[Cloud USA] Bi Yourself Open Thread for the week of 9/6-9/13.
Terri and I have been thinking. (Uh-oh… watch out! 😛 ) It occurred to us that there are probably times when you all may feel the urge to comment on a subject that has no current post. Or you may want to simply communicate with other fans. So… we’re going to give a weekly Open Thread a try.
The open thread will be stickied at the top of the media blog for easy locating. Our only requirements are that everyone respect each other and respect Rain. (Please don’t read this to mean that this has to be some kind of Praise Fest. Everyone, even Ji-Hoon, ticks somebody off at one time or another. We’re just saying play nice.)
And of course, don’t forget that our Cloud USA Forum is a most excellent place for Rain love, fan communication, and self-expression.

In case no one has mentioned it, I am all about totebags, so if you ladies are going to do logowear, please consider doing some bags! I don’t do hats and rarely get to wear t-shirts (although I will still buy it when you make it available cuz i’m down to support), but between work and the library and the bubble tea house, I can ROCK a totebag.
Also, ADDICTED coffee & tea drinker here, so a CloudUSA mug, both desk and travel versions, would be fantastic!

I’m totally all over the t-shirt thing. If you do the loose boy style tee, I’d take a medium, but if you do the girlie more fitted tees, I’d take a medium or large, depending on how they fit. I loooove hats and love to wear them layed to the side like our lovely Ji Hoon does. Not so into baseball caps though. I’m excited! Can’t wait for everyone to know I’m a proud member of Cloud USA…

So…. I was trolling the internet for Rain info this morning and came across some news. Apparently on Monday Rain wore “Mickey Mouse shorts” out and about to breakfast and then to filming (!!!). According to a fan, they seemed “too cute to wear anywhere but the bedroom”. I’m dying to see if someone posts video or pics of this. That sounds HELLA short!

I’m trying to envision these shorts and frankly, I’m spazzing over here. The only Mickey Mouse “shorts” I have ever seen on a guy was a pair of boxers my youngest son had once. Those had little bitty “Mickey Mice” all over them. And they were RED. ROFL. And sadly, that is the image I had in my head when you mentioned this.

Okay,
If I WERE to order Cloud USA tee-shirts (and stuff), how many people would be interested in purchasing them? And in what sizes? I need to get some sort of general estimate, so I can get an idea of how many items to order.
ALL proceeds would, of course, go to the cost of maintaining the Cloud USA fan site.
(And we’re just working on an estimate here, to see if there is any kind of interest in such a thing, since we keep getting inquiries.)

Did anyone else notice how many screams and whoops Rain let loose during the Intensity concert? He must’ve been so excited to perform after so long. I bet he went into that concert thinking that he was going to MAKE SURE that everyone left there a fan. Tear it up, Rain!

Hi Stephe!! I am fine, just a little busy with senior prom activities but still here for the looooong run!!! Rain’s performance in the Phillipines was sooo good that I am jelous!!! That put me to think *not good* Can we send a letter from all of us to JTunes asking for a concert here in the US??? That way if they don’t know about us, we can “iluminate” their path and let them know that we exist, that we want Rain, his music, his videos and stuff in this side of the ocean. We can send them our statistics and show them that his fan base is growing fast here in the US and we want to see him in concert. Maybe DN who is in Korea can help us with the delivery. I want to see him sooo bad and I am sure there are lots of his new fans that feel that way. I don’t know, just a thought. AZA AZA FIGHTING!!!!!!

Didn’t they say that Rain performed 9 songs during the concert? So far I’ve only seen fan cams for 5 songs. Hopefully someone will post the others soon! 🙂

Hi!!! I must said that I am in love with this site cause it keeps me informed on Rain’s every move. Thanks sooo much to all the staff for that. The Phillipines thing got me worried but I think he made an excellent show and fans should be very happy with that. He came across really charming to me in the videos. In the interview he was not himself and something bothered him. But then he is human and maybe that day he was stressed and with no time to sleep, yeah, he must have been cranky. Who wouldn’t?? Artists have a schedule from months before that no matter how they feel, they must fulfilled it but in Rain’s behalf he got the military and JTunes antics behind his back. The pressure over him must be off the charts!!!! I guess the Phillipines incident was the drop that filled the glass. Also, this is what we know so far; maybe there are other things in play that we don’t know about. I think we should pray that he can get out of this stressful time unharmed.

