  1. Damn, damn, damn they killed off Veil. I’m so upset! You know several of my shows have recently been cancelled……..Marco Polo, Sense8, Underground to name few. It’s certainly not because these shows weren’t well written and visually beautiful. I also don’t think it’s a coincidence that these shows are strong in showcasing POC and in strong powerful roles. Just thinking out loud.

  2. It’s been a minute since I’ve visited this post. That being said, oh my goodness Stephe let’s get to it. Into The Badlands….the second season….OMG! They did not disappoint, I’m loving it still.

    *SPOILER ALERT*……..

Why the heck did Veil “save” Quinn?? Why girl? Sonny had “clipped” him real good (or so we thought). Damn, if he’s not holding her captive and Sonny’s baby too! Oh and the “single minded” ones that first took MK and the end of season 1, were they the same monks at that compound where MK was or are they a different set of monks? Also, I think the master is taking MK’s “gift”, feigning that she’s helping him channel it. I don’t trust her. Let me know what you think.

Other shows I’m watching……….literally too many to name. LOL. So I’ll keep it on Badlands, right now. Even though Walking Dead was a trip last season. They killed my “Glenn” off and “Sasha” went out in “walker” glory. I just want somebody to take Neegan all – the -way Out!….and with Lucille too. Is that wrong? LOL.

    • It’s been a while for me, too. I should’ve already put up a new thread, actually…

I have NO idea why Veil did that. SMH Should have known the writers were going to keep him around to torture us, though. Isn’t little Henry precious? Aww ❤💕💕

I don’t trust the master either. She seems shady. I think they’re the same monks, but I’m not sure…

If you didn’t want Neegan jacked, there would be something wrong, lol! It’s moments like the way he was with Sasha (letting his guard down a little and talking with her like a normal human being) that makes me want him to just change for the better. But in my lucid moments I know that’s crazy. He’s ruthless and a nutter and he’s got to go, preferably slowly for what he did to Glenn! I thought for sure he’d crapped his pants when Shiva the tiger came out of nowhere and bit his soldier’s face off, ahahaha!

  3. I’ve been watching INCORPORATED on Syfy, and to tell you the truth, when I first tuned in I was just giving it a shot, not expecting it to hook me at all. But hook me it did, hard and early on. I didn’t expect the story or the characters to be so intriguing!

The main character, Ben, is amazingly smart and has b*lls of steel. To get as far as he has without getting caught in this type of world… whew. Theo is captivating as well. And Julian Morse, the guy that gets information out of you in the Quiet Room… I don’t want to ever go in the Quiet Room!

The world-building and visuals are ah.maz.ing. Holy cow. The plot itself — I can see this happening in the US in the future, oh heck yeah. The TV ad about America being a third-world country in 2066 hit home for me. *shiver*

Anyhoos, we’re 5 episodes in and the writing is all I could ask for. Gonna keep on riding this train, y’all.

    • I started watching Incorporated too! I have to go back and re-introduce myself to it. It’s like a “slow burn” as far as me getting into it. Other shows have captured my attention a little more. We’ve also started watching Van Helsing (the TV show) which is a new take on the age old character tale. I have also started watching Travelers and also Paranoid on Netflix.
On the drama front, I’m watching Legend of the Blue Sea, Princess Wei Young and Goblin: The Lonely and Great God. Loving all three, as they are each different and unique. Although, I think Goblin edges out the other two as the one I like the most. I’ll say Wei Young is the longest drama I’ve ever watched and to be honest they could’ve wrapped that baby up in about 20 episodes but I guess K-dramas have spoiled me in that regard. SMILES.
Oh and I do remember that Quiet Room and nope…..I wouldn’t want any parts of it either. SMILES. Well, that’s it for me for now. Just waiting for the new seasons of all my other established shows to come back. Until then………………………….

This drama I loved from start to finish, although I did want the king’s doppelganger to meet Hae Soo in the future. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Can I just say this cast was good looking on steroids….like seriously. Awesome drama!

      • Please do watch it when you get a chance. It’s really, really good. It’s also one of the few dramas I’d like to see get a second season. The whole cast just worked perfectly and they were all gorgeous as hell…. but “Prince So” (#4)………Have Mercy!

