July is nearly over already. Can you believe it? Sometime next month, Rain will finish up his 비상 (飛上)/Flight movie filming, and be staring his Korean concerts right in the face. Out of the frying pan and into another fire! It’s a good thing he appears to be fireproof. 🙂

See you later this week, everyone!

  1. WOW! have I missed a lot! hahahahaha first off I want to say WOT (web of truth) We clouds need to watch out for each other and theres a lot of nasty crap floating around the web, my account hasn’t been hacked but its still not working right so I’ll be taking it back in AGAIN!

And y’all already know how I feel about the MS thing, its just not all about Jihoon, and BiA I agree with you I’m not doing all that crazy crying stuff, he ain’t my man. But still not a fan of it.

The hair thing hell I’ve had that damn problem my whole life from our own people! Black and white always touching it so it doesn’t bother me anymore. I went to get my hair trimmed (not even a inch) and the Bit*h cut my damn hair off at the shoulders!! I was in shock! and went to my sister n laws and all hell broke lose I had to hold her back from beating the hell out the girl cops were called and then when my other family and friends saw it, lets just say the chick could no longer work there.

Another time a brother asked me if the hair between my legs was as long as the hair on my head? WTF! I’ve had a lot of rude things come my way from all kinds of people It just depends on the situation on my reaction, I blow off a lot of stuff because people are ignorant or some are truly curious. I’ve traveled a bit and a lot of people don’t know what I am because we are so diverse, I’ve had some ask if I speak english? And someone on fb asked if I was Malaysian when I told her what I wasn’t she said she couldn’t speak to me? What was that about? When my brother went to Hawaii he said ” sis they all look like you everywhere I turned” ( I was adopted) Story for another time.

One of my sister n laws is from Thailand and oh lord the stuff she’s told me ? hahaha unreal, you sisters going to Rain’s concert please do us proud not just as clouds but as African American women. We already have such a bad reputation thats not all true and they are behind in the times and just don’t know. I so hate stereo typing, and I’m so sick to death of hearing negative crap about us. If we feed into what they don’t know instead of trying to make them understand us things will take longer to change.

We have to be more forgiving of some ignorance UNLESS its just mean, hell let them touch your hair and feel your skin and then ask them. Am I any different than you? REALLY? Again I have to say the media and even gangster rap has really done a number on us as black women and as a culture. Sorry done preaching….

It’s ok, I just thought to bring the MS news cuz its about Rain, sounded important and I was a bit worried about him, the way it was posted and wanted to ask you about it. That’s all. About Hyung Bin, yes I saw that and I think is a good idea but at the same time I hope he can be sincere about his story. That he can talk about the good and the bad of his experience openly without sounding that he is doing it to promote the military service. Right now MS is going thru some tough times and people are questioning if it should continue the way it is or if its time to change it. He is a great actor, his opinion is important so people are going to be influenced by him. The same goes with Rain so I don’t know how sincere they could be. We’ll have to wait and see what approach he will take. It’s gonna be interesting, that’s for sure.

    • What I really wish is that the whole situation on the Korean peninsula could be resolved peacefully and without any more malice. I wish the North government would just step the heck back and find something else to do with itself rather than always wanting to be in conflict. If that would happen, then there would be no more need for South Korea’s military to be on alert OR a draft. Blast it.

I am praying for the USA to get it together with the butget cuz a vulnerable nation is an easy prey to attack and their enemies are waiting. If the USA looks vulnerable, N. Korea can make a move to S. Korea and that can end bad. I truly hope this situation ends quicky so we all can breathe again.

  7. Hi girls!!

Just to say that yesterday there was a rumor about Rain saying that his MS was going to start on October 4. I don’t believe a word till you say is true cuz I know you investigate the matter and you find the true. They said today it wasn’t true that there’s not a definitive date BUT his concerts are posted thru September 25 and his company said that maybe he won’t be able to get the new album on time. Hummm, I know Oct. 4 is NOT the date but it makes sense that is close to that date cuz we know Rain is not the
type of man to waste any time. I know Rain is sincere with his fans but maybe he is thinking is
better to just said it when is close to the date so
we don’t have much time to feel anything but shock. Well, is just a thought, cuz yesterday it was like bam!! Reality check!! And it was a hard
blow in the heart. Sighhh What do you think?

    • I say you have the right idea for the moment, Mari. Take it with a grain of salt for now.