Hi guys! Probably this may sound so dumb- I always access this site through my mobile phone and I don’t have a problem watching the videos. However, last night I had time to open my laptop and had problem watching the vids because of multiple music playing in the background? It’s the first time since I joined this forum that I used my laptop in accessing this site and was very impressed with what I see– it looks very different from the mobile access I have. Today though marked my 5th month of being an avid Rain follower!!! I love him more and more no matter what they say 🙂 and I want to know more about him everyday:)

I’m not sure what could have happened concerning the multiple music playing… the only time that’s happened to me is when I’ve had multiple windows open and don’t realize it (which is easy to do because I usually set everything on this site to open up in a new window whenever people click on stuff)… If it happens again, do give some more feedback and hopefully one of us here can help…

Hi Diva,
It’s difficult with our schedules to actually “plan” a chat night. We usually just show up over on the forum when we have time. For example, I was able to go over there last night for awhile. What I do try to do though is send out a tweet whenever Stephe and I do manage to get over there for a chat. That’s probably the best we can do right now.
Maybe someday, we will be able to settle down enough to have a “regular” chat night. In the meantime, you might want to go check the forum now and then in the evenings (USA time), because there is often someone over there dishing about Rain anyway–even without me and Stephe.

@Nefertari….hi there….you’re certainly not alone. i have strong feelings about this too. it’s been said on this blog that understanding and consideration for Rain must be used by fans. especially when we have seen him getting hurt before. no, he doesn’t look comfortable there, who would? and why should you be expected to? they seem to want him to act like they want him to act, instead of attempting to find out if maybe, just maybe it’s their own false perception. like i said before there are vids upon vids that dispell how they see Rain. so, i am incline to think it’s just the thinking of the people. but, now other fans have shown up in the Phillipines to show Rain love from Japan, Singapore, Macau and China and hopefully they will communication with fans in the Phillipines and share the real person Rain is with them. at any rate, i happy to know that others are there for him who knows him much better.