        Like

        • Lee jooon ki is pretty, but the rugged look gets me every time and this 8th Prince – Kim Ha Neul, I think his name is…

I’m on episode 10 right now (watching right this minute) and I’m so entranced by him that I was thinking…”How bad is it? If Rain was in this drama would my eyes still be following #8’s every moment on screen? ”

I need that tested so Rain and Kim Ha Neul need to be in a drama right-fast-in-a-hurry@

          • They are all gorgeous and use their masculine strengths in different ways. Producers cast each part perfectly, as far as I’m concerned. Rugged is not a term I would use to describe Prince Wook (#8)actually…..regal…..most definitely. As a matter of fact, regal is how I would describe each of them but to varying degrees.

I’ve seen Lee Joon Ki in other productions and he is a “beauty” to be sure. However, his mysteriousness, his pain/emotional darkness, his yearning mixed with his princely arrogance is a “deadly” combination to a woman. You want to “fix” what’s broken in him and then jump his bones at the same time. This is what makes Prince So sexy as hell. Prince Wook (#8) is beautiful too, most definitely. His emotional strength is quiet and contained and the he’s the most regal of all the Prince’s IMO.

            Like

            • @bialamode – Absolutely! “Regal” – you have it the exact term, but his face by itself is rugged to me. From his square jaw to the bump in his nose. I love it. Even his slightly bucked teeth. 🙂 Whereas Lee Joon ki’s features are perfection (and I think it’s all natural too); it’s just my personal preference is to like things to look like they’ve weathered a punch or two.

In fact, I wish the makeup people had gone all out to make Prince #4’s scar more hideous. Then I’d be all over him! I actually liked him in his hideous masks better. *I am so weird.*

            • @bialamode – Scarlet moon Lovers. Well, ep. 11 is a game changer. I have jumped ships – big time!

  6. What Asians dramas are everyone watching now?

Drama W has me in a strangle hold. I am SO hooked on it, it ain’t funny! It’s even got me thinking about what my characters might say or do if I were to meet them (uh oh!). I’ve heard that it recently finished in Korea, but on MBC Drama HD on my satellite provider, we’re only on Episode 12 and I’m desperately trying not to get SPOILERed, eek…

I’m also watching Queen’s Flower, Hold My Hand, and Working Mom At Home Daddy, and I’m loving them all. I’ve got about 40 episodes to go with each one, roughly, so in a few months I’ll be looking for all new dramas.

  7. OMG, I think last night was Fear The Walking Dead’s season finale and I’m so glad because I was right on the verge of dropping it. Both Madison and Nick have become so unlikable, I can hardly stand it. It’s not that they’re doing things that I don’t like or anything like that. It’s that neither of them seem to learn and grow in the context of this apocalypse.

With Nick, that’s not surprising, Lol. That IS him. His career choice even before the zombies was The Guy That Doesn’t Make Sense. Maddie? Her head is like nothing more than a hat rack even though she’s leading this group. Should she make mistakes? Sure. Absolutely. But not one that she would have waaaay back when you could count the zombies in L.A. on one hand and no one knew what was happening. Sheesh.

This show was so interesting and different when it started.

The Walking Dead it aint. *sigh*

    • LOL……..I feel you on Fear The Walking Dead. Nick is a self-centered little jack ass (always has been), even in the midst of his drug use. He and his mother Madison are alike in the sense that they will do whatever they feel they want/need to do in a given circumstance….consequences be damned (pesky little thing called consequences). I mean damn…..I wanted to slap her silly (1) when she ran over to those people in the “grocery” store cause she thought she heard a vague description of Nick. I was like what part of stay put don’t you get fool, they will kill you. Nick did the same mess earlier with the candy for that little girl. His ass was told to stay put too. Mother and son….tit for tat…..just alike. They will do what they want and only think about how it affects others later. (2) I wanted to slap her when she turned those damned hotel lights on. Just point every walker in town to your hide out spot why don’t you. Yeah, it brought Travis to her but every other walker and possibly every other thieving crazy lunatic too. Can’t fight off e’erybody. She’s an idiot.

Honestly, as stone cold crazy as he’s becoming I’m really starting to be intrigued with Chris’ character. He’s interesting (character wise). He’s the only one who you are beginning to see the full on “evolution” of his character take shape. I didn’t like him at first and I still don’t like what his character is doing…..But…..he’s got my attention. I’m hella intrigued as to how far the writers are going to take his kind of “psycho.” The intriguing part is that he is stone cold sober doing what he’s doing. He is not taking drugs, he is not getting wasted….he just kills….cause it’s the way he sees the world working in the apocalypse. No point in crying over spilled milk. Just be about it. Talk about focus. LOL.

