Revisiting: MBLAQ’s hot debut.
In roughly two months, Rain’s Boys will hit their one-year anniversary mark, with two albums and numerous live and TV appearances under their belts. They’ve come a long way, and managed to look great doing it.
Let us reminisce… all the way back to October 15, 2009, around the time of Rain’s Legend of Rainism tour, to this Mnet performance by a brand new MBLAQ. Enjoy!

gotta agree with you about them setting a new standard LC. really those “awful outfits and hair styles” is WHAT aroused the Korean music scene excitment, (and mines too).
and cloudusa…after watching the boys perform “Y” (in all black) and even their “One Better Day” (in all white on those steps), i just see a vast improvement.
not to mention each one has already been featured in someone else’s vid. everybody wants a piece of mblaq, hahaha. these boys are getting tighter, tighter. i am not going to expect them to reach Rain cause his road was unique and only for him. but, i see great things happening for mblaq and yes, i too, sincerely hope they will stay together for a long time. yeah, they do have triple pressure on them, i hope they can handle it.

sorry godess, I completly disagree with you, they set the bar for the others coming out at the same time and they were copied a lot, and still are, case in point, Teen Top, looks like a younger Mblaq….they have done so well because they have worked so hard and they will continue to do so, I just hope they don’t break up like so many have done…aja aja Mblaq !! 😉

really nice watching this again….brings back memories. yep, the boys have improved, improved and improved some more. and to think not even out a year yet and working non-stop. mag. covers and spreads, tv/radio shows, autograph signings, preforming in front of 10,000+ Rain fans, even showing up in his next drama. these are dreams come true from most just starting out. newbies usually have to build up that kind of audiance which takes a few years to do. these boys although they are each talented are really blessed.

I can’t imagine the unspeakable pressure of debuting when everyone who’s watching you KNOWS that you’re a product of RAIN’S. Talk about sweating bullets. I think the stress alone would have done me in.
At the same time, there are those people who will actually treat you BETTER than other idols because of Rain’s name.
And then there is Rain himself. How in the world can anyone live up to or hope to develop his amazing, unmatchable work ethic? How could you ever hope to be good enough, or hope to please him after everything he’s already suffered and endured?
The Boys did indeed start off skimming a double-edged sword, and this first year did wonderfully! I agree that they are so talented and really blessed, and should be proud of themselves. But they still have LONG way to go. I often wonder if they’ll be able to develop the “muscle memory” that Rain has, where they actually feel the music instead of just remembering choreography. That right there would put them on a whole other level.
Well, we’ll see how they fare in the coming new year. Aja fighting, MBLAQ!
