Cloud Projects ~ page 1

Every now and then, our world and Rain’s may overlap.  Or there may be times when Clouds can do things either individually or together that will affect an important issue, or bring laughter into our lives.

Or you all may want to suggest ideas yourselves, for that purpose.

This is the place to be—our project page.

Cloud USA

» AUGUST 19: [update] Overseas Clouds: The R2B August 14 VIP Premiere Ticket Donation project is fulfilled.

» AUGUST 7: The Overseas Clouds’ R2B August 14 VIP Premiere Ticket Donation Project deadline has passed. The donation moneys have been collected, and HERE is an update from the official Korean Cloud overseas fan coordinator as to where we stand right now.

» JULY 31: An update showing the charities who will benefit from the Overseas Clouds’ R2B ticket donation project are HERE.

Calling all overseas Clouds: The R2B August 14 VIP Premiere Ticket Donation project is on!

JULY 21:

{*Edited to Add: As soon as the youth organizations, schools, and/or charities in Korea have responded and are set and we get word from the overseas fan coordinator, we’ll be sure to post a list of the ones that will benefit from the ticket donations. And of course, there will be follow-up on that day with pictures and hopefully media coverage, the same as it has been with the charitable acts we’ve been involved with thus far. Thanks, all. 🙂 ^@@^}

Oh yes, indeed, we’re backing this big time.

Dear World Clouds and global Rain fans, it’s so important to support JiHoon and the R2B: Return to Base premiere. If the ROK military itself wasn’t directly involved in backing and participating in the film, we would understand Rain not being scheduled to do even a small promo appearance by them. As it is, we see such a situation as plain silly. (They even used the Black Eagles, for pete’s sake. O__o) But he’s a good soldier, and is acting accordingly.

Clouds in Asia are already gearing up for the R2B pre-premiere day on August 14. For those of us who can’t physically be there, the R2B August 14 VIP Premiere Ticket Donation Project below is the perfect way to help Rain AND help less fortunate youths and students get to watch the movie in Seoul. Isn’t that what global clouds do best, come together for charity in Rain’s name?

See the information below, and please participate and spread the word. I’d love to see JiHoon’s face when he reads the full list of donors later! 😀 — Stephe ^@@^

Just a clarification on PayPal for you.

When you are sending in your donation, you will see the following two options:

What are you sending money for?

* I’m paying for goods or services
* I’m sending money to family or friends

Please choose the SECOND option (sending money to family or friends), which is the “personal” option.

Also, please understand if you choose not to pay the PayPal service fee, then the fee will be taken out of your donation, which means your donation will be a little less.

Thank you for participating.

[info] R2B 14 August VIP Premiere Ticket Donation

Posted by: huhuhuhu @The Cloud English Talk Board

R2B Return to Base  will hold a VIP premiere in Seoul on 14 August.  The official Cloud will organize a global viewing of the movie for world Rain fans on that day.  Please refer to the following notice for details:

We hope supporters of Rain from all over the world could gather together on 14 August to cheer for Rain.  We believe that’s what he hopes his world clouds will do.  However we also understand that due to various circumstances, many overseas fans will not be able to join this premiere in person.

For those overseas fans who are not able to be in Seoul, perhaps you could still participate by donating movie tickets, so that we could invite some less fortunate youngsters or students to watch the movie on your behalf.  This is a meaningful event to show Rain the love and support of his world wide fans.

Ticket donation could be individual, group, or fan club based. We will sort out the donors by countries, and will prepare a full list and will pass this to Rainy Entertainment to be delivered to Rain. Veteran Korean clouds will help contact youth organizations or schools.

Raincloudhk Hong Kong,  BiwithRain Taiwan and RainVietnam FC Vietnam will help collect donations from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Vietnam fans.  Donors in these countries can donate in local currencies.  For the rest of overseas fans donations can be made in US$ via paypal.  Paypal account: heidi.shanghai@hotmail.comPlease specify your name, group or fan club and your country, and please choose “personal” payment.  A 3rd individual party will verify the amount donated.

Please note that this ticket donation drive is not an official Cloud initiative.  Participation is voluntary.  We are not sure if the official Cloud will organize a ticket donation, but as overseas fans we decided to go ahead first as time is drawing near.