100% agree….it’s no Walking Dead, but I’ll watch (for now) because it’s a sister show to Walking Dead mostly. Also, I’ll watch because I want to support my people when they are on popular shows like this. I want to support Colman Domingo who plays Victor Strand.

    • Wow, hella annoyed now. Just when I said that the “Chris” character was the most intriguing/interesting on FTWD, they go and kill him off! Well, damn. Of course, that got the stick out of Travis’ butt………but still. I think there was more mileage left in the Chris character. Went on little cutie’s IG and he talks as if it has been a great run so…oh well. Looks like he’ll be on Marvel’s Agents of Shield next. So that’s good for him.

  8. OMG, I just an advertisement for back to back recap episodes of Into The Badlands on BBC America. Does that mean maybe we get to start a new season here soon? Man, I hope so. I guess we’ll see!

Preacher is on hiatus. I’m watching Queen of the South right now because it fascinates me how an unassuming young woman ended up becoming a top Queenpin in organized crime, over all the men along her path. I also just watched the first new episode of Fear The Walking Dead after its mid-season hiatus, but I’m not sure if I’ll continue. “Nick” and “Alicia” really work my last nerves and that’s bad because I’m supposed to be invested in them. Hell, they’re just flippin’ irritating.

    • I feel you on all fronts. I can’t wait for Badlands to start back. I saw that BBC America was playing it again as well. Queen of South……love it! I love how they show her alter ego queenpin “inside her mind” talking to her, giving her those “you-got-to-be-a-bad-B-to-make-it-in-this-drug-world” mental pep talks. It really chills me too, because these women go from living an everyday kinda life (sorta) to fighting for the lives in a seedy world every single day…..one extreme to another. It’s quite a fascinating show.

Don’t even get me started on Nick and Alicia. I tell you Nick is one character I want to slap senseless through the TV screen. He just does dumb “ish”…..like WTH?

Preacher………love it, but man it’s the “outer limits” on steroids. It’s a show you can’t even describe to people really. They just have to watch it.

I’m also watching Tyrant right now too. Actually I’m watching so damned many shows sometimes it’s hard to keep up. Our DVR gets a work out I tell ya. SMILES………………….

  9. OMG, Zoo is back! When we left off last season, it looked like we might get the animals under control IF the main characters managed to survive, at least. But no no no — the animals have one-upped us humans again and brought the INSECTS into it. What a nightmare! LOL~ Enjoying the new season so far…

What can I say about Preacher? Now that we know what the thing is inside Preacher Jesse, the story’s even better. And I love the way they’re combining fantasy worlds that have up to this point been separated. SO cool, not been done before. Angels, demons, vampires… oh my~ 😀

Zoo, I starting watching on Netflix last year and I like it too. I know the new season has started, but I haven’t watched it as yet. Wow, they’ve got insects involved too now? I gotta check it out.

I’ve started back watching Marco Polo (the new season) on Netflix. Yes indeed. They kept us waiting a while for this one. Genghis is true to form…still I must say. I think Marco is about to get his eyes opened even further to people and their treachery this season. 10. Hey Dee Dee, you were right. “Preacher” DID grab me, haha! After watching the first episode, I had to see where it was going. I still have episodes 2 and 3 to watch, but I know I’m hooked (at least for now). 🙂

What a surprise, though. I’m so glad you said something. I never would have guessed the plot involved all of that from just looking at the previews. I had a feeling that the alien/entity would find a good home inside the preacher, seeing as he didn’t really believe the religion he representing, haha. (Poor Tom Cruise. I’m ashamed to say I laughed my behind off!)

The actor who’s playing “Cassidy” is one of my favorite British actors. The first time I saw him, he was playing “Rudy” on the British TV series “Misfits” and I tell you, he made that show. His comedic timing, perfect! I’m looking forward to what he’s going to do with this “fiery” character. So, thanks for the tip!

    • SMILES……………I figured you would like it and I agree, the previews are SO deceiving. SMILES. I like that I was surprised….and pleasantly. It was really unexpected.

