Please see below, as posted by Overseas Fan Coordinator huhuhuhu @The Cloud English Talk Board today. As far as we know, Rain will still be discharged on July 10. It is just that there will be no event surrounding that allowed by DEMA now.

We’re staying tuned for any more information to come down the pike.

  1. Rain needs some TLC time with family, business and just plain relaxation. I can cancel my flight to Seoul immediately. PEACE!

  2. Just an off-the-record heads up, y’all…

Nothing is official, so let’s please wait for word on The CLOUD, but it may be that we can relax about Rain’s discharge date… As I mentioned earlier, the cancellation of his discharge day events is simply Rain wanting to leave with as low a profile as possible, what with the Korean Media and the public headhunting celebrity soldiers right now. He’s really nervous about being a spectacle and drawing the wrath of these crazy people again.

Earlier in the year, Terri and I had already heard through the grapevine that he was leaning towards going out low-profile anyway, which is why we were telling fans not to get their hopes up about any grand hooplah on that day. I guess as time got closer, we all got excited and he got excited and thus, all the plans for his discharge day came about… With Se7en’s scandal, Rain probably snapped back to reality and went back to his earlier plan — slip the hell out as quietly as possible, run for the hills, and celebrate happily with his Clouds later or somewhere else. Frankly, I think that is wise…

Anyhoos, when official word comes, we’ll post it as soon as we can.

And let us pray for no more monkey wrenches.

  3. I ‘m just happy that he will be back with us in the near future and we get to see him again, I must say this past 2 years has gone by easier than I had anticipated. We did get to see him more often then I figured we would after he enlisted which was nice to see him and how he was doing. But I too appreciate his generosity that he has given to us and I hope that he takes time after his discharge for himself. Like all of his Clouds I love and respect him and always and foremost want the best for him.

  4. I am with you all on this as going quietly is not always a bad thing. I am so hooked that he can always count on me as a supportive Cloud. I think I tweeted this this morning that once he grabs a hold of you one can’t ever let go. I cannot wait for Rain to say farewell to the Army and restart performing as Rain and I so want to be in that audience again if I can make it happen.
I lost all focus on work when I heard about this news. My heart does ache knowing so many had planned on being there on the 10th excited to see him and meeting other Clouds from all around the world.

  7. I have mixed emotions about this, but whatever will work for Rain, I’m all for. I’m buying something sweet for my office to celebrate his discharge. I woulda bought a cake yesterday for his birthday but a sista is on the broke side of payday right now and I don’t get paid till next week. So it just makes me want to do more for his discharge and I’m kinda glad that there will be no public thing because 1) I agree I think he’ll reward his fanse; 2) I want him to have some time to breathe and have a rest; 3) we know and we all can celebrate in our own way. I am sooooo looking forward to him being out, singing and dancing again. On the last Consolatory Train video, you could tell he looked a little happier and less stoic during his performance, I do hope he doesn’t sing those same two songs he’s been singing the last few hundred months, I know he’s got to be tired of them. Don’t get me wrong, I love all his music, but sometimes you gotta let stuff have a rest. Anyways, just my opnion. But I completely agree with Stephe on this

  9. He has given South Korea 2 years of service and us 10 glorious years. Lets not be selfish and respect his feelings.

  10. More than likely, Rain, RAINY, and DEMA just want to get him the heck out of there as quietly as possible, what with the vulturous Korean Media waiting to swoop down on any celebrity soldier for anything. I can’t say that I blame them.

It never fails to amaze me how reporters will not hesitate to whip up hatred for whomever they choose, and how the public just follows along blindly. And how other people’s stupidity always seems to find its way to Rain.

    Poor guy.

I used to be so excited thinking about going to Seoul someday and soaking in all of its tradition and the beauty of its culture. Not now. There is so much ugliness and hatred there, I have been turned completely off. *smh*

    • Stephe,
I completey agree. I thought the reporters in the US were bad, but these guys stoop to a whole ‘nother level. They have no conscience…no morals or ethics, and they certainly don’t care about the truth. Anybody at any time could be their next target. And yes, the people follow along blindly. They don’t care what the truth really is either.

I had been saving to hopefully take a trip to Seoul, too. But, after the incident with KTH, I did not wish to go where they treated people so horribly, and this being a person who has brought nothing but honor and pride to his country.

I hope and pray he gets discharged on time and can put these past 21 months behind him. I am disappointed for all those planning to go to his discharge, but I can understand why he would want to keep it low profile. I hope it works out the way he wants it to and he can start living his life again. All of us, of course, will be waiting.

Thanks for keeping us updated! It is such a relief to know that you and Terri work so hard at getting the truth to us. You guys are most appreciated!

      • Thank you, Liz.

Our hearts are really broken for him and all the Clouds who would have shared his discharge day with him. But a lot of upset Clouds would make Rain feel even worse. We’ve got to keep our chins up and send him the strength and good vibes he needs, not bring the man down with gloom and doom. You know?

Thanks for being so kind to us. Thanks for bringing me a smile. 🙂

        • Agreed. Besides how embarrassing would it have been for the Army brass if Bi came skipping out of the gates and immediately broke into his JiWoo/Carlton dance.

  11. Well that is sad to hear it’s disappointing for sure. But I think he has been generous to us and the media. In return he gets blasted by Reporter that’s enough…I’m deeply sorry..
