  1. Let me preface this by saying that I certainly did NOT want KCM to be raked over any coals by the press, and I hate that he had to do jail time. And I have absolutely nothing against YunHak.

You would think the press would have been at the gate to hound KCM today, seeing as he is ending his service by just having served time in military jail, or that they would be smearing him in articles for much the same reason. But neither of those appear to be the case.

If any of the lame K-Pop sites around have written about his discharge, it’s news to me because I haven’t run across a thing. I had to put his name in Hangeul just to get a few piddly overseas articles to pop up. And I haven’t been able to find a stitch of video. At all. (Looks like he simply walked out and left quietly without a word, thank God. But I don’t know.)

I swear, the South Korean attitude is just lame with all the talk about honor and obeying the rules and how important that is. KCM was actually caught on video doing what he was eventually charged with, and did some time, but you could barely find a news article with his name even IN IT. And I haven’t seen a netizen say a damned thing about him. Supernova’s Jung YunHak was discharged two weeks ago and the press and netizens were like, “Wow, cool!” (http://onehallyu.com/index.php?/topic/13859-supernovas-leader-yunhak-is-discharged-from-military-service/) RAIN kept his nose completely clean after his witch hunt eight months ago and was discharged, and they all proceeded to chop him up into little bits for what other people did, and smear his name with lies for fun.

Folks can keep all that hogwash about how “Well, it’s just so sensitive over there when it comes to the military” BS to themselves. It’s all about what your NAME is, period. They can’t even be consistent. LOL

    /end rant

    • Stephe,

No, you aren’t imagining it. There is literally NO news about KCM’s discharge to be found other than brief mentions, which is likely why K-Pop sites haven’t been reporting on it. Sadly, it’s not news.

Does make you wonder about all that hoopla over Rain’s discharge, huh? LOL.

  2. Welcome home, KCM. Glad to see you back where you belong, soldier. (I hope you ran like hell when you passed Go and collected $200.)

  3. It seems that Hollywood is looking more and more into Japanese, Korean, and Chinese scripts, anime, etc. to make movies. I’m not complaining, in fact, I’m thrilled that they’re looking in the right direction! Lol!! The more I watch Korean, Japanese dramas, the more I like what I see, the creativity is incredible and this is what Hollywood needs. I mean, I like Marvel but hello, I think they’ve squeeze almost all the juice from these characters! Hollywood old formulas has being used and reused so many times, it’s boring. On the other hand, Japan, Korea and China are blooming with new ideas. My point is that if Hollywood is looking into Asia that means that our baby boy may get a better chance at different characters than when he did Ninja Assassin. What I saw in Wolverine, for example, is that stereotypes lines for Asians are beginning to disappear. Is subtle but the important thing is that we are getting there! 😀

  4. Ok, it’s getting ridiculous now…..this whole idea of “imitation” being a form of flattery. The world of “Twerking” has now hit Korea. OMFrickinG!! Saw this on April’s FB and just like she said…..I’m SO done. I’ve got a whole LOT to say on this issue (most of it to my peeps), but this is not the forum to do that. All I can say is damn……just damn. (*hangs head*).

    • PLEASE spare me, South Korea. *sigh*

Believe me, I’m not “claiming” Twerking. It’s that I don’t see why the heck anyone would want to do it in the first place except in the dark (i.e. it ain’t that flattering). ROFL

      • Exactly, if it’s dark and you’re with whoever your partner is, then twerk til your rear end falls off, but This “dance craze ain’t” cute. Korea needs to understand (especially if they’re going to keep looking to American hip-hop for “inspiration”), not all things hip-hop related is flattering or Cute to do. Not everyone admires it or is impressed by it.

Korea…..the “ladies” (some and not all of them) you see twerking in rap videos are strippers by profession (I reiterate some of them, not all of them). “Proper” ladies (in general) don’t/won’t see twerking as a respectable thing to do. As a matter of fact, a lot of people see it as quite improper. Personally, the desire to make my butt cheeks ripple like jello is not something I would have a strong desire to do. Once again, I could go further on the deeper social commentary, but my head would start to hurt. Anyway, carry on.

  5. My heart sunk inside my chest when I saw in Twitter that KCM was getting jail time as well, mostly because I know he’s a great guy and also because I knew that Rain would be really sad. They became close friends during their radio show, shared the good, the bad and the ugly. When you make friends in those circumstances, you develop strong bonds. I notice that Rain was kind of sad in the video maybe this is why. The whole situation is a big mess that hurt careers and people as well. So sad!! 😦

  6. I don’t what KCM is but I just wanted to say hi…I’m not exactly a fan of Rain, even though I was really impressed back in 2006 with I’m Coming. I’ve been listening to music and watching his live performances and I really appreciate him now, more than before.

So…he’s with CJ ENT? He left his own company (Cube?) to go to CJ? Anybody know the reasons?

    • Hi, Mello. 🙂 Nice to meet you.

KCM (Kang ChangMo) is a K-Pop singer/soldier who served with Rain in the Army and co-hosted a military radio show with him for most of last year. They are friends.

CJ Entertainment is the production company that made Rain’s latest movie, R2B: Return to Base.

About his management (as we understand it): He was with JYPE from the beginning of his career (2002), and then he left JYPE to make his own company, J.Tune (2008). A year before he went into the military, JYPE and J.Tune merged together (2010), and Rain left both at that time (when his contract ended) to become a free agent with RAINY Entertainment as his business admin. Now that he’s out of the military (2013), RAINY Ent is still his admin, and he just signed for Cube Entertainment to be his new management. The reason he left JYPE/J.Tune, as far as we know, is because he had outgrown the company and it could no longer manage him properly as his career continues to grow.

      • Nice to meet you 🙂
Thanks for the detailed reply. OK, so he needs a company that would support him more, right? I don’t think it’s about money as JYP is richer (I think) than Cube, so it could be about giving him more support and priority (compared to the other artists of the company). Or freedom.

  7. No one has been mentioning KCM (Kang ChangMo) by name at all until now. Have they? And yet they’ve been wearing out the name of the one person who did nothing — Rain — like a mofo. *SMH*

  8. My God. Just as I was starting to feel a little better because at least I could celebrate KCM (Kang ChangMo) walking free tomorrow the 31st, I see this bit of news and I am DE-pressed.

    http://www.allkpop.com/article/2013/07/kcms-discharge-date-from-the-army-gets-pushed-back-because-he-has-to-serve-prison-time

Running back into that restaurant to get his phone got him hung. Even further reason for Rain to be mentally unable to celebrate his freedom — even KCM went to jail for four days. His best bud.

At least on August 4 KCM WILL be out of that hell. I grew fond of KCM during their Speeding Instinct/Fred and Barney days and I can’t help wondering what will be happening at the gate when he appears there, having just served time… ?

    • What?!…….you get jail time just for going back to get something you forgot??? HUH??

Okay, I don’t want to generalize a whole group of people because of the actions of a few. However, is this a Korean thing? or what. They seem to categorize having a sense of duty and honor and propriety in a whole other REALM than others do. I’m just saying.

Honestly, IMHO the military needn’t have completely demolished the entertainment unit (for the sake of this point). I say that as what SHOULD HAVE taken place from Day One is keeping the public OUT of Military Business……Period. The public should have never or ever been allowed to have carte blanche to dictate Anything within the confines of the military. Voice your opinions if you must, but we (the military brass) will act according to what military rules and regulations dictate not what the “lynch mob” public outcries would dictate. That’s it.