I’ve also added another “Sci-Fi-ish” show to my DVR list too. It’s called “Cleverman” on the Sundance TV channel. It’s futuristic, but not too far into the future and it involves Aboriginal peoples and unfair treatment they are suffering in future times at the hands of their government/powers that be. The gist of the show is not unlike what you’ve seen in the past….”oppressor/oppressee” type scenarios. However, this show is told from the perspective of Aboriginal peoples and delves into the mystical/spiritual side of their culture, etc. You don’t see this particular culture of people featured on series TV very often, especially in the States, which is what really makes this an unusual show.

In the show, powers of the Cleverman is something passed down through the men of the culture. Also, whoever is the current Cleverman is the one that chooses his successor and who he feels is right to carry on that duty. This show focuses on two brothers in particular. Think “Cain and Abel” type relationship between the two. The older brother is the hot shot, leader of his peeps in the “hood” and the television face of their plight. The younger brother is the ne’er do well who has self-exiled himself from his peeps. You can guess who was chosen to inherit the powers of the Cleverman. It’s not at riveting as the Preacher (if I had to compare the two), but it certainly grabbed my interest too….in a more subtle way. I think it’s definitely worth a “look-see” too. SMILES…………………

  11. Good mercy, I missed this convo. SMILES.

Well, if we Clouds who can be non-Rain biased when it comes to his work are truly honest….gotta go with Terri on my overall feelings about “The Prince”…yeah, it kinda sucked. However, Stephe is absolutely right too….Rain probably knew going in what kind of production The Prince was going to be. He seems to be a pretty shrewd businessman that way. For him, this was just a “getting-myself-more-U.S. experience” kinda movie. That movie wasn’t meant to be more than it was. I knew it for sure when I watched Bruce Willis on David Letterman (at the time) doing “stupid pet tricks” or some such rather than promoting the movie. Now THAT pissed me off, I kept waiting and waiting but no mention of The Prince. That is when I knew what it was going to be. However, me being the loyal Cloud that I am, went to the theater to support it anyway. SMILES.

Speaking as one who barely knows a few words in other languages herself, my hat is off to anyone who is fluent in a language not their native tongue. Now, having said that, Terri is right. Rain will have to become more fluent in English. While watching Rain in The Prince, it was hard to understand him at times. I will say that if he is going to get parts in American (or other Western) productions, he will have to improve his English no doubt. Westerners have short attention spans and won’t have the patience to try and decipher what they think he is trying to say. Western viewers will also be the first to complain about something like that too. Which wouldn’t be good for any movie. Word of mouth, be it positive or negative, can make or break a movie sometimes. I’ve also said many times, Rain doesn’t have to lose his accent, but he just has to be more understandable. Case in point Jackie Chan. Jackie Chan has a heavy accent, however, American audiences have no problem understanding him. This is what I mean.

I did see in comments below that a valid point was made. Rain just may not have a “burning” desire to jump into the American market as maybe he once did. This is quite possible. Also, with several Clouds from the West traveling to Asia pretty frequently, Rain just may say to himself why the hell should I come to the West, when the West comes to me (*please don’t get upset Clouds, just a thought/observation*). He’s as popular as ever in Asia and making that paper in Asia, so yeah…his desire could have waned. If that be the case, then he may not need to learn English any more than he already has.

My honest opinion, Rain is too damned competitive to leave “conquering” the American market on the table. SMILES. I think he still wants to come work here at some point and I think he knows exactly what he will have to do to make that happen. The problem is he will be dealing with trying to win over audiences in a diverse nation with equally diverse tastes across the board not just an Asian audience with Asian sensibilities (culturally speaking). He can’t just depend on his Clouds only in this regard. The catch 22…….he will only gain more Clouds (fans) in the West when he becomes more visible in the West. That’s just it. We American Clouds, don’t count in this regard. We like and follow him no matter where he is working. However, if he is truly going to “crack” this market, he will have to work here and spend time here to drum up that “bidnez.” SMILES

  12. Well, this is my take on “The Prince” situation.

The acting, the plot, and the post production could have been done a heck of a lot better. I mean, my God. Talk about phoning in your performances, folks. 😦 But. I don’t believe for one minute that Rain expected anything more of that movie than what it did. Not for one minute did I think that he expected it to be some huge box office smash. Looking at the cast and the director, he knew the real deal just like we knew. He was using that movie for a stepping stone. And it worked.

Just like “Speed Racer”. He wanted to get his foot in the door (again).