First I love this picture of him,is a favorite now! And second I’ve said recently on several pictures that he looked tired and now we all know what this poor man is going through, I wish he had his special woman with him during this because he truly needs someone to confide in and to hug him and let him know its gonna be ok! And once this contract is up,I’m sure he will not be renewing it after all this time they have showed their true colors in which are not to JiHoon’s benefit but just their own and not very smart at that! JiHoon I know you just want to do your work and not worry about the rest but in your business this is just not advisable as Terri has said when money is in play family and friends will turn on you or not always give the best advice even though they probably mean well. JiHoon this is your life and the ones who love you really want the best for you and try and give you good advice, but you need to be the one to control your money and assets etc. It’s not hard even if you have someone manage your money you still need to been on top of it we hear all the time where famous or wealthy people have been ripped off from their money managers or something else cause they just let others take care of it, All this stuff with jtune should have showed you some very important lessons. I know it will all work out for the best but for now this is a learning to not be forgotten, I will continue to always pray for you and I send you love and strength and please stop worrying so much of others and more for yourself!(its not selfish)just good business! Hello Everyone! I just have to say this is the most awesome blog about Rain. I am so glad I found it. I guess I consider myself a new cloud. I learned about Rain in late 2007 and liked his music, thought, he was really handsome, but didn’t really follow him more closely until maybe about 4 months ago when I found out he was in Ninja Assassin. I didn’t even realize that was him from the promo pics. In reading more about him, he seems like a really cool chap with a killer smile, kind spirit, goofy/awkward/shy/silly in a really adorable way and ridic work ethic.
(Please bare with me, this has been on my mind for the last few days.. I apologize in advance if I offend anyone.)
And yet in the last month, if I hadn’t found blogs like yours and sixtofive1982, he would come off as the ass/villain of the year (it hurt to say that). I mean no disrespect being that this is my first post and I don’t want to start off on the wrong foot, but it appears to be a domino effect of negativity from the media and especially from the Philippines. I am not normally into celebrities and he is the first one I have really been into. IMO, I believe the Philippines have treated him with the most disrespect I have ever seen towards a celebrity and I don’t understand why.It is really frustrating as a new cloud to see this kind of malevolence aimed at one person. I never hear of stories about Brangelina being considered rude or unprofessional for not wanting to have their picture taken or having extra security or not wanting to be touched. Or what about Beyonce never heard her be considered a diva and uber snob when she did her world tour abroad. (I could be wrong though.) I find it amazing that he appears to be the one receiving this kind of flak, but it doesn’t just seem to be coming from the just the media either, it also seems to being coming from “fanemies” and haters alike. I am sorry if I am babbling on but its beyond my comprehension why these people have decided to target him. I give him major kudos for his professionalism at the press con. He appeared tired and agitated to me from a short clip I saw. I think it takes a big person to come out and face the people who have been slandering your name and defaming your character, when it is so apparent that you are not to blame for not appearing on the 6th , which was his day off (people still blame him for it and believe he actually stood up the press and just decided to publicly go swimming just to rub it in…does that make sense to anybody?). The poor man has been taking digs left and right and still managed to somehow smile (it looked weak at best) on camera and I read that he waved to people. That takes strength. (Had that been me, my career would have been over, because I would have told some people where they could take their out of control attitudes, beliefs, and made up rules…)
Jung, Ji-Hoon is a stand up chap in my book.
Thank you for listening to my frustrated rant and I hope I haven’t offended too many people.
Oh and one more thought, could the reason why they requested no photos of him was due to the fact that he was filming Fugitive and they didn’t want photos getting out there that would give away important details that the director or the production team didn’t want out before Fugitive was released. A picture is worth a thousand words and people constantly trying to take pictures of him and with him could have captured something the production team didn’t want to be seen. Just a thought.

Hey there Nefertari! I’m sure you’ll love this blog like I do. It’s great. I do agree with you on what you’re saying. A blog is saying that the media in the Phillipines thinks he’s rude and disrespectful because the Phillipines media is like the U.S. media in expecting stars to be more open with their time, etc., and yet they’re saying that the Korean interpreters they have on hand are the worst. Obviously there is some miscommunication going on. But! When Rain was here in the U.S., he didn’t seem to have a problem with the media and he did a lot of interviews and signings. He hasn’t seemed to have any problems with any other countries while he’s been filming Fugitive and doing his last few concerts. I just think the whole thing is weird.

THe ways this man has helped me is beyond, I was able to go a week without eating becaue of an incident where a supposed friend used my cc to fund her skype w/o my permission and I sent the rest of my money home so MOM will be okay. THe cc was attached to the account where I send half my over half or damn near the whole paycheck I get here for teaching to help her out so she will be fine. I will post more later on when I get off work.

As for Rains management, I think he was right to leave JYP and start JTune but I also think he needs a US management team to advise him how to be successful here. We wouldnt want another repeat of his L.A. cancelled concert fiasco. Heaven forbid.

Yeah I was thinking that he looked a little perturbed too. The man needs a break, and I’m sure there were plenty of asinine Q’s being asked anyway, stuff someone else could have answered. In all fairness, though, the whole cast and crew is probably tired. They’ve all been working very hard on this show and I can’t wait to see it!

Well I guess I’ll join in on the fun and say something too.
I first found out about Rain when my husband and I went to see Ninja Assassin in January 2010. We loved it! But when I saw Rain’s name, I thought it was unusual and googled his name 3 weeks later. I’m glad I did that because I found out lots about him LOL! Reading up about him during the time of my father’s illness and eventual death really helped me a lot – gave me something exciting to think about (through God’s mercy and strength and my husband’s love and support, and my son’s and my
Mom’s love and support I am surviving Daddy’s death – he had cancer for 6 years; I miss him so
much 😦 ). Anyways, now I’m a huge fan of Rain, and I’m driving my husband crazy about him LOL! I’m also driving him nuts about my growing interest in MBLAQ and SS501 (I hope SS501 don’t disband – I just found out about them 😦 ). My son is only 10, so he just laughs at my gushing over these stars. Hubby thought my gushing over stars would only contain to Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp and Viggo Mortensen – he was wrong LOL!
Anyways, I’m looking forward to following Rain’s career. He’s a tremendous talent and wonderful human being. May God bless him and protect him always. 🙂