We hope as many overseas fans can attend the premiere in Seoul on 14 August as possible.  For those who can’t be there, perhaps you could show your support with this ticket donation.

Hope we could show our global cloud power once again with this event.  Deadline for donation: 3 August, 2012. For questions please send email to

Thank you.

MTV USA’s 10 On Top asks: What young Pop-celeb are you most thankful for this season?

[*ETA 11/30: Just a tip, everyone… it’s perfectly acceptable for you all of start other Rain threads of your own over there at the 10 On Top discussion boards.  In fact, we encourage it.  The more Rain talk, the merrier! ^@@^]

What a great idea for a new show, MTV.  Talk about buzz.

Sooooo… 😀  (Y’all know what I’m about to say, right?)

If incredible 28-year-old powerhouse Rain is the pop culture power player that YOU are most thankful for, regardless of where you live, then get on this and let MTV USA know exactly that.  Create more buzz for Rain in the States!  Don’t wait for everyone else to do it.  Only by putting our “money” where our mouths are, and in NUMBERS, will his talent garner the attention it deserves.

Let’s pick up where the 2010 MTV Movie Awards buzz and the MTV World Cup of Rock buzz left off.  Aja!

» MTV’s 10 On Top @Facebook is HERE.

» MTV’s 10 On Top @Twitter is HERE.

» MTV’s 10 On Top Message Boards are HERE. (Click on “10 On Top: Celebrity Talk”.)  Someone has mentioned Big Bang’s Taeyang on it!  Wow.  And Terri has started a thread on JiHoon, to get the ball rolling there.

To all of you… thanks for supporting him.

— Stephe, 10 On Top show summary —

More than ever, young celebrities are pop culture power players, doing more moving and shaking in a single week than previous stars did in a lifetime. Each week MTV will present MTV’s ’10 on Top’, a half-hour countdown of the Top 10 most texted and talked about young celebs at the moment. Their ranking will be influenced by the audience – based on the chatter they elicit, and the headlines they create each week, as well as the amount of buzz about their upcoming projects and events (appearances, premieres, tours, etc.).

Host Lenay Dunn will guide viewers through the countdown, introducing hot, new talent, and delivering up exclusive behind-the-scenes footage. It’s an entertaining summary of a week in the lives of young superstar entertainers–what deals they landed, whose hearts they broke, whose star is shining brightest right now, and whose will rise next.

10 on Top will be the weekly destination for our saavy, pop-loving, Tweet-happy audience.

[Cloud USA Project] We want Rain & MBLAQ on iTunes!

Hello, Lovely Clouds,

Clouds are always asking us for sources from which they might be able to buy Rain “stuff.” With the help of other Cloud USA members, we can usually find it for them.  But the one thing we have not be able to find is a place from which to download .mp3 files of Rain’s or MBLAQ’s music legally.  We can’t even purchase their music from iTunes, which is really weird, considering iTunes has an entire K-Pop page that lists over 240 K-Pop artists.  But nope.  No Rain or MBLAQ.  Wow.

If you’re like us and you’d like to see iTunes stock Rain and MBLAQ songs, like they do so many other K-Pop artists, then please go to the iTunes Store feedback page and submit a request that Rain and MBLAQ songs/albums be made available for purchase on iTunes.

Maybe if everyone out there who would like to support Rain and MBLAQ by actually buying their songs would request their music, then maybe someday we just might see their names listed on that K-Pop page.  And wouldn’t that be nice?

Thank you for your help.

Terri :-}

Let MTV-USA know that Rain isn’t just a passing fad.  Give his pages on plenty of love and attention!

Recently (after Rain was » Spotted! for a second time by MTV) we got to wondering… just where all is he on  How many items will show up in a general search for him there?

Of course we went looking.  And this is what we’ve initially found.

Do take note of some of these pages, bookmark them, and frequent them so that MTV understands that Rain isn’t just a passing fad.  Only by giving places like his Latest News/Ninja Assassin page constant traffic will they know that his fan base is in constant growth and that he is here in our hearts to stay.

Please bear in mind, however, that they don’t need to be browbeaten.  As Ji-Hoon’s fans, we reflect on him, so let’s not put him in a bad light with snotty behavior, regardless of whether or not MTV does what we need in a timely fashion.  Trollish behavior only gets you one thing: ignored.