In an interview after “Speed Racer”, he was asked if it bothered him that the movie hadn’t done so well. When he said not really, they asked him why. He said because it wasn’t HIS movie. He was part of an ensemble cast, a member of the supporting cast, not the star. He’d loved the part of Taejo and put his very best into it, so he had no regrets regardless of how the movie did. What he wanted back then, he said, was for movie-goers and people inside the Hollywood movie machine to see him and say, WHO is that guy? And they did, big time.

Looks to me he used “The Prince” the same way. An ensemble cast, with him in the supporting cast, where he could shine and be a bright light in an otherwise dull view. Familiar? He wanted people to say, WHO is that guy? OH, it’s Rain, remember? He wanted the Hollywood movie makers to see how hella-good he is, including having the talent to do lots of his own stunts. And it worked, again. I read a lot of reviews, reviews that trashed the movie but that said the one good thing about “The Prince” was Rain. BOOM.

I’m glad he took his former U.S. management’s advice and, after his momentum slowed because of the military, started back slowly out of the gate. That’s what he should have done. Rain knew good and well that it was waaay too risky to come swinging at the U.S. mainstream right out of the gate in some huge star role, with nobody ready for him. One really bad misstep like that that bombs and he knows his career here is over. He’s getting himself recognized and really liked first, working his way in and UP.

He’s probably got a nice sized “Rolodex” of directors, actors, and movers and shakers to call by now, I reckon. From what I hear, he’s been getting scripts on the regular. And you can bet he will be strategic as hell when it comes to the next thing he picks to do. There will be a method to his madness, LOL~ JMHO

P.S. I’ve got to give the director some credit. He was wanting Rain for “Mark” from the get-go, before they even spoke.

  13. My goodness, where have I been? I just ran into a show on TV called “Wayward Pines” last night, and the plot is pretty intriguing…

I remember seeing the name weeks ago, but let’s face it, that name is pretty lukewarm, not very exciting, and sounds like a mom-and-pop type of drama, like “The Waltons”. LOL

To my utter surprise, the plot is science fiction/horror/fantasy. Something happened to alter human DNA and started turning people into murderous wild things with claws and fangs and deformities, and the normal population started dwindling to nothing, so a bunch of folks were put into suspended animation/cryo-sleep behind a electrified fence for 2000 years after the worst of it was passed. These people were then in charge of starting up the human race again, and of course, the usual things have gone wrong, for instance the people in charge abusing their power, etc. And on top of that, the wild things are still running amok.

I really liked Jason Patric in The Prince (2014, with Rain), so he’s another reason I find myself drawn to “Wayward Pines”. From what I’ve seen so far, he’s a perfect fit for his character. 🙂

This show is in its second season — whutttt?? I guess I’d best get myself over to Hulu and see if I can find the first one and catch up. Hm!

    • Ugh! The Prince. Really? I own the movie because…well, you already know why. But it was AWFUL! It felt like Bruce Willis and John Cusak were there just trying to get a little extra money wherever they’re still wanted before their careers completely dry up. And the fact that they roped Rain into that mess and had him looking bizarre as well – I’m still pissed off.

Oh and Jason Patric’s smugness on the commentary – every time Rain appears on screen he says “Here he comes: Precipitation”. And the other commentator says “huh?” And despite it never getting a laugh or even a chuckle, he continues to do it throughout the movie. And I’m thinking the whole time that his washed up azz don’t even realize that Rain’s star is a thousand times brighter and huger than his was at the height of his popularity (what little there was if it)!

What I’m most pissed off about is, I bet from Rain and his management’s point of view, they heard these big name stars (Willis & Cusak) and thought it would be a good vehicle to really introduce Rain to the general U.S. audience (meaning people that wouldn’t necessarily go see a movie about ninjas). Not realizing these guys are retiring action stars – meaning no one is flocking to the theatres to see them anymore. So now, this has probably derailed (maybe disappointed Rain?) to the point he’s given up on the U.S. invasion. I hope not but…I am too mad to even express this correctly.

I get what you are saying. Totally. I was frustrated as heck too. Incredibly bad movie. Unbelievably bad.

I don’t know who this Brian A. Miller knows, but apparently he knows someone’s son or mother or something. Because he’s a terrible director. All of his movies are the straight-to-video variety. And they are all pretty bad.

