willis was doing. He was just plain TERRIBLE.

Rain, on the other hand, despite his terrible English enunciation, was AMAZING! It was so great to see him in a true “bad guy” role for a change. I do hope that the powers-that-be in Hollywood can look past the movie’s flaws and at least take note of Rain’s incredible screen presence. Seriously, whenever he was onscreen, it was difficult to watch anything else that was going on. Which was probably a good thing, because the film sucked so bad, actually. Now that I think about it. LOL.

I do wish, though, that he’d work on his English harder. His not being totally fluent (and always understandable) in English is the one thing that will continue to hold him back here, if he doesn’t do something about it. And soon. I can hear the discussions now. “Well, how about that Rain guy? He’s pretty good.” “Yeah, he’s a pretty good actor, but I don’t think he speaks English well enough to carry the role.” “Oh, well then. Never mind.”

And that being said, I’m gonna go watch all of the Rain parts in The Prince again. LOL.

    • Well, geez Terri tell us how ya really feel!………LOL.

Well, I actually liked the movie and I can honestly say I sure as hell have seen worse. Jason Patric surprised me. This was the first time I actually “noticed” him as an actor. His performance made me pay attention. Bruce….well…..this was just a pay check for him, nothing more. Fiddy….it was what it was, much about nothing. John Cusack….I don’t know what that performance was. However, I’m glad you broached the subject of Rain’s English enunciation first. You know Clouds are a sensitive bunch and not entirely objective where he’s concerned.

Rain’s screen presence was spectacular, your eyes couldn’t help but be drawn to him. He’s the man of 1000 facial expressions. He really knows how to bring his character’s “swag” to life. Swag “fa” days, attitude “fa” days….just Sexy as hell. However, I agree….he is seriously going to have to work on his English more. After watching the movie once, I found there were words you couldn’t quite understand him say. It wasn’t until after I had seen the movie the 3rd or 4th time that I was like ….”oh That’s what he said.” My mother said the same thing when we left the theater, that there were words he said she couldn’t quite understand. Otherwise, she enjoyed the movie. An American audience is going to want to understand you the first time…..period.

We are Clouds who watch a boat load of K-dramas, so we have heard many different levels of native Koreans speaking English. Some good, some not so good. However, if Rain intends to make further inroads into the American film market he needs to get himself around some native English speakers and practice, practice, practice.

Let me say For The Record, we LOVE Rain’s accent and he doesn’t have to lose it completely….BUT he will have to learn how to pronounce certain words better. That’s just the bottom line. Like you Terri, I will be watching this film over and over again. Nothing like a watching a Bad Ass Smooth Criminal who is pretty as “F”……and lord was he damned pretty. Damn near dropped my phone trying to take pics in the theater. LOL……………

    • Don’t be upset Honey Love, noona just wants to tell you true about your performance that’s all. I wouldn’t be a proper Cloud if I didn’t tell you the truth as I see it. I taped the movie when I rented it, so I’m about go and look at “Mark’s” pretty self once again. You have our support always.

Why there was no promotion? There wasn’t even a poster in the theater, but that’s alright. I will be getting this movie VOD tonight…and Clouds your boyfriends and/or husbands will love this movie too. Hubby’s gonna really like this one.