They’ve already realized that if they bring him, Clouds will come.  And that Rain fans are hungry for other K-Pop artists as well.  But things of that magnitude do not happen overnight.  We must diligently drop our pebbles in that big pond, watch the ripples flow outward, and show the same patience that, time and time again, we’ve watched Rain himself exhibit.

Great patience is rewarded greatly.

Real Clouds #Rain (Or what the heck does Justin Bieber have to do with Rain, other than the same hairdo?)

Okay, Clouds.

Have we got a project for you.

But this one’s a little different, more like distance running than the sprinting of our usual projects.  What we mean is rather than jumping on the bandwagon for a specific period of time, this project is going to take an ongoing, long-term commitment to Rain and all that he stands for.

What is it?  It’s called Twitter Trending, and it’s all about making Rain a household name to the entire world.

During the MTV Movie Awards, do you remember how highlighted something they called their MTV Movie Awards Tweet Tracker?  Sure, you do.  At one point, we Clouds all over the world were “tweet trending” Rain so much that he actually moved into the #1 spot on the tracker, above all of the other award nominees.  That tracker was not only good publicity for Rain, but it also allowed his fans the instant gratification of being able to see his name climb that list and to see his picture flash across the television screen during the show’s broadcast.  It was absolutely awesome!

It was so much fun tweeting and trying to keep Rain on top of that list for as long as we could, that it made a big impression on us.  It made an impression maybe because we tweet everyday for Cloud USA, which means that we’re constantly thinking about Twitter and how it works, right?

Well, we’ve been really thinking now.  Yeah, yeah.  That’s scary, we know, but still.  We’ve been thinking:  what if we trended Rain ALL the time, to see if we could get him to start appearing on Twitter’s Trending Topics lists.

Which brings us to Justin Bieber and what he has to do with Rain–besides having the same hairdo (and you thought we were kidding, LOL).

For months, tween sensation Justin Bieber enjoyed a permanent spot on Twitter’s Trending Topics lists.  In fact, he appeared there so much that it forced Twitter to change their algorithm.  Sensing an impending attack from Bieber fans, Twitter immediately assured everyone that the company wasn’t discriminating against any specific topics and that the algorithm did not ‘block’ any topics from being trended.  A company spokesperson explained, “If topics you saw regularly in your Trending Topics menu have disappeared or are not showing as consistently as before, do a saved search for them on your homepage. That way, in one click, you can view search results for topics that matter most to you. Also consider localizing your Trending Topics menu.”

Interestingly, that didn’t stop Bieber fans, who immediately began trend tweeting with words like “Twieber” and “Jieber.”   Because Twitter’s algorithm was programmed to find hot “new” phrases, it didn’t recognize that “Tweiber” and “Jieber” were variations on Justin Bieber’s name, and the words quickly hit the trending topics lists.  All I can say is smooth move, Bieber fans!  That’s a lesson I, as a Cloud, have filed away for future reference and will definitely use myself.

So.  Lovely, Clouds.  Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is this:

  1. Whenever you tweet about Rain, please add #Rainto the end of your tweet (just like many of us were doing during the MTV Awards show with #Rain and #RainMTVAward).  That way, whenever there is a spike in “Rain chatter” on Twitter, we might just find Rain rising up to the top of one of the Twitter Trending Topics lists.  If he does make it to the top ten, then the trending pattern we are using at the time (I.e., #Rain, #RainMTVAward, #Rainwhatever) would then appear on peoples’ Twitter homepages across the world, on their “Trending Topics” list.  Terrific publicity for Rain, right?
  2. If you do catch him at the top of one of the lists, please capture a screen shot of it for Cloud USA and send it to us, so we can write up a post about it.  (This is just in case Cloud USA misses it for some strange reason.  We missed getting a shot of Rain on top of the MTV Movie Awards Tweet Tracker list and that has bugged us ever since.)

Whenever we have special news topics to tweet about, like the MTV Movie Awards, for example, Cloud USA will automatically change up our tweet trending pattern just a bit, so that to Twitter’s algorithm it will automatically look like “new” Rain chatter.  We will announce the new trending pattern simply by tweeting with it.  At that point, all you’ll have to do is tweet and retweet using our new pattern.