I am very blessed that my dad survived his brain tumor and has regained his health, and that my mom survived her three-year myeloma cancer battle (though she’s just had a lumpectomy and we’re dealing with breast cancer now). I lost my baby brother two years ago, after his four-year lymphoma battle. The Big C has been very unkind to you and me, and a lot of other people. *hugs* On a good note, my middle brother and my son are strong and full of health.
The grace of God, my fiction writing, and Rain have truly provided a soft place for me to fall, so I know what you mean.

I will definitely be praying for SS501 to stay together and to do well in their individual projects. I think what makes them so special aside from their incredible talent is how much like brothers they are – and how deeply they seem to care about one another. I haven’t seen that kind of caring in a vocal group since the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC back in the day (yes, I was once a big fan of both of those groups, and I drove my hubby crazy about them too LOL! 🙂 ).

Your story is eerily similar to mine. I first became aware of Rain after my husband and I rented Ninja Assassin from Blockbuster approximately March 2010 (**See my story on the Fans Introduction page**). I have LOST MY MIND over him ever since. Like you, I have also recently lost loved ones. I lost my grandfather in Aug. 2008 to lukemia and his son, my father, to pancreatic cancer in Oct. 2009. The Big “C” has been running rampant in my family as well. So gushing over Rain has been really “theraputic” at times and has kept me from sinking too deeply into sadness. So I thank him for that, even though he doesn’t know it. My husband is used to me gushing over celebrities. When he met me, it was Michael Jackson (especially during his Thriller days, but I could go back further). Also, Boris Kodjoe (if you don’t know him, his “celebrity” is not huge, but should be as far as I am concerned). YEAH, I like ’em TALL and PRETTY, yet manly. My husband fits this category just as well, if I do say so myself (SMILES). So he can’t feel too bad!! This is a great blog….I love it and check it everyday as many of us do.
(**Side Note**): I am surrounded by writers (fictional). I have always wanted to try my hand at writing, but I have been a little fearful truth be told. Maybe if I hang out here long enough, I might be willing to take the plunge……(Smile)

Already put my request for Rain’s music in Itunes. I hope this works eventually. Cuckoo’s video has gotten 457 hits. Not bad but we have to keep going to make it visible. Please all Clouds hit at the video several times a day and maybe we can get thru to JTunes. We have to do something to wake up this company and get them to work hard just like Rain does. OOh this is nice! I have so many different things on my mind right now that I have to process them first.
I will say once again that I think this is the best Rain blog out there. You guys are funny, insightful and always try to be fair. You always make sure to get the whole story and not just part of the story. I think that’s awesome.
I, like Marisara, also feel like I’m with family here, in that I feel as if I can say what I think without being looked down on or what have you. I post a LOT (obviously) and you guys let me! That’s always lovely… lol. I also feel that if I have something to say that is not all lovey-dovey about Rain, I can post that here without being told off. I like that feeling.
About the Itunes thing, I think we should all request individually. If tons of people start to request his music, eventually they’ll have to accommodate us right? I mean, we’d be begging Itunes to let us spend money with them. How can they possibly resist that??

Well, i imagine all iTunes can do is put the pressure on the entertainment companies (JTune and JYP) to contract the music out to them. But yeah, it’s still worth a try. We should do as much as possible to make Rain’s fantastic music available to as many people as we can. i’m gonna head over to iTunes right now…