You’re also right about Rain’s management not knowing their head from their tail in Hollywood (not that you said it that way exactly, but I’m gonna). But that is understandable isn’t it? After all, they aren’t native to the USA, don’t speak English (at least I don’t think they do), and likely have no clue how to get Rain decent parts here. They have even fewer contacts here, because let’s face it. This is biased old Hollywood we’re talking about, right?

Unfortunately, the only way this will change is if:

        1. Someone already in Hollywood who is successful and powerful enough to care gives Rain a part in which his talent can truly shine. (The likelihood of that happening? Probably zilch.) AND
        2. Rain masters English. To truly create opportunity here in the U.S., Rain needs to be able to wheel and deal with the powers-that-be to get the good parts, like he can in Asia. Frankly, the only way he can do that is if he becomes truly fluent in English and can actually sit down and talk to the powers-that-be HIMSELF. I mean in business/contract/I’m-your-guy ENGLISH.

I guess if only one of my wishes for Rain could come true, it would have to be that he finally master his English–sooner than later. Which either he doesn’t seem wont to do, or doesn’t have the time for. At least, he hasn’t been able to manage that in the 7 years I’ve been following his career. Ah…but if wishes were fishes.

Maybe he just doesn’t want Hollywood enough, because, after all, he ain’t doing all that bad in Asia without us, right?

        Terri :-}

        • I hear you, Terri and all that you said is true. But JYP’s English seems exceptional and he has to have top business smarts. (Although it’s true that they have no way of knowing the trends, but they could check with Korean-Americans cause I know they stationed done personnel here at one time). I really don’t blame Rain or his management. In fact, Rain’s English improved so much between Ninja Assassin and The Prince, that I want someone to start a petition to get him as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance (hint, hint) because it wouldn’t require a LOT of complicated English to critique the dancers. I’m sure he already knows the English terms for dance moves because I’ve seen video of him working with American hip hop choreographers.

I just fault that movie for luring him into something that probably made him frustrated with American audiences, who would never, ever turn out to see that movie. A few die-hard (oo, I punned) Bruce Willis fans might…MIGHT…stream it for free if it’s included in their Netflix package and nothing else is on.

Somebody put the “bad mouth” on Ninja Assassin before it ever got released because my son and his friends, who will watch poorly produced old ninja and old Chinese martial arts films dismissed NA out of hand.

Either way, Jason Patric was never anybody I paid any attention to and now that he was so discourteous to a foreign star that he knew nothing about (and add to it it was Rain), he can just go fade into oblivion on Lifetime Channel (if he’s lucky and they want his tired broke azz (to pay somebody’s grandfather).

*sorry but I’m not embarassed at all* lol

          • You know….the Twilight movies is what “happened to” NA at the box office at that time. NA was released the same week as one of Twilight movies (I think the second one) and folks went in droves to see it. I was into Twilight too at the time as well and ninja movies weren’t on my radar. By happenstance, hubby and I went to Blockbuster (when they were still standing) and rented NA on the recommendation of the store clerk. I loved it. NA was everything ninja movies traditionally were with a little extra (that being Rain). Honestly, IMHO, Rain should have tried to capitalize off of his NA movie for a few reasons. (1) His English at the time was tad better than it was in The Prince actually (2) He had the advantage (yes, advantage) of being an unknown….so the pressure of expectations coming from an American audience weren’t there. If the movie tanked….no biggie, if it was a success….even better. (3) He proved quite handily that he could indeed carry a movie in a U.S. production. It’s just the timing of the movie’s release sucked, so it didn’t get the number is probably would have. That movie would have been right up the alley of teen boys make no mistake.

I’ll say this, we older Clouds (ones who have followed him for several years now), didn’t realize but soon came to realize one thing. Even though Rain is indeed his own man when it comes to his business affairs, he is Korean through and through and his career decisions are made with that in mind first and foremost….always. We in the U.S. (the West), we want him to work over here like yesterday as there are So many productions his talents are good for, but he knows and we now know that there is a delicate balance he always tries to strike when it comes to satisfying his Korean fans and now his ever growing Western fan base. Unfortunately for us in the West, Korea (and Asia in general) usually win out. *SIGH* I honestly don’t mind saying at this point, it’s so damned frustrating. (*Still “love” you though Sweetness*). Oh and as far as watching “old ninja movies”…..I’ll tell ya….plenty of us (of a certain age) grew up watching that very thing….every Saturday morning. LOL. They may be campy, but they are whatcha call “cult classics” now. These youngins know nothing about that. That was good TV watching when we were kids. LOL. Oh and don’t get me started on old Godzilla movies. SMILES.

