Oh, I almost forgot. If you have Netflix, do watch “My Country: The New Age.” It is beautifully acted and so well done. It’s takes place during a real time in Korean history, even though the actual story is fiction. This is a story about the shifting tide of a country and its people told via relationships. However, the love (or lack in some instances) of king to prince, father to son, friend to friend and that connection one to the other, told throughout this drama is epic. How the writer made the emotion ebb and flow in this drama, keeps the viewer wanting (emotionally speaking) and hoping. As a viewer, you will be engaged from the first episode to the last. Please do put this one on your list.
Also, I can’t forget “Watchmen” starring Regina King. Now, THIS is not a show for people who can’t stomach Truth. For those who like the dark graphic novel feel of the original Watchmen, it’s still told in that vein. However, the story in the series begins during the Tulsa riots of 1921 (the massacre of Black Wall Street). This is also a very real time in American history….an ugly, evil time…especially for POC, African-Americans specifically. To say that Regina King is a bad ass, crime fighting superhero is putting it mildly. I will say the show quite culturally diverse. Blacks, Whites and Asians all have significant roles in this series, even though the main story line is told from Regina’s family perspective from the time of the Tulsa massacre. Yes, much of it also “feels like” what we are experiencing in our country (the US) right now…..politically speaking. This show pulls NO punches. You will feel some kind of way watching it, but…all that said, it’s hella entertaining.
Also during the Thanksgiving holiday week, we got a free holiday weekend to view Cinemax channels (cable providers do that from time to time). Hubby and I got to watch this awesome series called “Warrior.” It’s set in the US during the time Chinese immigrants came to work on the railroad. It’s lots of action and drama that takes the viewer into the underbelly of Chinatown and the drug warlords. This show takes the viewer into Chinese culture and also how harsh it was for those immigrants who came here just to make enough money to take care of their families back in China, but got stuck in forced labor to the railroad companies or steel mills. This is another awesome show. I’m sure there are others I’m watching and failed to mention when I catch up on my list. I’ll come back for another update.

OMG, I loved Welcome 2 Life. Rain elevated his acting chops yet again in this show, and the plot was doggone enjoyable. It goes without saying, the camera loved his face and it was hard as hell to watch him and the subtitles at the same time, LOL (which is why I ended up watching it twice). I can see why he took that role, and I’m so glad he did. It was #1 in its time slot the whole time it aired, which also says a lot.
What else am I watching. Too many shows, for sure. 🙂
American TV: Mr. Inbetween, American Horror Story 1984, Supernatural, The Walking Dead, 9-1-1, and Emergence. Will be starting the newest Purge soon.
British TV: Waiting for the new season of Doctor Who.
Telenovelas (Mexico TV): My favorite Latin hunk Sebastian Rulli is starring in TV series El Dragon right now, about a young Mexican raised in Japan after his parents were killed by a cartel, who comes back to Mexico with financial and samurai skills and attempts to show cartels how to run legitimate businesses. It’s soooooo good!
K-dramas: Hotel de Luna, and Hwarang.
Anime: Fire Force, Dr. Stone, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures: Golden Wind, Naruto, Primal, One Punch Man, My Hero Academia, Fruits Basket, Black Clover, Demon Slayer.

Loved Welcome 2 Life. What can we say, Rain was awesome as always. The cutest and funkiest thing…..when lil mama farted in his face. LOL. So silly and such a father/daughter moment. He’ll have plenty of those in his real life.
What I’m watching now? Well, I’ve recently discovered fellow actor Ji Chang Wook. I’ve been watching his dramas Healer, The K2 and Melting Me Softly. I have Netflix, so I’m also watching a Joseon era drama My Country (it’s so good). This one really makes you ask questions of yourself the “what would I do if faced with this?” kind of questions. I am also watching Vagabond (spy/espionage) drama starring another fave Lee Seung Gi.
As far as American TV goes, hubby and I are watching Evil starring Mike Colter. Whether you are a believer, non-believer, a sorta-kinda believer….but non-practicing believer, this show challenges the viewer in all of those aspects. It’s deep, psychologically speaking. I’m also watching Jack Ryan and Carnival Row on Amazon streaming. So many shows, so little time.

Welcome 2 Life: Yes, little Bona’s farts were epic, LOL! I belly-laughed whenever “Jaesang” thought he was going to be “getting some” and ended up doing karate or yoga instead, LMAO. And whenever he had his women’s group over for a meeting.
K2 is a good one. As is anything Lee Seung Gi. 🙂