I like this forum more and more cause you are like a second family to me and that’s kind of strange cause I am a very private person. LOL But here I can be myself thanks to you and the staff. That said; I am soooo mad cause Rain works sooo hard, is so talented and he should be at the top of the music industry but cause his bad management it is more difficult for him to grow. I have beeing thinking about this situation and you see other “stars” like Lady GaGa or Justin Beaver and they are “stars” but that is cause they got an excellent management that looks for opportunities for them and get them great promotions. I am soo sick cause they get this artists everywhere to the point that you can’t stand them anymore. Then I put my cd of Rain and hear his beeeautiful voice, those melt my heart lyrics, that signature beat of him and I just want to cry. Rain is missing time and great opportunities cause the bad management he got. I reaally hope this can be resolve in a satisfactory way soo we can enjoy his work here in the US. In the meantime we got to keep asking for him in ITunes, keep buying his cd’s and keep supporting him cause you know? He is worth it. He is going to make it cause he sure as hell have work for it all his life.

This is one reason I’m so irritated about not being able to get Rain music on ITunes. If you browse for music on the ITunes Store, there is a section called K-Pop. And they have over 240 Korean pop artists listed–but NO RAIN! They have Jay Park, Epik High, even G.NA is there! What the heck?!

yes I noticed that when I was searching for MBlaq and Rain on Itunes. Most Kpop artist have at least their current album on Itunes. This makes it easier for English speaking fans to find Kpop.

They don’t have MBLAQ there either. They have my boys SS501 (god, I hope they don’t disband! 😦 ), but no Rain and no MBLAQ? That don’t seem right! That bothers me!

oh, this is nice…an open thread…so here’s what’s on my mind and i hope others will give feed back. i have been on a mission to capture as many of Rain’s arrivals at numerous airports. wanted to see fans in different countries and thier reactions to him. i’m still looking for the country he went to, where some fans were falling, shoving and out of control with excitment. but, what my question is, is how do you feel fans should act when welcoming or greeting him? do you think we should be expecting anything in the way of his response to us? what? why? i have never been a fan of any one and reading sometimes other fans impressions and expereinces leaves me a little confused. please share with me what you think.

I think fans should keep a respectful distance. It is ok to speak to him, give gifts or wave but shouting or pushing people is not ok. Fans need to understand that he works long hours and travels a lot so he will likely be very tired when he sees them.

Exactly. I know when I get off a plane I’m not in the best of moods. Rain travels all the time so you can imagine how he feels. If I went to the airport to try to catch a glimpse of him, I’d expect to just watch him from afar. Him waving and all that would be icing on the cake and I’d frankly be surprised if he did.

About six years ago, I had an assignment that required me to be in a different city every freaking week, for a full two months. That was EXHAUSTING.
I sure as heck wouldn’t have felt friendly enough to smile and wave at people while I was desperately trying to get through security and to my ground transportation once I arrived. And I was constantly running for planes too, so the last thing I would have wanted to worry about was talking to anyone while I was trying to catch my flight.
I mean seriously. Give the man a break.

as for rain to me i did know him after 2008 whiches i am newbi to him i feel a sad that i could known rain long time i been hear his all over but was not intersting and crazy and when on to love this effor ENTERTIANMENT person beyoung his SOUL of work. then it start to life me that i fall into his singer dancer actor afater i saw ALK ….
then i started to engage me more and more i found out he very sweet person hardworker for his country HE MODEL TO HIS WORKD HIS HAVE SUCH A BEAUY look totally nnatrual from inside out a very respect other and loyality of his family member and firendship he got then i learn rain have a very cloes up firend beak-ga and they are very confident of their own hometown ..