What I find funny as hell is that all anyone is really saying is the same thing that everyone already knows, just in a different way as if it is updated news or something. Rain going in from “October to December” IS THE SAME THING AS “going in the latter part of 2011” AND “going in at the end of the year.” LOL! And any fool in the Media can figure that if his last concert is the end of September, If I write that he’s going in somewhere from October to December, I’ll end up being right. ROFL!!

I mean, Jesus, he IS going in sometime between October and December, right? We all already know that, right? Where’s the news or the surprise in that?

Of course, we’ll check everything out as best we can and get back with y’all. Unless a date comes out of Rain’s mouth, everybody should just chill out.

      • Thanks! I am trying to take it easy, seriously, but yesterday they said the news was coming from the Military Manpower Administration for pete’s sake. It sounded pretty official to me!! Well, I guess the media went overboard with this one! The shock was hard to tell you the truth but then I took a breath and said to myself, if it’s true then the girls will say somethin so when nothing came I chilled out. Geezz, I don’t want to know how hard it must be for Rain.

        • I hear you, Mari.

All I’m saying is that Rain enlisting from October to December is something we’ve all been expecting anyway, for months and months, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to anybody. This October 4 date may be true or it may not. I just want to have Rain confirm it in addition to the MMA and/or J.Tune.

I will say that I don’t think it’s so much worrying about enlisting that’s got him down — he’s tough, he’s a man, he can handle it, he’s got that — but the fact that his fans are seeming to fall apart over it. That’s got to be just killing him. *sigh*

Did you hear about the new book that’s coming out about HyunBin’s experiences in the military so far? Sounds so interesting! And I can just see somebody writing one about Rain too, I mean what an opportunity, who wuldn’t?

          • You know at the risk of pissing people off. I must say Perspective is the word I ultimately use (in my head) when it comes to my personal admiration (on ALL levels) for Bi. I don’t want to diminish anyone’s feelings of sadness that he has to go serve his country, but at the same time I have to say to myself how “torn up” should I be over a man leaving for two years, who’s not my man. Speaking only for myself, I Will miss his pretty face and his talents, but I just can’t put in the kind of sadness that seems to be affecting so many others. At the end of the day, I have a wonderful hubbie with me so I can’t produce that kind of sadness for another man (no matter how beautiful and talented he is). I can’t forget (even through All my crazy comments) that in my world Bi is still only an entertainer (albeit an extraordinarily beautiful and talented one) that I have never met and probably never will meet, so I can’t cry for him like that. I will, however, Always be concerned for him and send up prayers and good vibrations for him while he serves, as I would for any of my fellow human beings. I agree with you Stephe, the thought that people may go off the deep end would and probably is distressing him like a motherf__ker. I would go on to say, that as much as many of us love and admire him, None of us will miss him more than his own father and sister. They are the ones who Know what his physical presence on the day-to-day really means. My hope is that we are all able to “hold it together” for him now and when he finally goes to serve. I can only Imagine the “weight” of the thought of serving one’s country must feel like……a ton of damned bricks no doubt. I look at it like this….. Bi is a man of 29/30 who has traveled the world, living his dream, become quite successful and rich and will, prayerfully, serve his two years safely and then return to the stage/movie screen and to the “waiting arms” of his fans. Who we really need to cry for are the thousands of 18 year old enlistees around the world, who haven’t even Begun to “live life” yet or accomplished a fraction of the things Bi has.

            *Just my thoughts*…………………………………………..

            Like

          • In my opinion, as much it saddens me that Bi will be in the military for a bit. It’s nothing compared to how I felt when my husband was in the military. I guess what I am trying to say is that even though as much I love Bi as an actor/singer etc…, I can’t see myself getting so worked up about this. I mean after all the things that I have seen from Bi, movies, dramas and performances. He is still a stranger, I mean I don’t know him personally. Not trying to be insensitive or anything, I mean I hope he remains safe and in good spirits. I can’t imagine the stress he must be feeling for the concern of his fans. However Bi is a strong person and I am sure he will be alright and whenever he comes back…..we can be guaranteed that he will make an explosive come back. My two cents.

You’re from Panama too? Very cool! It was really great growing up there because I got to live around and meet people of all nationalities. I grew up in the area called the Canal Zone where the American people lived and where the military bases were and I went to school with people from all over the world. It’s a beautiful country. I didn’t really fully understand how privileged I was to grow up there till I moved to the U.S.

