[Cloud USA videos][13 images][history] ROUND 2: Happy 20th Debut Anniversary, Rain! 2002 to 2022.🌧️

β€” Compiled and written by Stephe, Managing Editor ^@@^

Our previous video on 4/24 represented Rain’s albums and celebrated his debut anniversary as a solo singer 20 years ago on that day. This video represents his movies, TV dramas and projects as a lead actor, and celebrates his debut anniversary competing on his first TV chart show four days later (4/28). He celebrates both days as well. Jung JiHoon, award winner and man of 1000 faces! So proud of him!

Look at his resumes. Is it any wonder that Rain is one of only a handful of people who Koreans consider an actor and a singer equally (not a singer who acts, not an actor who sings)? πŸ™‚

Acting: Sangdoo! Let’s Go To School (2003), Full House (2004), A Love To Kill (2005), I’m A Cyborg But That’s OK (2006), Speed Racer (2008, ensemble cast), Ninja Assassin (2009), The Fugitive: Plan B (2010), R2B: Return to Base (2012), The Prince (2014, ensemble cast), My Lovely Girl (2014), For Love or Money (2014), Diamond Lover (2015), Please Come Back, Mister (2016), Sketch (2018), Race to Freedom: Uhm Bok Dong (2018), Welcome 2 Life (2019), The Hungry and the Hairy (2021, Netflix), Ghost Doctor (2022). ^@@^

Television ensemble casts, supporting roles, and guest-starring:

Starting his jam-packed acting history off, Rain played an adorable lifeguard at a theme park on the SBS rom-com/sitcom Orange (2002). He also played himself on the Valentine’s Day episode of KBS rom-com/sitcom Old Miss Diary (2005). Last but not least, he starred in three Banjun Dramas (2004, Reverse Theater, an SBS mini-drama series) as a police detective (“Something to Tell You”), a thief (“For Her Sake”), and on a third episode called “Romance Solver.” There was also his hilarious 2002 KIng of Disco short drama parody, and I could swear Rain was in another short drama that year where the lead actress was always running somewhere and he would “appear.” LOL ^@@^ (Courtesy of Rainrunway629)

You might notice that I included Speed Racer and The Prince in the lead roles video above. That’s because those were major first tier supportive roles in Hollywood films and nothing to sneeze at! ^@@^ (Orange, Old Miss Diary, and Banjun Dramas screen caps by Cloud USA.)

Albums: N001 (2002), Rain 2: How to Avoid the Sun (2003), It’s Raining (2004), Eternal Rain (2006), Rain’s World (2006), Rainism (2008), Rain Effect (2014), MY LIFEζ„› (2017), Pieces by Rain (2021). ^@@^

GROUPS:

Rain started his jam-packed music history off as one of the six members of Korean boy group FanClub in 1998, at the tender age of 16.

That would not be his only stint as maknae (youngest) of a group, though! In 2020, he and legends Lee Hyori and Yoo Jae Suk formed retro three-member super group SSAK3 [Ssagsseuli] and released a fun album whose title track “Beach Again” was an all-kill winner on the Korean charts. And yes, he was the maknae of the group at 38! πŸ™‚ ^@@^

  1. Thank you for the recap I seem to have missed a few of his past achievements in my ongoing fangirl journey of My Baby Boy.