Then, at some point, we will go back to tweeting with #Rain, so that maybe, at some point, #Rain will again look like hot, new chatter to Twitter’s algorithm.

Let me caution you, this project is for real fans of Rain, because even if we do this Rain may NEVER appear on any of those lists.  So, I don’t want anyone to be disappointed if he doesn’t.  Then again, he just might pop up.  You never know.  It all depends on how many people in the world are actually “talking” about Rain at that particular moment.  So, I think he has a good chance now and again.  Don’t you?  Besides, doing it can’t hurt anything anyway.

So.  As of today, Cloud USA will be doing its part by adding #Rain to all of our tweets.  We really hope you will join us, but more importantly, we really do hope you will have FUN.

Wishing you many Rainy days,

Terri :-} and Stephe ^@@^

Help Missing & Exploited Children

Hello, Lovely Clouds,

Rain’s participation in the Green Ribbon Hope Event got me and Stephe to thinking about how we might make a difference in the lives of families of missing and exploited children in our own country.  We urge you to reach out to those organizations in your own locales that  support causes like this, and help them in whatever way you can.

For those of us in the United States, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is a good place to start.  The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s® (NCMEC) mission is to help prevent child abduction and sexual exploitation; help find missing children; and assist victims of child abduction and sexual exploitation, their families, and the professionals who serve them.

Your financial support allows the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to assist more families more effectively and protect more children from harm. You can donate online, over the telephone by calling their toll-free line at 1-866-411-KIDS (5437), or by mailing a check to:

National Center for Missing & Exploited Children

The 2010 TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People: Cast Your Votes Clouds!

[ *ETA 4/23/10: The Time 100 online poll is now closed, but you still have time to participate in the Time 100 Letter Campaign.  Please go to Page 2 for details! ]

[ *Edited to Add 4/16/10: Rain has been all over this Poll for the past weeks, from #3 to #4 to #5 and even 6. Voting for the number one spot has officially closed, but the list itself is still open for additional voting and will be until Thursday the 22nd.  Let’s get Rain as high as we can, folks, not because of his name but because of the way he has influenced a vast swatch of this world.  Keep voting… thanks!]

April 1, 2010

Calling all Clouds!

It’s time to cast your votes for the leaders, artists, innovators and icons you think merit spots on the 2010 Time’s Magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

FYI, on the candidates list:

  • Rain appears at #48.
  • Kim Yu-na appears at #2.
  • Stephen Colbert appears at #35.

To vote, click on the person’s candidate listing, and their page will open.  Then, above their picture, you will see a slider widget.  The closer you move the slider to 100%, the more influential that person is considered to be.

When I voted, Rain was at 50%.  Of course, those stats keep changing as everyone keeps voting.  Last time I looked, Rain only had 24 votes, including mine.  So, all you Clouds need to get in there and VOTE.  You can vote more than once.

We’re counting on you!  Vote early and vote often!

Terri :-}

P.S.  Please note:  While I was casting my votes for some other people, the site started having some technical difficulties.  Hopefully those will be cleared up soon.  If you experience this, just check back later.  It may be that they are getting so much traffic that the site can’t handle it.

[Cloud USA Project]: We Want Rain to Perform at the 2010 MTV Music Awards

April 1, 2010

Calling all Clouds!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to contact MTV and request that they invite RAIN to PERFORM at the 2010 MTV Music Awards, on June 6, 2010, in Los Angeles, California.

This is perfect timing, since the special mini-album Rain is about to release includes an English version of Love Song.  We would absolutely love to see him perform Love Song on our television screens here in the USA.

So how should we contact them? In every single way imaginable:

Reply @ MTV’s TWITTER.

As soon as they announce the event, comment on MTV’s  facebook. (I didn’t see an announcement yet, but there should be one coming soon.)

Go to their MySpace Blog and comment on the event’s thread.

Or simply write them a good old-fashioned letter at:

MTV, 1633 Broadway, 31st Floor, New York, NY 10019 USA

Their website,, says there is a You Tell Us feedback section somewhere, a place from which you can send them feedback.  Unfortunately, I could never get any of the You Tell Us pages to load, so I can’t share any reliable information about that.  If anyone out there knows how to send a direct e-mail via their website, please let us know.

