MTV World K revisits Rain Live in New York…
… with a most excellent slide show this month.
And might I add: the K-pop fans that Rain “brought the house down on” were of all shapes and sizes, colors and ethnicities in this great Melting Pot that is the U.S. of A.
It really pleased him, that women of every color imaginable found him so special, and it certainly took him by surprise. A documentary from that time even quotes him as being sincerely flattered and having an absolute epiphany when not only Asian women and white women, but also black women approached him on the streets gushing with love and admiration. “I can make it here. I want to make it here.”
Yes you can, Ji-Hoon. And yes you will.

Yes! I watched that documentary recently… He looked so surprised as he said it, like he was still in awe of that fact. Rain… let me tell you… women of all ages, shapes, sizes and races love you here and all over and we’d love it if you came back to visit. 🙂

If it is the same documentary I am thinking about, where it is him talking to an older Korean celebrity, then I know exactly the one. Yes, he said black women tell him they love him, white women tell him they love him and so that is really what prompted him to start in earnest to crossover to the U.S. market.