As far as Jason Patric being a smug ass, you gotta remember it’s all about ego in Hollywood….well money and ego. You better know every single actor who signed on to do that movie more than likely knew who Rain was prior to him setting one foot on that set. Actors always want to know who they are going to act with in any given movie even if it’s someone unknown or unknown to them. Why?…because of good old fashioned ego and also (depending on the movie) they want to protect their so-called actor reputations and what not. NA got Rain some good exposure over here, so I am sure he was googled by his co-stars who didn’t know him before. Jason Patric saw all that sexy goodness coming his way and got jealous…plain and simple. So him needling Rain and calling him “precipitation” was his jealously (on the sly) rearing it’s ugly head. Yeah, we “see” you Jason Patric.

            • It just makes me so mad, bialamode! Because I also grew up watching those old martial arts flicks, I raised my son to enjoy them to. In fact, his entire life revolved around TaeKwonDo from age 3 until he went off to college. He was good enough for a black belt at 6, but his Korean master was very old school and that wasn’t deemed appropriate so they waited until he was 10. (Official Jr. Olympic TKD Champion, City & State Champion several times during the years he competed.)

So once I discovered Rain, and tried to tell my son who this amazing performer that I’m gaga over by saying “Did you see that movie Ninja Assassin?” – and my son’s response was “I heard that movie sucked.” without even seeing it… I am livid!

That tells me that the movie got bad word of mouth in the martial arts community and probably wasn’t promoted as well as it could’ve been. I also never saw any promos for it and I used to be an avid movie goer during that time and was pretty involved in the TKD community as well (half way to a black belt myself). Just so disappointed. I feel cheated on his behalf and in all the U.S. fans’ behalf that don’t know about him (and probably mainly mad cause I have no one to share my obsession with cause nobody knows who he is. ) I can’t say “you’ve got to see Rain’s latest kdrama or video” cause their response is “Rain who?”

              Okay. Done pouting…

When I found out, I was thoroughly amazed and soon became “enamored” in a fangirl kinda way. SMILES. My peeps were like yeah, yeah, yeah Rain….Ok…we hear you. When you get to the forum homepage, scroll down to where you see Fan Fiction and you will see Other’s Fan Fiction. You should see the title “Raizo and Mika: The Journey Continues.” Jenna (or Merrick one of the forum admins.) posted it for me. The full story is there. It’s based on a comic book series, from what I understand. Actor Seth Rogen is one of the producers, which surprised me. The show is so non-Seth like. SMILES.

The first scene will have you intrigued.

  16. Well, I’ve already said that I watched and loved Please Come Back Mister. I also have to be honest. I did watch Descendants of the Sun but only after Please Come Back Mister online and I loved it too. Song Joong Ki….too cute for words. These “mens” come back from a stint in the ROK army all “maskaline”…….voices even deeper. Good Gravy!

Anyway….while I’m looking for another K-drama to get into, I’m watching my usual American TV shows: Empire, The Originals, Fresh Off The Boat, Stitchers, Game of Thrones, Fear The Walking Dead, Blindspot, The Black List and Suits. I’ve also started watching Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (cutie pie Daniel Henney stars in that one).

As far as movies go, just watched Captain America: The Civil War. To me it was more of the same But it introduced the Black Panther superhero character. Gosh, I can – not – wait until the Black Panther movie hits theatres….can not wait! And YES for obvious reasons, however, more than that I feel Chadwick Boseman completely embodied that character in every way. He’s an awesome young actor. He also gave stellar performances as both Jackie Robinson and James Brown on film as well……two very different yet equally ICONIC individuals in the black community. Again, he’s an awesome talent.

    • I recommend Five Children. The main female character’s husband left her for her best friend. But she’s no typical helpless Kdrama miss. She’s a WOMAN who knows how to handle people when they step to her wrong, especially her ex husband, his new wife and new mother in law. I tuned in for hottie Sung Hoon (supporting character), but stayed for the amazing heroine. Example: the ex’s new wife & mother in law decide to put the first wife in check and make her kneel to get her child support. .. she shows up and snatches their car keys to hold for ransome until they pay up! They don’t know how to handle her. “Ohtakay!” lol

    • I’ve only seen one episode of Descendants of The Sun, and it captivated me right off. I can see why it was so popular, and Song Joong Ki was cute as a button and very appealing. I simply didn’t have time to add it to my watch list at the time. Hopefully, future-wise, I’ll get to go back and watch the whole drama.

