There has been an influx of new Clouds and new Rain fans, and Rain has mentioned working on new music. Don’t know if he is or not, but now is a great time to go all the way back and get folks up to speed on his albums, from 1998 to 2017!
My fourth installment of this series celebrates the time when 22-year-old Rain dropped his third album in October 2004, Vol. 3 It’s Raining, and became known as the real deal and not a manufactured idol. You see, even though his first two albums made him very popular, some people and the media still saw him as only Park JinYoung’s protégé, yet another product of JYPE. It’s Raining put a stop to that real quick and Rain was seen as a bona fide star, a unique talent in his own right. His road to ending up an icon well and truly took off.

Also that year, TV drama Full House (with Song HyeKyo) premiered in 11 Asian countries plus Australia and India, and made him a household name and the originator of the Korean Wave that rolled over Asia. The drama was so popular, its ratings were as high at 52% and it spawned a massive fan base. Everyone would stop what they were doing wherever they were and watch this show!
In Korea, there are singers who act, and actors who sing. Rain is one of a rare few who is considered an actor and a singer equally by the Korean people. AND he had his very first live concert (RAINY DAY) three months after album It’s Raining dropped.
The song “It’s Raining” is still celebrated by the industry, journalists, and music aficionados today. I expect it always will be. 🙂 — Stephe ^@@^

REMINDER: Rain’s new MBC TV drama, Welcome 2 Life [웰컴2라이프] has finished and was the No. 1 show in its time slot for the duration of its run on Korean TV. The media can’t praise his skills enough! One of my FAVORITE things ever! ❤ In 2008, when his Rainism album was brand new, Rain performed popular wedding song “I Do” on Kim Jung Eun’s Chocolate show and made a newly married couple kiss every time he said “I do.” The groom could’ve done it all day, but the bride was finally like, OMG, go away! Fan cams. Rain at the Shigeake Star Skiing Camp in January 2005. A terrific performance of “It’s Raining” and “I Do”, even though he about froze his ass off and nearly got blown up by killer pyros (WTH??!). His poor face got singed and he was disoriented, my god! I was soooo mad! What were those concert techs thinking, using that much material? His dancers were watching him like, holy sh!t! Is he okay? Soooooo, as you can see, I’m catching up on some older posts on the blog… But let me tell you what happened to me today –
I clicked on this CLICK BAIT
Now, I’m not telling anyone else to click on this because when I did, I DID NOT SEE RAIN other than a very brief moment where he was laughing on a variety show at another band (it might’ve been BTS but I’m not sure because the images are from a distance and moving fast).
But it pisses me off ’cause I watched halfway through the video and then used the 10 second fast forward button all the way to the end and didn’t see Rain (expect the aforementioned variety show less than a second). So, I watched the entire thing again without skipping and STILL didn’t see him. fuming 😠
IF they did have a clip of Rain performing, I would’ve taken my virtual media life in my hands (because of Armies and other fans) to comment on how the boys in the video all look exactly liked that – BOYS. And they look like they playin’. Unlike what Rain brought to the stage at their age.
I know it’s not good to compare. I am starting to learn a bit more about BTS (not actively looking for info the way I did when I first saw Rain 😊 but because they’re everywhere) but I am starting to see what’s so appealing about BTS. But I’m telling you – they playin’. I’m tellin’ you, they and all the other bands in this video THEY PLAYIN’.

Oh. I thought when I put the link here that everyone could see the sexy thumbnail to see why I’m claiming CLICKBAIT! It’s just such a shame that they had to use Rainoppa to get people to click on their video and then NOT include the performance from the thumbnail or any of his other performances for that matter. There is a faux Rain – some thin dude dancing on a pole sans shirt and with Rain’s trademark headscarf with the rhinestones on. I hope I’m not offending that guy’s fans if he is someone famous. But if the video maker HAD included Rain, then I wouldn’t need to point out that this guy, while doing a similar *cough* performance is NOT Rain.

BTS is indeed very special. We’ve been fans for several years.
(But ain’t nobody knocking Rain off the top of my tree. They’re welcome to try, though, haha. ^_^)