I’ll share some pics I found coz I’m feeling nostalgic. A few of the pics are super old but it looked the exact same when I lived there… lol. Hope you enjoy:
A pic of close to where I lived in Panama. My elementary school is right there to the left. My high school to the right.
View From Panama Canal Administration Building

My high school, except there used to be an American flag flying next to the Panamanian flag. 🙂

My jr. high… that dome was the cafeteria.

And I’m so excited I found this pic! I lived 2 blocks straight ahead of this street pictured:

    • So you went to Balboa High School, cool. During my childhood i was able to go inside the Panama Canal Zone cuz a friend of my mom was member of the US Army. The rest i just heard about it on history lessons. i went to Instituto Fermin Naudeau during high school. Panama has change so much. Your Jr. high school now belongs to Universidad de Panama and my university graduation was in that dome that was your cafeteria before.
Have you ever come back to Panama since you left Diva?

      • Actually I haven’t. I’m not sure if I want to, to tell you the truth, because the Canal Zone is so different now. I might cry! I want it to stay the same in my memory… you know? I still have lots of cousins and aunts and stuff there though.

I’m Panamanian but we lived in CZ because my mom worked for the Army and my stepdad worked for the Department of Defense.

I dont get touched but I often get spoken to in different languages by strangers EXCEPT for greek which is my own culture. Ive heard Spanish, Arabic, Indian…lol. I do have dark skin and eyes compared to most greek people mainly because my parents’ home country, Cyprus, was conquered many times in its history. Folks there are basically mutts and vary in color and appearance. Even other greek people (from mainland Greece) dont recognize me as greek. It’s really funny sometimes but annoying too.

  13. Well, for those of you that don’t know, I am a puertorrican milky redhead with blue eyes and during my childhood I was the freaky girl in my class cuz the other children were tanned with brown eyes and brown hair. People used to touch my hair, my cheeks cuz I was shubby too and said all sort of things, like I looked like an angel, like Annie or Shirley Temple or they talked to me in english thinking I was american. I think that’s why I was so shy then cuz I wanted to be like everybody else but I wasn’t. Now, I have learned to accept people’s curiosity but as a mom, nobody but family touch my girls, specially the younger one who’s milky skinned and blue eyed like her mom. It’s difficult for her too cuz usually she stands out and she wants to be tanned like her sister but can’t take too much sun. I think that you just have to teach your children that there are different people in our world so they don’t be too surprise when they see someone different.

    • i was thinking the something similar the other day. how does it feel to live in a country when most people look almost exactly the same. You know for us is almost impossible to identify a japanese from a korean or chinese. So in my country they are all called chinese. i don’t think they like but they got used to it. Now Japanese and Korean people are very closed culturally talking. the language and their looks doesn’t help either. it is not like us spanish speaking that we can talk with almost all latin people excluding USA, Belize and Brasil. So i think that for them seeing someone so physically different to them. is almost like seeing an alien from another planet. So of course they will try to touch you in weird ways. I feel bless by the fact that my country Panama is so mixed. Since our country was born as a nation black, chinese, jewish, indian, white, native people has been part of our nation. We are so mixed culturally and physically. The other day i went to a place in my own country and a lady asked me if was indian. So far from the truth. i don’t even have any relatives from indian and i have a big back side that is screaming black origins out loud.
i just got so used to the be treated as a weird person at my school in Baltimore. The girls can’t believe my hair is real and that i don’t wear extensions so they touch it all the time and the boys keep asking me why i have so much hair on my arms. I just keep telling them, cuz i was born like this. The good thing about it is that know they are used to it and they won’t see another people of my origins like they are from another planet. Countries that are not culturally diverse needs to be exposed more often with people of different countries, religions, culture and languages. That way it wouldn’t be so much hate or misconception towards other people due to ignorance.

When I was younger at school some of the girls looked at me strange….kinda like..”Ok, so what are you?” As if that was an indication to talk to me or not. Very odd to say the least.

  14. Grls when I was in Germany 1979-1982. I use to braids my daughters hair and German women were always finding a way to touch there hair. I didn’t say anything but I knew that was because they didn’t see many blacks and they wanted to know what their hair felt like. My oldest daughter is grown but still has long and beautiful hair. She went over to a guy she was dating’s family and she said the aunts and cousins kept feeling through her hair to see if it was a wave. I did laugh at that. But girls no damn way would I like or allow someone to touch my stomach when I was pregnant. I would have freaked out. I too have serious personal space issues.

