MBLAQ’s “Y” music video.

As broadcast today on GomTV.  I like it.  It pushes MBLAQ further into a more mature arena, which is exactly what the group needs, in my humble opinion.  And the content is true to life—this kind of thing happens more than we like to acknowledge.  But I admit, I was shocked at first to see the gun and to realize the implications in an MBLAQ MV.  They went there, and it certainly got my attention, which means they’ve done their job.  But what the heck are the Korean censors and TV broadcasters going to do to it?

So… what do you all think?  — Stephe ^@@^

  1. I don’t think it really matters whether or not Joon kills the girl. What matters is he WANTS to kill her. I believe what the MV was trying to do was go to that place where, under the right (or incredibly wrong) circumstance, ANYTHING, even murder, can happen.

And betrayal of this kind–the kind where the person who takes your woman (or man) is someone YOU love yourself–well, let’s just say that is a perfect storm I hope none of you ever suffer.

    EVER.

  5. I don’t mean to sound ignorant but what’s a “y”?

    • You don’t sound ignorant at all. That “Y” is weird!

Near as we can tell, it’s like a play on words and may stand for “why.” Listen to my “why,” my reason, the reason I’m pissed, why it’s over. Give it/in to my “why,” accept my reasoning, accept why it is over. Talk to the hand. That’s about the best we can do. LOL If that’s not it…??? We’re stumped. 🙂

  6. Naw… I don’t think she’s dead. I think Joon’s character either dreamed the whole club scene up in the car and then couldn’t go through with it…

OR pointing the gun at the girl scared the crap out of her (that’s what she looked like, actually, lying there like that, scared stupid instead of dead), and Joon is reacting at the end to how closely he came to killing another human being.

    Could be.

  7. I love the beat and the song. I could “funk” to it all day long. The choreography is terrific. The Boys are looking good; G.O’s clean-shaven look is yum….

The thing of it is… is that they didn’t actually show Joon’s character pulling the trigger. They simply implied it by the girl falling over and her fingers twitching.

And Joon’s character was also doing a lot of daydreaming — at times the girl wasn’t even in the room with him, and he was seeing what he wanted to see. He could have gone to that club and done the deed. OR he could have been on his way to do the deed, and as he was driving, imagined himself killing the girl who betrayed him, but then he stopped and got out of the car and kicked himself because he chickened out and just couldn’t make himself go through with it.

Which would mean that whole club scene didn’t really happen.

Which may be why censors let it get this far — that’s the way J.Tune might have proposed the project to them.

It’s all in the perception, I guess.

  8. doesn’t the censor board have to approve these vid’s before they are released for public viewing? i think so. i’m not to surprised, remember the vid that was done with GO, when he was a member of that other group. that one had the girl with gun, theatening the guy. and i have seen other mv’s that include police shoot-outs etc. so i don’t know. just seems that sometimes what should be censored is not and what shouldn’t be censored is. but, is the girl really dead? i thought i saw her eyes open and her fingers move at the end. might be seeing things. go figure.

  9. I really loved this MV. The music funky and of course Lee Joon cnat be hotter than that!!.
Just like Rain said, the meaning of this song is up to averybodies thoughts, personally, I think that sometimes we have to make extreme decision in order to forget someone u used to love and now betray u.
Joon killing the girl has a real deep meaning. Amazing sound, juicy boys and beautiful voices… This MV got it all!!
    Enjoy!!