I must say I have visited several blogs about Rain, since I became a Fan Cloud. This one is BY FAR THE BEST in my book. I love the atmosphere here. I feel like I can be myself. I have tendency to write long posts (I have to apologize for that), but Rain and the comraderie I feel here makes it easy to want to express myself. I also do it outside of this blog too, so I “spread the love” to my peeps at home as well.
It has been a while since an entertainer has intrigued me to the level that Ji-Hoon has. His beauty, yes, you notice right away, but the journey he has taken to get to this point is quite impressive and is really what has made me stick around, coupled with the fact that this South Korean is SO SOULFUL. For an African-American woman born and raised in the South (USA) that’s saying A WHOLE LOT! That SHOCKS me more than anything!…(SMILES) I like to support those who I feel are really about the business of trying to be the BEST PEOPLE they can be. This goes beyond “celebrity.” I get that sense from Ji-Hoon. I hope to continue to support his journey in entertainment. He’s just a lovely HUMAN BEING.
Now enough of the love fest……..I promise to be really “tough” next comment.
Oh but I will say, Bi you may need to get a new management team or re-assign the one you have. They may have served you well, but you are trying to break into a new market and a your management team needs to have an understanding of how the U.S. market really works and especially for an Asian artist. If they had truly known how the U.S. market works in general, then they would know that U.S. audiences have a VERY SHORT attention span. That’s even when they like you! The U.S. market is no joke for ethnic artists in general and that goes for those born here as well. So really try to find your niche and go for it!
Oh and it would be nice to see a pic of Rain’s family or some baby pics (little boy) other than the boy band years. I think it would be nice to REALLY see his beginnings! (SMILES)

Although, yes, it would be nice..Rain has requested those pics not be released as it invades his privacy. Thats why its hard to find that stuff. I know Americans may not get why but as you know in Korea have diff ways of looking at things.

Yeah, I think that Americans tend to expect celeb lives to be open books. But if Rain does not want those pics released, that’s fine by me. I am all about who he is now anyway. Obviously his parents did what they were supposed to and he has grown into an excellent man. Everyone needs something that they can hold to their hearts, keep private, and only share with those closest to them. Do we not have enough pics of this guy already? *ok, ok, i like already know the answer to this question…lol* But you know what I’m saying. 🙂

I take issue with your statement toward Americans. I am an American true enough and I put out there that it WOULD BE NICE to see Rain as a little boy. I didn’t say I HAD TO SEE Rain as a little boy. I don’t Expect ANYBODY to be an open book for me personally. I wasn’t asking for Rain’s Autobiography, I just thought it would be nice to actually SEE him as a tot. Hey, as an American living in the U.S., I am not privy to all of Rain’s interviews where he may have stated these types of photos are an invasion to his privacy. They can STAY PRIVATE, “no skin off my nose.” I wasn’t trying to go through his personal belongings and pull out his underwear, as one older KOREAN reporter did to him on a televised interview show I saw on You Tube (invasion of privacy, ya think?).
If you think Americans want celebrities to be an open book, maybe some do, but I don’t think curiosity about celebrities is limited to just Americans. However, I can tell you as far as THIS AMERICAN is concerned, I have never been one to invade anyone’s privacy, celebrity or civilian alike. I don’t go where I’m not invited. Also, in my ever so humble opinion, there are some celebrities out there right now that have “open books” that need to be CLAMPED DOWN TIGHT!….(**CLINK, CLINK**) because they have shown their “Natural A__ses!”
To anyone who may be offended, my apologies, but too many times I hear Americans think this, Americans do that. This country is way too big and diverse, emphasis on DIVERSE, to put us into such a generalized statement as that…………PEACE!

??? I suppose I do not understand why you are taking my comment so personally. I do not recall directing it at you in particular. My, yes, very general, statement about Americans is exactly that, a statement about Americans in general, not the one and only BiAlamode. Yes, this is a diverse nation, but it is also quite homogenous in many respects. There is a mainstream culture, especially in regards to the media, that craves and digs for personal information about celebrities, and pretty much nothing is left private anymore. No, Americans are not the only ones who seek info about celebrities, but as an American, that is my frame of reference and experience, and I am quite comfortable making some general statements about my nation, whereas I would not venture to make such statements about another. This is just the way I see it. If you see things otherwise, fine. Having the ability and right to express differing opinions is part of the beauty of the US of A. Ooops, another general statement. Can I say that? Or is that general statement one of the OK ones?
I appreciate your right to have a different opinion, but please don’t take, or make, things personal. I apologize if my previous comment came across like I was attacking you personally, as that was not my intention.

Annoyed that I can’t seem to find J. Tune. I get in the vicinity (last time I tried) but I am not sure where it is. I know when I go to far though. I have a gift I want to make him and deliver since my Korean handwriting sucks and I want to make sure it gets there in one piece, undamaged, but I just can’t seem to get it quite right. Any help would be appreciated.
