We are glad you are here for Rain. We just wish you would stop assuming that someone has done something nefarious to you every single time you have trouble with your PC. It’s insulting as hell.
There is only one person in the world we have blocked. And I believe everyone knows who she is. (And it’s not you.)

Well I’m hardly ever on my pc anymore and I was feeling so good about the GP being revised that I was going to post a video here, which is why I was using my pc. Which btw is fine and I didn’t have problems going to any other sites and posting and getting response’s, and if I had problem’s with anything I have always asked you ladies. ( I may not be a computer wiz but I’m not dumb). So if you choose to say it was me not this site? So be it. But I’ve always liked cloudusa and would like to continue to get emails so I can keep up with Rain. And I’m not now and have not used sarcasm to talk with you ladies. I’d like to keep the comments here on the blog about Rain stuff.

Final Global Post update:
The SECOND revision has been changed from this:
The soldiers faced unprecedented tough disciplinary actions after a local TV network last month secretly taped a group of soldiers on a night out.
Two of them were caught by a camera crew in front of a massage parlor late at night after failing to get service. Others caught on video included K-pop star Rain and Seven, drinking together in a private restaurant following a performance for a military event.
However, Rain was cleared of any misconduct worthy of punishment and was released by the Defense Ministry two weeks ago, Seoul Broadcasting System reported.
To this:
Seven celebrity soldiers who were caught on camera drinking and entering a massage parlor were sentenced to several days in a military prison for violating the military code of conduct, the defense ministry said Thursday.
The soldiers faced unprecedented tough disciplinary actions after a local TV network last month secretly taped a group of soldiers on a night out.
Two of them were caught by a camera crew in front of a massage parlor late at night after failing to get service. Others were shown drinking together in a private restaurant following a performance for a military event.
With this added on:
Correction: This article has been edited from an earlier version, which included erroneous information suggesting that the performer Rain was involved in recent misconduct.
Wow.
GP has reminded me that all journalists across the world are NOT alike, and that some do indeed still put value on the truth in news.
Holy cow. I just had to note these changes in writing here, for future reference.

If their having personal problems like this get help from his private fan club if ya just feel the need to broadcast it. Because the media just like they did, will go back and find every piece of negativity on you they can just to make matters worse.
But I do hope he takes care of that. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. Sigh…

That’s one more thing some crossover celebs will have to get used to. I know celebs in general keep their personal life and issues quiet, but it’s in the culture of South Korea for celebs to run that mouth, especially coming from the entertainment culture of those variety shows. Over here…..a different ball of wax. Celebs are not quite as forthcoming and take themselves Way too seriously sometimes. Which is good and annoying at the same time. The Korean shows at least give their celebs a more “human” appeal, celebs over here give the same “robotic” boring interview answers that makes you feel like….why did I waste my time watching that interview? However, on this issue PSY needs to chill and just go handle it without inviting the added outside pressure or scrutiny.

FYI, peeps: The Global Post has changed the part of their article that we were protesting from this:

They included K-pop star Rain and Seven, drinking together in a private restaurant following a performance for a military event. Two of them were caught by a camera crew in front of a massage parlor late at night after failing to get service.

However, Rain was cleared of any misconduct worthy of punishment and was released by the Defense Ministry two weeks ago, Seoul Broadcasting System reported.
This is the comment I’ve left in response:
Global Post, I really appreciate that you restructured the third paragraph in this article so that it is clearer that Rain was not at the massage parlor, and also added a new fourth paragraph, stating that the military found that Rain did nothing wrong that night.
I am still quite uncomfortable with the way the (rewritten) second sentence in the third paragraph reads and could be interpreted, but seeing as, technically, Rain and Seven very well might have been drinking together in a private restaurant with the commanders, I will not push the issue.
Thank you for listening and responding when we asked for help.
*****
I got the distinct feeling with this rewrite that GP was kind of playing a word game, you know, splitting hairs if you will (“I did not have sexual intercourse with that woman”). Technically, peeps, he was captured on video. Not doing anything wrong, but on video nonetheless. (I also got the distinct feeling that they might have seen something in their additional research that maybe I haven’t…)
The important thing here is that GP did at least reach out and try to work with us, and did a revision that is better than what they originally wrote.
I think I can live with that. This time.

