[info] It might be possible to send JiHoon a handwritten letter at this time.

{*Edited to Add: JiHoon is now indeed being allowed to receive letters from his fans! Please see additional information HERE! The address here in this post is good as well! Happy writing, all!}

ORIGINAL POST
Please read everything in this post carefully. Do Not Skim.
As we understand it, Rain fans, this is where to send handwritten letters to JiHoon/Rain at this time.
HOWEVER: 1) Seeing as he is in Boot Camp/basic training, it may be that only family is allowed to write him until these initial eight weeks are finished. So we cannot tell you that your letter will either see the light of day or be accepted. (When basic is over and he gets his formal duty papers, that particular location is where all of our letters should be able to go without that problem.) 2) We don’t expect that anything but letters are being accepted at this time, except maybe from family. And 3) English speakers, please make sure you address your envelope exactly like this (Romanized Hangul) for the best chances of it getting through. The military is very picky.
°
FYI: Just an observation for 8th Clouds…
Some of you may not have read all of our previous instructions about the Cloud Letter section on Rain’s official Cloud Fan Site, because you aren’t addressing your Cloud Letters with JiHoon’s proper designation: 12중대 2소대 1번 정지훈 훈련병. This should at least go in the subject line. You can also put it at the top of your actual message for good measure, before you begin writing, if you’d like. This would be the safest thing to do.
The Cloud will be diligently copying your letters of love and support over to Unit KEY’s (열쇠부대) personal Cafe over on Daum. Without JiHoon’s proper designation, if your message is printed out for delivery (rather than possibly read online later), military officials will not understand who to deliver it to, and in their haste they will skip it.
Thanks.

Well, I didn’t put the battalion info in the subject line cuz I don’t have the way to put hangul characters. These means I need to get them to send the email or is there another way? I tried to copy/paste the whole battalion info but it didn’t work. Heeelp pleease!! 😦

Hi, Mari.
Are you sure you can’t select, copy and paste? That’s what I’ve been doing because I’m afraid of typing the information incorrectly. I just C & P’d 12중대 2소대 1번 정지훈 훈련병 into my Cloud Letter subject line and my letter itself about five minutes ago. ????
Try it again and let me know… that is weird…

Hi, Kongsao. We don’t know the answers to any of that, with him isolated in boot camp and all. If you want to write him, just go ahead and do it, whenever you’d like.
In eight weeks, when he’s moved on to where he’s going to actually serve, we should have more of those details then (and a new address).

Cool, now I am not really familiar with sending anything out of the US. Anything specific that needs to be added to the envelope before mailing?

Ceci,
No, just make sure that you address the letter so that the people in the country you are sending it to can understand it. That’s why the example of an envelope at the top of the page is written in romanized Korean, and not in English.
If you address the letter exactly like the example (adding your return address to the letter in English), it will get there.
Your mail carrier will also assist. They will know exactly what to do.

Exactly, if you send it addressed Exactly as it’s spelled out, they should receive it there. I know in the U.S. military mail that hubbie got had to be addressed to a specific FPO address. I told “write it JUST LIKE THIS.” I’m like “Ok mister…geez!”
I think I’ll just stick to sending correspondence via the Cloud Letter because JiHoon is going to get a “boat load” of physical fan letters and packages and there’s no way he’ll be able to read all or even keep a fraction of them. He might and that’s a strong might, get to read some from the internet. But the military probably has to curtail celebrity mail, I’m assumming. Just my opinion. But I know this is the only option for those who are not 8th Cloud members.
