[Update] The Yellow Ribbon for Rain Calendar will be going to JiHoon for Christmas.

Cloud cover by: Stephe, Managing Editor ^@@^

Greetings, Clouds and Rain fans!

Yes, you read that right. The 2-year Cloud USA Yellow Ribbon for Rain digital calendar that you’ve sent imagery and quotes for, and that Terri is putting together as we speak, will be JiHoon’s Christmas gift this year. Let me tell you why.

When you think about it, it makes a lot of sense, really.

Being in the military now, and a newbie in the military at that, means that Rain’s life has been severely simplified. Frankly, the last thing he needs this holiday is huge boxes overflowing with bunches of presents that he can’t really use, take delivery of himself, or even enjoy. The military is certainly not going to allow delivery of that kind of thing, only cards, letters, and the smallest of items, if that. With him being a free agent now (Terri mentioned earlier in the year that he would be around this time), it’s not clear if his temporary management office can do anything along those lines. And the last thing that his family needs is to be themselves besieged by and responsible for a ton of stuff that Rain can’t have at the moment.

A 2-year digital calendar, filled with fans’ names, imagery, quotes, encouragement, support, and funny things that make him laugh, is like a huge Christmas box from fans condensed down into something compact that, if he chose to, he could actually put to use. There is ease of delivery—it can simply be emailed to our overseas contacts. No bulk to be carried around or in the way, especially where he’s concerned. It’s ideal, and we think he’ll appreciate that. His sister, close friends, and The Cloud will be making certain he has plenty of toiletries and necessities—that’s already a given.

Terri already has all the images she needs for the 24 calendar months. She also has a good amount of quotes from fans, but there is room for more of those. She is attempting to fill up a lot of space, after all… just think of how many days that is. Six hundred some-odd. Your QUOTE and NAME will go into little day blocks  like the ones in this sample calendar, which is why they need to be short and sweet, but meaningful. There’s no telling on what days JiHoon might need a little extra pick-me-up, so we need to stack the deck with as much fan love on as many days as we can.

We feel this is a win-win-win. It’s something that JiHoon could actually use without a lot of headache, if and whenever he wished. Fans don’t have to put out a lot of money on gifts and postage, particularly with the economy being so terrible. With Terri and me being incredibly busy this month with family matters, personal projects, and Cloud USA business (including pre-planning for 2012), we won’t end up overwhelmed.

I’m not sure how much longer Terri will be taking quotes, so if you’d like to be on a day(s) in JiHoon’s 2-year digital calendar, email your quote(s) and name to letitrain@cloudusa.org as soon as you can. Yes, you can send more than one. All Rain fans everywhere in the Cloud USA community are welcome to participate. To all who’ve already sent quotes, thanks so much. If you’ve sent more than “quotes”—more like a paragraph or l-o-n-g message—you don’t have to submit anything else. We’ll simply condense what you said, or pick your most meaningful phrase and let that suffice. We thank you for your support of JiHoon as well.

And please—don’t forget to snail mail your personal Christmas cards and holiday letters to him, at his current military address (which is subject to change when he transfers into formal duty very shortly, so stay tuned).

Thanks, everyone! 😀

  1. I finally did mine and sent a bunch of quotes too, very please with the way it turned out. Hope he likes it.

Thanks again Terri and Stephe for doing this and for letting this procrastinator participate. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

    • I didn’t get to spend time with the calendar on my days off. Have to do that some tonight. Although, I will say we have finally almost nailed down a delivery method. Keep your fingers crossed, ladies.

Dot, I will look at your submission tonight. And you are welcome.

  2. I think is a great idea!! I’m sure Rain would be very busy during the day but at night when he’s alone in bed that’s the time to think and feel the burden of things. So maybe he can’t get to sleep easily and we are there with him to make that time bearable. It will be a great gift he can enjoy at any time. I will do my best to get some quotes so you can include them. Thanks for all your effort ladies and gentlemen from Cloud USA, you are amazing!! 😀 😀 😀

    • Lluvi@k0r3ana,

I’m not sure when I’ll be sending the calendar off, honestly. It depends on how long it takes me to complete. It is a crazy month for me, so I’m doing this as I have time. So, I will get it done a quickly as I can. I’m thinking that I would like to have it out of the way by about the 20th of the month, so that our contacts in South Korea will have time to get it to him before Christmas.

As for the quotes, everyone just please send them to me as quickly as you can. The more time I have with them, the better the design and placement will be, I think. But the more we have the more effective the gift will be.

I’m pretty easy going and we’d rather LOTS of people participate than too few. And so I’d rather not pick a hard and fast deadline at this point. As Christmas gets closer, I’m sure I will make a decision on that, but for now, just send me stuff, would ya?

      Thanks to those of you who have already sent me items to include. Everything I’ve received so far is lovely and genuine and wonderful. :-}

  5. I think this was/is a great project and I’m so happy to have been a part of it. In addition to your post Stephe, I thought about it this way also. This is really the only time any of us can even HOPE to have Direct Contact with the celebrity that is JiHoon. Think about it. When he gets out of the military and goes back to being a celeb. Fans having THIS KIND of direct contact with him, will almost be non-existent. Now, we can write directly to him, send stuff directly to him and since he can’t really come and go as he pleases…..He’s STUCK….Smiles….with our stuff! Any other time, contact with a celebrity of his caliber would only be by happenstance. So any chance I get to have contact with Bi….DIRECTLY…I’m gonna do it. So thanks again to you ladies for bringing us another great project idea.