So, splitting hairs? maybe, but right is still right and we have right on our side regardless. Like a said several comments ago. They have relented and decided to “restructure” their articles but still keep Rain’s name “in” it.
No, what these “reporters” don’t want to happen is being blindsided walking to their own damn cars at night cause of that ole “payola” they got to smear Rain’s name in the first place. FYI: My email correspondence directly with a Global Post editor, sent late last night. — Stephe ^@@^
****
My name is Stephe Thornton, and I received your email address from concerned reader Kathryn Tsudama. Thank you so much for responding to her. Here are some details concerning the situation at hand.
Regarding your article http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/yonhap-news-agency/130725/seven-celebrity-soldiers-sent-military-prison-scandalous-out:
The following sentence is not true: “They included K-pop star Rain and Seven, drinking together in a private restaurant following a performance for a military event.” The local TV station used Rain’s name flagrantly when he was not with the group of soldiers who were taped at all. This came out in the investigation. He was in none of the restaurant footage because the military made it clear that Rain had stayed behind and eaten with his commanders after the show that night instead. A Korean media source for this information is here: (innolife.co.kr/list.php?ac_id=3&ai_id=6444 )
*****
The following sentence is suggestive: “Two of them were caught by a camera crew in front of a massage parlor late at night after failing to get service.” It was Seven and Sangchu who were caught by the camera crew. The way this sentence follows the erroneous sentence about RAIN and Seven, it suggests that Rain and Seven were the ones at the massage parlor.
*****
The Korea Herald, who used the same Yonhap News source as was used for your article, correctly names Sangchu and Seven, not Rain. From what I understand, they made the same error due to Yonhap at first, but have since revised their piece. http://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20130725000853
*****
Here, Rain is not included or mentioned in SBS-sourced reports after the fact, because he’s not in any screen shots nor in any incriminating shots in the original video report. SBS expected him to be with the group under fire because he was with them at the performance, and totally misled the public by not clarifying that he actually wasn’t when they realized it themselves. (http://news.naver.com/main/read.nhn?mode=LSD&mid=sec&sid1=106&oid=311&aid=0000235270 )
They didn’t film him getting off the bus or going in the motel. Or coming back out and walking the streets to that restaurant, or sitting in there eating and drinking. His long-sleeved sweatshirt with the number “8”, khaki shorts, and green and white cap only came in the footage towards the end when he showed up, fetched a soldier, and went back to quarters.
*****
This article in the Dong.A.Ilbo is one of the sources that plainly states the facts and does not use Rain’s name and his scandal from January for ratings like others in Korea, who take SBS’s first report as gospel and are ignoring updated facts in the news. (http://english.donga.com/srv/service.php3?bicode=040000&biid=2013072691208 )
*****
Here is an article posted by Yonhap News where the military specifically said they had no problems with Rain’s whereabouts that night and that he had been where he was supposed to be. Later they clarified that he had been with eating with his commanders and had gone back to his quarters as instructed (see above). (http://news.naver.com/main/read.nhn?mode=LSD&aid=0006352830&mid=shm&oid=001&sid1=106&nh=20130704115837 ) As we understand it, this is the English translation of that article:
Yonhap News 7/4/2013 — [English translation by 화니]
Rain to leave the army on the 10th as scheduled. The inspection of entertainment soldiers is extended.
The Defense Ministry judges Rain that he had no problem of his whereabouts on that day when entertainment soldiers were embroiled in controversy.
On the 4th, the Defense Ministry decided to prolong the special inspection of the operation status of entertainment soldiers by another week.
Defense Department Spokesman ‘Wui Yong-Seop’ (army colonel) said at a regular briefing today, “There is more yet to be confirmed, and therefore we have decided to extend the inspection because we’ll have to make sure that the soldiers and working-level officials of the Defense Media Agency have done their jobs right.
