[From Rain’s Clouds] He’s Your Friend Forever. Don’t Forget.
~Cloud Cover by Terri :-}, Managing Editor
Lovely Clouds,
A few weeks ago, we published an essay by Jon Carsello. His was an incredible tale about the moment in time when he became a devoted follower of Rain and his work.
Well, that essay got me to thinking. Over the two years that Cloud USA has been in existence, we’ve heard quite a few stories from our members. Everybody has some kind of story about Rain and how they have been touched by his magic. Every one of those stories are special.
However, sometimes, we hear stories that touch our hearts in a super special way. Like Jon’s story. And like this story I’m about to share with you from Adrianna, the girl with the red star.
Please enjoy.

He’s Your Friend Forever. Don’t Forget
by Adriana ☆ [the girl with the red star]
My utter and irrevocable love for Rain is not a secret to the members of my family, but it is my mom who understands it the best, because she’s got a singer idol of her own. One day, I was humming With-U while folding laundry, with my usual foolish smile, when it comes to Bi. So, I didn’t notice Mom was around.
Suddenly, she was there, asking, “Are you thinking about your friend?”
“Huh?” I stared at her.
“…I can´t understand a word, but I’m sure what he’s telling you when he’s singing that song to you is lovely,” Mommy continued.
“What are you talking about, Mom?” I asked, blinking like five times in one second.
“I’m talking about your friend,” Mom said.
“What friend?” I asked.
“Shrane!” she said loudly, with that Spanish accent of hers.
I stared for seven long seconds, and she stared back, until finally with a calm voice, I asked, “Who the hell is Shrane?
“Shrane, Shrane! The cute boy you die for! The singer! Your friend!!” She shouted at me.
I thought for a minute. And then I said, “Rain?”
“Uh…How’s it again? Rrr-ain?” She asked softly.
I was laughing so much, but she continued, trying to pronounce his name correctly several times. My Mom doesn’t speak English. We are native Spanish speakers. So, it’s hard for her. Cute!
Still, I had to ask her why she referred to Rain as my “friend,” as if we were close.
She said, “Well, you like him a lot. You follow his life. You’re interested in everything that he does. You smile when he smiles. You cry when he cries. You support his career. You spend hooooours of your life looking at what he’s up to. Besides, you say he cares a lot about his fans—that he loves them lots, that he appreciates your love and support, that he is aware of all that huge love you girls give him. He cares about you all.
“You are included in that, silly! Isn’t that being loved back? Isn’t that how love and friendship works? I know, for you see, I have a “friend” myself too. I like all his songs. I sing all of them. I think about him. I admire him as an artist and as a person. I am his friend and he is my friend, whether we know each other personally or not.”
This was the explanation she gave me, and I totally bought it. I kept it. I embrace it. I loved my mom for conceiving of this bond I have with Rain.
At the time, I could only say, “I guess you´re right, Mommy. Yeah,” as she left my room smiling. But I must confess that I remained in silence for a few minutes—and I wept.
After a few more minutes, I heard the music of that beloved singer of hers playing in the kitchen—and her singing right along with him. And I smiled.

Oh sweet God, Terri. What a feeling [tears of excitment rolling down my cheeks]. I´m so thankful with you for sharing this with all Clouds. This means lots to me. Having Rain has changed the way I see life. The world is a better place for me since I realized his existance. Breathing as he breaths, in the same earth, in the same century. Is Magic to me and I feel incredible blessed for that.
Today while seated at the table on a sunday evening family meal, I told mommy that Terri aked me about the idea of sharing my story on the blog. So, now, my most beloved cousins have clear the magnitude of my love for Bi too. I talked about Rain the entire meal. They got so inspired and promised they´d pay more attention to me when it comes to Rain from now and on.
One cousin said she had never hear someone talking with such passion. Another one said “The man is awesome I already like him, Gosh!”. My sister said that my eyes shone while I was talking about Rain. They asked me so many things about him. My baby sister told me the most touching one: “Big sister, it shouldn´t matter to you if people can´t understand the feelings you´ve got for this man -for he is a star and all- if he is the source of your happiness, the motor for living you never ever leave him. I´m sorry we never listen to you before”. And she hugged me.
My aunt asked me to put on his playlist, and we all started to play poker with Rain singing in the background and once in a while interrupting the game to ask me the story behind some of the 400 pictures a have in my laptop as screensaver.
Magical evening. Thanks Terri, thanks CloudUSA.

Wow, Adry, you had me cracking up for real. Before my mom “came out of the Rain closet”, she used to say the same thing to me. “How’s your friend today?” “My… who?” “Your friend. How’s he doing today?” “My friend?” “You know! Rain. Your Boy. Your friend!” “OHHHH.”
But after she came out, it was just Rain, Rain, RAIN. “Put on some Rain.” LOL
Now her sister, my dear aunt, is bugging me left and right for Rain songs. She heard “Even You” on my computer, saw part of his 2007 World Tour DVD on my TV, listened to a few more songs in my car, and now she will not leave me in peace. It started out with her just wanting to know who this artist was that mom and Jim and I liked so much, but now she’s sweating me big time. “I need my Rain! DO something!”
Yet another eomma/halmoni Cloud is born. 🙂
Thanks so much for sharing your story, Adry. Loved it!

Stephe,
I loved the part “I need my Rain! DO something!” LOL
Oh the Rain/eomma stories we have to tell. Like the day when I rushed to my mom and told “Mommy, I´ve got something very important to tell you. For real, it´s urgent, please go to your fb, I left you a message”. So, she loggs in and finds a new photoalbum I created on my fb account called “Mamá, estoy enamorada de un espécimen de la raza oriental” [Translation: “Mother, I’m in love with a specimen of the eastern race”]. With pictures of Rain all over haha!. As I awaited her reaction she, turns around slowly and says “Okay, now tell me something I don´t know” as she laughs and walks away.
As Cloud Lisa Raymer and Gee say above “moms know best”
Thanks to all Clouds for reading my looooong comments, having an space to express oneself is priceless.

Adriana,
Magical is what we are all about.
It is truly my dream to be able to give every single one of you more magical moments in this life. I swear if I was talented enough, I’d be up on stage singing you songs too, right along with Rain.
But alas, although God may have given me the gift of gab, he did not give me the gift of song. So, I think maybe I’d just better sit here and write instead. :-}
What a spectacular family you have, Adriana. Take care of each other.

Mom’s really knows best. She feels when we love and when we’re sad. She knows what’s who’s real and who’s fake. We should always listen to that kind of wisdom. Great story. When I talk about Rain people really ask me when was the last time I talked to him or saw him. I am amazing at that question. I must really sound like we’re best friends for them to ask that ( to me ) crazy question. Sometimes I lie and go along with the question and say things like, ” Oh! Not long ago”. Or sometimes I tell the truth and they say, ” You got to be kidding, you nevere even met this man and yet you know all that about him. I just smile (big as hell) and say yes. (smiling right now)
P.S. As I type this I am looking at my other friend Bruce Lee, Enter the Dragon. Love him. lol

Aww this story made me cry!! So touching the way Adriana’s mom understands her relationship with Rain! Love it! Rain is the kind of performer who stays with you once you get to know him. His charming personality, that beautiful smile and voice are so special that you feel like he’s a family member. Is weird, I know, but even though I don’t know him personally, I feel like I’ve know him all my life and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way!!
