Imagine you are all of about 19 or 20 years old and have just spent the better part of your teenage years hungry, and hungry on several different levels.  Now imagine your manager comes up to you one day early in your career and asks, “Are you interested in doing a CF where you will probably have to eat ice cream all day?”  I am sure a very young and eager Rain did not hesitate in the least bit when answering that question and jumped right into endorsing Binggrae Ice Cream.  Oh my gosh….are you ready for some absolute adorably cute Rain???

When I watched this CF my heart just burst with happiness.  Young, fresh and eager, I felt like Rain was calling out to me to join him for some ice cream on a hot summer day.  He has a natural and honest way of making you feel like you have been his ‘chingu’ for a long time, doesn’t he?  I bet it has something to do with that smile of his.  So magnanimously warm, sweet and adorable!

When I watch CFs like this one, where he is bursting with such energy and happiness, and filled with such promise, it is hard for me to fully fathom the sadness and hardships he endured or could have easily been enduring at the time this CF was filmed. Nevertheless, as evident in this NG clip, he looks like he is having a blast, even with that not so compliant pint of ice cream!

I think it goes without saying that anything that can draw attention to Rain’s sexy mouth and gorgeous lips is a winning advertisement all unto itself, and one that can most definitely stand on its own. 🙂

Every era of Rain is a special one – these early ones included.  As he excitingly enters his next chapter and third decade, I hope he pauses to remember these early days with fondness and pride, and cherishes them as much as we do.  They are history and all facets of the unique and beautiful jewel that is Rain.