P.S. Not to change the subject but Steph and Terri have you heard of any USA clouds going to Korea for the Concert and were they lucky enough to get a Fan Seat? I can go and want to go but with no concert ticket no way. Rain is the only reason I would spend that kind of money.

  15. I was on another site a moment ago and read something very interesting, in particular to those of us who are AA. The article was about random people feeling they can just reach out and touch natural AA hair. Someone stated in one of the comments that when she was stationed in Korea, noticed that Koreans were super obsessed with black children and will touch your child’s head in a minute. The commenter goes on to state that the first thing she learned how to do was cuss somebody out in Korean. I’m curious to know has this ever happened to anyone at Cloud USA on their travels? and if so, what did you do? I personally feel this is a Major intrusion of personal space I don’t care how curious you are and I know it doesn’t just happen in Korea. I have had my hair touched by a stranger, (my permed AA hair) right here in good ole USA at a church event, of all places. I was pissed and it felt really, really weird because 1) I was in the middle of talking to someone and this individual just came up and started touching my hair and was quite complimentary, but I was stunned and so was the person I was talking too. The stranger kept touching my hair as we (myself and the person I was talking to) kept slowly moving away. We moved and he moved right along with my head. There was awkward laughter in disbelief, like WTF. I said hey “talk to you later” and moved the hell away. I was pissed, but I was at church so I couldn’t exactly go off. I’m just curious………………………….

    • Yeah,

This happens to white girls too, actually. When I was younger it happened all the time, cause I had, like, “Brooke Shields” hair. LOL. Now, not so much. But every now and then it still does. In fact, just happened the other day, right, Stephe? LOL. I’ve NEVER gotten used to it. And YES, it’s weird as hell.

      Don’t know what to do about that though. All I can say is ya’ll PLEASE don’t start an international incident, okay? And if you do, PLEASE don’t tell them you’re from Cloud USA. Okay? Thanks. :-}

That being said, I imagine the curiosity is simply getting the better of their good judgement. That’s all. I’ve never thought anyone meant any offense by it. It’s sort of like how people always touch a pregnant woman’s stomach. That so freaked me out at first, but after a few months, I just sighed. LOL.

    • WOW, what happened to you sounded rude as hell, BiA! Good thing you were in church, or I dare say somebody might have reached out and drawn back a nub.

And thank goodness Terri’s wasn’t quite so invasive. More like an Oops what did I just do, sorry, awkward type of thing. Heheh. Poor guy, she just had him mesmerized. I’m glad you cut him some slack, chingu. LOL

I’ve had a few close calls, but no one has actually put hands in my adult hair without permission. Thank goodness, because I do have a personal space issue. (If people weren’t so unpredictable and crazy, that wouldn’t be necessary. If you could TRUST people to stay in their right mind and have common sense while standing close to you, you wouldn’t have to be a pit bull on guard.) For some reason, I got used to people touching my pregnant tummy, I don’t know why, it became more of a funny, camaraderie type of thing, they were just so embarrassed, and took the time to share their names and a funny story and actually talk to me as if I were a human being and not an object once they had “deflowered” my tummy ROFL. I don’t know.

The world is just too dangerous and crazy these days, so as far as I’m concerned the BEST policy is don’t invade any man, woman, or child’s private space unless you’re invited in. And that includes hair. Just DON’T. It ain’t cool.

      • Yeah, I thought it was rude……I was so taken aback I didn’t know how to respond especially being where I was. This happened years ago, I was a young adult in my early twenties. My immediate reaction was to “slide” away without causing a “scene” but instead of getting the message, he just kept moving as we moved. That’s when the awkward laughter happened mainly from the lady I was talking to. Through her laughter she says, “seems you have an admirer”. I said “well I guess so.” It was a brief but bizarre moment and I never forgot it. (SMILES) An acceptable touch would be a hand shake if you’re being introduced to someone for the first time, that’s okay. However, I agree with you Stephe, you shouldn’t touch people unless you’re invited to otherwise.

    • I had that happen to me too by an Indian girl who asked me if black girl’s hair can grow long. I said yes some black girl’s hair is long and some is short, it’s a personal perference on how long she wants her hair to be.

Then out of nowhere, she cames up behind me and starts feeling my (relaxed) hair and saying “oh it’s soo soft.” Like what the H? How was it supposed to feel!? I was really angry and I think she realized I was and apologized, I just walked away shaking my head…no no no!