Continuing, “We’ve been investigating the allegations that the persons in charge have been entertained regarding the business affairs of military broadcasting ‘Consolatory Train’ run by the Defense Media Agency.” and “When the results of the inspection are in, the relevant soldiers will strictly be disciplined in accordance with law.”
Since the testimony of the relevant soldiers who held a drinking party and who visited a massage parlor and that of witnesses are not consistent, the special inspection team is known to have done lot of legwork in an effort to find an eyewitness regarding the soldiers’ whereabouts last 21st when the incident occurred.
In particular, it is known that Rain went back to the lodge after he arrived at the place and checked in, went to his room, unpacked, had dinner when a local concert featuring those soldiers including him ended after 9:00pm at that time.
An official from the Defense Ministry said, “We judge Rain that he had no problem of his whereabouts on that day. He’ll leave the army on the 10th as scheduled.”
It has been known that serious problems have surfaced as a result of the inspection of the status of the management and operation of the service support troop.
The Defense Ministry say that when they find there is a severe problem with the service support troop, the entertainment soldier system could be abolished.
Credit to Yonhap News : http://news.naver.com/main/read.nhn?mode=LSD&aid=0006352830&mid=shm&oid=001&sid1=106&nh=20130704115837
English translation by 화니
Rain was not filmed drinking in a private restaurant following his performance or carousing with his troop mates. His only scandal was back in January, concerning his misconduct with actress Kim TaeHee. He was discharged from the military on time and without penalty because of his non-involvement in the June scandal, and does not deserve this kind of damage to the reputation he’s worked hard to build back.
I do understand that Yonhap should be contacted directly in order to stop the erroneous information at its source.
I am hoping that the Global Post will also correct its article in light of this information. I would be most appreciative if you could do that. I did not mean to bombard you with so much information. I simply wasn’t sure what all you needed.
Thank you very much for your time and concern.
******
Sometimes I can access the Innolife site in Korea, and sometimes I cannot. I don’t know if it’s my computer or something else. But just in case you have any trouble, here is the article in its entirety from my media blog on Cloud USA.
Innolife 7/6/2013 —
Rain will be discharged from military as planned on 10th… Ministry of National Defense would give him no punishment
Among the controversy around the reality of the military services done by entertainment soldiers, the singer Rain (Jung Ji-Hoon) will be discharged from the military as previously arranged on coming 10th.
Colonel Wi Yong-Sup from Ministry of National Defense talked about the situation of the progression of the specialized investigation about the reality of entertainment soldiers’ military services which became the controversy through the recent report given by SBS ‘Site 21’, in the Cabinet meeting held in the briefing room of the Ministry of National Defense in Seoul, Yongsan-gu, on 5th. According to Ministry of National Defense, the soldier Jung Ji-Hoon has nothing related to the controversy surrounding the entertainment soldiers’ military services, and he will be discharged on 10th as previously arranged without punishment.
Rain had been in the center of controversy when SBS ‘Site 21’, which was broadcast on 25th of last month, reported the scene of him having meal and drinking alcohol outside after the performance of consolation for soldiers. About this, Ministry of National Defense said “Rain came back later after the consolation performance, and couldn’t have a meal with other soldiers. Therefore, after he had meal with the executives, he came back to his lodgings and went to sleep.” About the suspicion toward drinking alcohol, it was explained that “even if Rain had drunken alcohol, it was caused by the order given by the executive. The commanders could have offered him to drink in terms of encouragement.”
The result of other entertainment soldiers’ specialized investigation will be notified on next week. According to the Ministry of National Defense, the investigation of other entertainment soldiers, excluding Rain, and the commanders in charge of those will be proceeded as scheduled, and the investigation will be finished in next week, followed by strict action.

