Ninja Assassin Rewind–Comic-Con Style.

Look! It’s a post from Terri! (If Stephe hasn’t beaten me to it again, that is…)

Way back in November 2009, Los Angeles correspondent Steve Weintraub sat down with Rain and Director James McTeigue to talk about Ninja Assassin, its Berlin location, the filming, and more. Somehow I missed that interview, but when I stumbled across it tonight, I rushed to share it with you. It’s a great little interview with these two very talented men–and it’s in ENGLISH.

Weintraub also mentions in the interview that McTeigue first screened the film at the 2008 San Diego International Comic-Con. For those of you who don’t know, this makes a lot of sense, because Ninja Assassin was filmed in a highly-stylized, film noir fashion, which gives the film a sort of anime/comic book feel. That was one of the reasons I was so taken with the film in the first place (besides being a “kick-ass” ninja movie and starring Rain, of course.)

» Here’s is the link to the interview video on the Collider website.

» And here’s a link to a terrific, on-target review of Ninja Assassin, by Alex Billington, who was on hand for a first look at the movie at Comic-Con ’08.

And as an extra treat: here is the HanCinema/Rain/McTeigue interview that took place on the same set as with Steve Weintraub (and just about every other journalist in Los Angeles).  But we think this one is special because the interviewer spoke to McTeigue in English and to Rain in Korean, which meant she could ask more in-depth questions and both men could give much more intriguing answers.  Rain was very comfortable and expressed himself well instead of worrying about his English (subtitles included).

Hope you enjoy,

Terri :-}