There are a lot of “Black Women in Korea” type of videos on YouTube who talk about their experiences living and working in Korea. Some are funny, some aren’t so funny, and some are just down right hurtful on the part of how Korean’s precieve black women to be. Also, from what I’ve learned from watching those black women’s youtube videos. It’s curiosity, most Korea’s don’t see or even know any black people so they are OVERLY curious about black people and some are OVERLY touchy.

      • I’ll have to go to YT and watch a few of those videos. You know I can understand curiosity, but at the same time what makes them think they can just reach out and touch someone Just because they are curious? That’s the part I don’t get. I would never think I could just randomly touch one of them.

Yeah, also the whole “it’s so soft” is what kills me too. I guess Black hair is supposed to feel like a Scotch Brite scouring pad. This is why I try my best to learn about other cultures so I don’t unknowingly overstep someone’s personal and cultural boundaries.

        • Lollllllllll! @ scotch brite scouring pad. I guess that’s what they expect. I was talking about this last year when that movie about “good hair” came out. This woman I know has super long dreds and was telling me how random people used to touch her hair all the time. Sighhh…

    • This reminds me of something else my friend was telling me in a conversation that we had. She was telling me that in Asian countries that AA/Black people are so rare that “we’re like unicorns”

Weird analogy, I know Lol. But I can’t really think of a better analogy. I’m not sure if I can explain this correctly, but in Asian countries it’s like we are that rare. So in some cases people get so curious that sometimes it gets worse than hair touching.

She’s told me that at some points, people’s arms have been licked because of a strange description that AA/Black skin has been described to have a “chocolate flavor”. I don’t really know what to make of this…

However, this touching is actually more common that it happens with the older generations than the younger. Most younger generations are more used to the idea of foreigners.

Of course I could be wrong, as the arm licking thing did happen in Japan so I’m not sure if it would carry over

      • Alls I can say is if someone ever licks my arm or any other part of me without permission, I really hope they do not plan on ever using that tongue again, because I truly do not know how I would manage to refrain from clocking them in their mouth. That is SO NASTY and STUPID. Talk about germs and viruses and all kinds of nastiness. It wouldn’t even be fair to call it ignorance because any person from a civilized modern society has no business believing that any human being has a flavor. Sure, we might look like delicious mouth-watering chocolate {^_^}, but let’s use our brains, please!

        • I agree with you reddrogue……100%!

You know, I get that there is some ignorance of other ethnic people within the Asian culture and can even understand that there would/could be among the older more rural Asians, however with that said, I just don’t get how a Thinking individual would deduce that someone tastes like chocolate (or any flavor for that matter) because their skin is brown like chocolate. My question would be, what the hell is Your flavor then?, cause surely you’ve licked your own damn skin (in comparison) and it Must taste like something. What……no flavor, then what would make that person Think that another human being (with two arms, two legs, two hands and two feet same as them)…….has a damned flavor? C’mon now. This is where something else way deeper than ethnic ignorance is going on. Of course it would take a sociologist and a psychologist to explain just exactly what that is. There’s LOTS of things in this world I’ve never seen or heard of, but if I were to see something new I might be curious yes, but I wouldn’t get an automatic impulse to reach out and touch it and certainly not lick it. See, to me, there is something within that says to these individuals they have The Right to touch/lick you Because they are curious. It’s not Just the being curious alone, they feel their curiosity gives them the right to “explore/question” however they choose, whether it makes the foreigner uncomfortable or not. Also, you’re on their “turf” a guest in their country, they’ve got home field advantage. Honestly, I think some (not all) of them know Exactly what they are saying and doing (*my opinion*) by overstepping personal boundaries, they just don’t give a damn.

One other thing, I think the whole “Asians staring at foreigners” thing probably needs to start dying off. I think now more foreigners seem to be going to Asian countries to teach English so even Asians living in the countryside are beginning to come in contact with other ethnic people. So why stare? We’re human beings just like you, albeit a little darker/hair a little curlier, but nonetheless just like you. Now if you encounter something that looks like a little green E.T. …..instead of trying to lick it you might wanna put your running shoes on and get to stepping!

Like those people that instead running away from the scene after hearing a shooting or after getting a Tsunami warning, what do they do? They go directly to the danger zone waiting to get kill by their own stupidity.
