    • Flower, the Consolatory Train appears to be the Korean version of what we call USO shows in the U.S. The kind of shows where entertainers come together and/or travel to various military bases around the world to entertain our troops and boost morale.

Where the name came from….??? A native Korean may have to help us out with that one. I try to Google some of these things myself. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes not. (SMILES)

Does anybody else know for sure?……………………………..

      • The Korean word for “consolatory” has several other meanings, I believe, one of them being “entertainment”…

I kind of look at the phrase as meaning “consoling” the troops, easing their fatigue, boosting their morale and keeping them going. Doing them a service in return for the service they do for their country, as you said.

(Thanks, BiA. The USO is a great reference.)

And of course a train is something that travels from place to place making stops. Kind of self-explanatory.