I too am watching Empire (good lord, them Lyons), Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, Rush Hour, Supernatural, and Call The Midwife, on a regular basis. I spend a lot of time on HGTV and DIY programs — House Hunters, Property Brothers, renovation shows, etc. Great stuff when it comes to making my surroundings better on my own…

I haven’t been to the movies lately, although I’m planning to go next month. At home, I just watched Ant-Man (I’m a superhero babe and comic book and graphic novel collector) and I must say, it was a great use of 2 hours of my life, haha! Back in the day when I was collecting, I didn’t pay much attention to Ant-Man, which is why I watched this movie. It didn’t let me down. The laughs were hysterical and the suspense was great. Paul Rudd was flippin’ hilarious! Evangeline Lilly was good, too. I haven’t seen her since LOST. I don’t know how the movie held up to Ant-Man aficionados, but it left me very satisfied, all the way up to the very end when they set up Ant-Man 2 by using Captain America and Falcon. Yesssss!

      • Oh we didn’t go to the theater to see Captain America. We have that Amazon TV Firestick. Also, there is a web site you can watch current movies from online. Since we have a smart TV we can watch them that way. However, we still go to the theater from time to time.

I swear hubby has gotten me into all these comic book character movies. Some because we grew up watching them, others because they are just popular these days. I’ve also seen Ant Man and surprisingly it was better than I had anticipated. SMILES.

We also watch Property Brothers and House Hunters too. I also like Love It or List It too. Now that new Rush Hour TV show….didn’t like it. The “Chris Tucker” character is even more annoying to me than Chris Tucker LOL. I heard it was cancelled though. Fear The Walking Dead I watch because it’s part of the Walking Dead fam. However, I haven’t found one specific character that resonates with me as yet. They all annoy the hell out of me at different times. LOL. I think it’s because you know what’s coming because you’ve watched The Walking Dead first and their actions seem hella stupid at times. I find myself yelling at the TV out of pure frustration watching them. LOL.

Yep………them Lyons though! I love seeing Hollywood legend Leslie Uggams play Luscious’ crazy mom. Youngins don’t know her, but they should. SMILES Since Hollywood has decided to remake Roots, I recommend watching the original Roots miniseries (which Leslie starred in). Hollywood is getting on my nerves remaking every damned thing…..seriously!

I saw Anika Noni Rose on Jimmy Kimmel. She will be starring in this new production. She says it will concentrate on Kunta’s life before he was taken from Africa. She says technology has allowed Hollywood to expand on the story from the beginning where Alex Haley was not able to do so 40 years ago (wow I still can’t believe it’s been that long)……*mind blown*

Hollywood is always trying to “one up” the past remaking everything. Oh well.

  21. I absolutely LOVED Come Back, Mister. Beginning, middle, and end. The ending was perfect with the “couple” I wanted together meeting and getting together (sort of LOL). It broke my heart when Han Gi Tak was erased from history, but he knew that and accepted the consequences of his actions. Honey Lee’s character’s abuse outraged me and I was happy to see her ex (Mr. Nasty CEO) get his comeuppance. And that sleezy bully who smiled like the Devil, I was never so glad to see someone hit the pavement before. The plot twist with Kim Young Soo’s wife (Lee Min Jung) took me by surprise. Great job, writers!

The comedic moments made me howl with laughter. The tragic moments made me cry buckets. Rain was in his element and could not have done a better job. The whole cast was on point and I highly recommend this drama.

They were so funny, and they depended on each other and were always there for each other, and wept for each other when times were rough. I knew that at some point their souls would have to go back Upstairs and the real guy that Rain looked like would be rescued off that island, and that Lee Min Jung’s character would stay loyal to her dead hubby, no chance of a love connection there.

I got so invested in the Rain/Oh Yeon Seo pairing that I found myself wondering where the REAL woman who belonged in Oh Yeon Seon’s body was. I thought it would be awesome if the castaway Rain and the real woman could find each other and be attracted to each other in the end. It was like the writer read my mind! haha
