Bi Yourself topic #2.

Do you think the media revealing the amount of money that Rain or J. Tune makes for any given contract helps or hurts his image?

Personally, I don’t like it when the media slings all of those high figures around, especially when they don’t show how much he’s giving away in the same breath.  Which is why we have a page dedicated to his charitable contributions, so that we can try to keep up with those things ourselves.  And they certainly don’t mention his strict monthly allowance, or that dear ol’ Dad keeps an eagle-eye on every penny.  Or the effect those totally LAME lawsuits had on him.  Or how much his sister’s education cost when she was in school.  Et cetera.

I think that what Rain is paid, taken out of context, can be very misleading.  And whose business is it, anyway?  Even if I was making a killer salary, I wouldn’t want it in the local paper!

So what do YOU think?

  1. @Terri, are u talking about the plane with his photo? if so, that particular plane was used for his 2006-07 tour. outfitted with his image by Korean Air because they were one of the concert promoters. the article was lifted from a Japanese fan blog, but it was twisted and omitted the actual wording. the blog shows the plane, Rain standing in front with 2 stwardess, says it was used in 2007 for his tour and explains from Korean Air spokesman why they decided to use the plane. this is OLD news, like 2-3 yrs old. it leaves me speachless, sometimes when fans don’t pay attention or easily forget. there was a press conference with Rain and Korean Air when all of this happened. but, i totally agree with you about him having his own plane. imagine all the money being spent for his entourage, (backup singers (4); dancers (6); band (4-6); stage set up staff and hauling stage equipment. astronimal costs associated with these tours. no one seems to ever give thought to this. they say for his Taiwan concert the contract amount was $300,000. i wonder how much of it truly goes into his bank account. but as far as always announcing what he makes, i don’t hear of any other Korea celeb. under going that kind of revelation about their income or what their contract pays. and they certainly don’t do it here in the US. fame does expose you, but i just think there should be a limit to people’s nosiness. the stars ability is what draws attention, next thing u know people want to know, who they sleep with, what kind of underwear they wear, amount they make, who are they dating, or going to marry. i’m on the opposite side of this fence, i don’t think it’s anybody’s business and i don’t believe it’s thier right to know. AFTER A WHILE U START FORGETTING ABOUT THE TALENT of the star and because you know so much about their life, your perceptions begins to change about them. just look at what the did to Briney. look what they did to Michael (MHRIP) and so many others. Beyonce’ and Jay Z, are smart to keep the public out of their private lives. (sorry for being so long winded)

  2. I don’t like it either, but unfortunately, that’s what happens when you are a star. You open yourself up not only to the praise, but also to the criticism. Painful? Absolutely. But there it is. A fact of celebrity life.

    What we CAN do, though, as Rain’s fans, is defend him as best we can. For example, I keep seeing in the news lately stories about how shocked many people are that he has purchased his own jet. I can’t for the life of me understand why. I mean can you really see him, with his extremely crazy schedule, trying to take commercial flights around the globe and getting anywhere ON TIME? :/

    Many MANY stars and corporations own their own jets. So, I really don’t understand why everyone keeps talking like Rain’s jet is some kind of big deal?

    Well, I say it isn’t a big deal. Not at all. So, they need to just get a grip and leave Rain alone.

    Besides. It’s pretty. ;-}

  3. my feelings exactly…i just can’t grasp the purpose of always broadcasting this type of info. with all of the vultures out there and with him already having had to address the greed of others, it greatly bothers me that JTune is not more discret about this. hopefully, in the future they will just announce the completion of him signing a new contract and it’s start date, we don’t want to about payment because it never reflect his true worth (as far as i am concerned)