Clouds, an appearance on the MTV Movie Awards would mean incredible, instant exposure for Rain, as this awards show is spectacularly popular here in the US and millions of viewers will be tuning in to watch.

Of course, we don’t even know if he is available to perform during that time.  His schedule is terribly busy.  But don’t you think it would be nice if he, at the least, received an invitation?

We do.

Wishing you many Rainy days,

Terri :-}

8 years ago this month, Ji-Hoon debuted as Bi & our lives changed.

April 1, 2010

In April 2002, our Magic Feet launched himself into the air, flew off on the journey of a lifetime (with his first album “n001″ and very first hit BAD GUY), and has never landed.  Oh, there was turbulence (Team S. Korea was prominent in the World Cup a month later and took Korea’s complete attention away from his new single), but instead of starting a whole new album, Bi came back strong with a second track from n001, “Instead of Saying Goodbye.”  Victory!  The public belonged to HIM.  That album should have been called SMART GUY.

(I always get dancing-happy and then teary-eyed watching this video that we absolutely treasure: “Instead of Saying Goodbye” goes #1, and a humble mega-icon is born.  Mentioning his father and late mother brings Bi to tears. Courtesy of dukedik2.)

As we understand it, with his second album, the English translation of Bi came into play: RAIN.  And the rest, as they say, is history.  So during this fine April, Clouds, remember our motto:

Behind every Cloud is a silver lining.  His name is Rain.

Support Rain this month with a Happy Anniversary card or a silver lining letter (you choose your own stationery at your favorite store—have fun with it!).  Let him know that though he is lonely at times, he is never truly alone because we are all with him.  As our Asian, European, and Latin sisters have taught us—without Clouds, there can be no Rain. — Stephe ^@@^

MTV wants YOU–to pick the nominees…

March 29, 2010

Calling all Clouds!

[Edited to Add]  Clarification Update:

Hello lovely Clouds.  There seems to be some confusion out there with regard to the 2010 MTV Movie Awards and what we are voting for.  Right now, we are only being asked to vote for the nominees, which haven’t been chosen yet.  The nominee voting will end on April 9th, and then on May 11th, we can start voting for our favorites to WIN.  Right now, Rain is listed in only ONE category:  Best Ass Kicking Star.  But you can still recommend him for other categories by writing in your own vote for him (or your other favorites).  You can also vote more than once!

Hopefully, this will clear up some of the confusion going around on the Internet about this event.  Don’t forget to cast your votes early.  April 9th isn’t that far away!

Terri :-}

Hello lovely Clouds!

Now’s your chance to choose your very own favorite movie/artist nominees for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards!

The categories are:

  • Best Kiss
  • Best Fight
  • Best Villain
  • Best WTF Moment
  • Best Ass Kicking Star
  • Best Scared-As S*it Performance
  • Best Female Breakout Star
  • Best Male Breakout Star
  • best Female Performance
  • Best Male Performance
  • Best Comedic Performance
  • Global Superstar
  • Best Movie

Sign up at and then have a terrific time voting for your favorite stars and movies.  I know I did!

FYI, Rain is already suggested as the nominee for one award:  The Best Ass Kicking Star.  I’m sure we Ninja Assassin fans can all agree on that one, hands down.

However, here’s a juicy tip for you.  If you SCROLL DOWN to the bottom of each nominee screen, you’ll find this little device…

…where you can choose your OWN favorite movie/star nominees and ADD them to the list.

This is where I added some of my own yummy favorite picks:

  • For Best Fight:  Ninja Assassin; Rain and Stephen Marcus (Kingpin)
  • For Best Kiss:  Ninja Assassin; Joon Lee and Anna Sawai

AND you can vote more than once too!

The nominee voting ends on April 9.  After the nominees are announced, voting for a winner in each category will start May 11 and run through June 5. But voting for Best Movie will stay open throughout the awards show itself — meaning you’ll have a chance to affect the night’s biggest prize until the very last minute.

Get your votes in early, Clouds.  And then make sure you watch the MTV Movie Awards on June 6, at 9 p.m. EST, to see if any of your favorite stars are winners.

Wishing you many Rainy days,

Terri :-}