You know, I put in a general search (doing like I always do) just to see what would pop up on the world wide web. I googled “Rain bi military scandals” and my god. It’s not just so-called “reputable” news outlets we have to contend with, but I really got a taste of why netizens exist. It’s the juvenile, entertainment gossip blogs that have carried this stuff since the whole Tae Hee incident and it’s still out there all inaccurate as can be. I just happened upon an article on Dramafever and the article is about Bi declining his last military vacation. It’s BS too. The writer is named Rhino. Although the general comments are in Bi’s favor, this Rhino character falsely accused Bi as well.

Just an FYI, everyone:
Kathy Hewett Tsudama reported this on Facebook:
“I received an email back from Global Post President, Phil Balboni:
Philip S. Balboni
To
K Tsudama
Thank you for calling this to my attention. I will have our editorial staff investigate and if there is indeed an error, we will surely correct it.”
“I wrote in the comments under the article. Even more i found the site’s President’s name and contact info to email under their mission statement: We welcome your comments on the site and on our reporting and as always please feel free to contact me directly at pbalboni@globalpost.com.”
Let’s keep pushing on and see what else comes down the pike… Thanks to all of you for what you are doing to support Rain in this matter.
Stephe ^@@^
P.S. According to Erzebet Both, the Korea Herald’s article said the same thing, and after she tweeted in protest (and she thinks other people might have too, she’s not sure), Rain’s name was taken out of the KH article.

I am on the Korea Herald’s site simultaneously as I type this comment here and the following sentence I still see in an article entitled, “Seven celebrity soldiers sent to military prison for scandalous” (Yes, that’s where they left the title dangling).
The sentence still in the article: “…..Earlier this year, K-pop star Rain got in trouble when paparazzi photos showed him secretly dating top actress Kim Tae-hee. He was grounded to his unit for a week for violating the code of conduct. ”
Now what I did not see (which was good) was Rain’s name tied to the massage parlor scandal that was addressed at the opening of the article. However, by them leaving the sentence above in the article they still intend to not let Rain “get away” completely clean, if this is indeed the same article Ms. Both is referencing. So, these suckers are playing hardball.

Hateful little mudskippers. YES, Rain screwed up royally in January. But can you stick to the scandal in JUNE for two seconds, please.

I have asked the Global Post under this article and on Twitter to correct this article: http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/yonhap-news-agency/130725/seven-celebrity-soldiers-sent-military-prison-scandalous-out
The following passage is what I am protesting:
The soldiers faced unprecedented tough disciplinary actions after a local TV network last month secretly taped them. They included K-pop star Rain and Seven, drinking together in a private restaurant following a performance for a military event.
Please join me.

Just emailed the editors of the Global Post. I asked that they retract or at least amend the story to reflect Rain’s NON-involvement in the massage parlor incident. I said to them it was blatantly INACCURATE reporting to continue to tie a man’s name to an incident he was NOT involved in whatsoever. It’s wrong to continue to sully this man’s name and reputation to garner newspaper ratings. I asked that they (as well as, the writer of the story) make the story right.

Hey Terri, one more question.
How did you get your video to post inside your Cloud Letter? What icon did you click. This is where I get frustrated with so much that’s still written in Korean.

Hi, BiAlamode.
Just got your message as I just got home from work. Hm. Let me look…
When you click on the “Write” button the compose page opens and on the top left, right below the word “Title” there are two buttons. The first one has a little “image” icon. The second link, on the right says, “외부컨텐츠,” which means “external content.” Click on that and you’ll be given the choice to either add an “embed” code or to link to a URL. I always “embed” the YouTube videos, though, because linking to the pages never seems to work right.

Hi, Lotus.
Are you talking about the little envelope at the top left of the page? That is your “message” or “mailbox” and a 1 means that you have 1 message in it. That may be a message from The Cloud Executuve sent to all of the Cloud members right before Rain’s release from the military. Do you see a date on the message?
If so, she was just giving the particulars of the release day. If I’m recalling correctly.
Or is it a current message?

I think that if you’ve already read the message, your mailbox should have a “0” on it, and when you click on the envelope it will open up to your page where the messages are stored. What date is on the message that is in Korean? The date will be on the far right. The date on the Korean message in my box is 7/8/2013.

The information should not have been circulated period as we were asked NOT to do! Damn!
However, with recent events it’s for the best. Bi doesn’t need to be in the public caught in the middle of the “_hit storm” the media has continued to try and make him the cause of.

I really dislike copy cats. Everybody is trying to have eyes like Rain–now that’s priceless!! Didn’t Rain say that he lost some acting roles because with his eyes he did not fit the role. Well, HELLO! His eyes are simply alluring and sexy and make you want to get lost in them–no make up necessary. I’d tell those copy cats to take a picture of Rain’s eyes and weep!

People are trying to make their eyes smaller like Rain’s? I hadn’t heard that. I know that many Korean celebrities have had cosmetic surgery, but most have tried to make their eyes larger for a more Western appeal.
From what I can remember, Rain has said that in his early days during the auditioning phase of his career he was told that he was unattractive and his eyes were too small. I haven’t heard of anything else regarding his eyes as of late. We Clouds here think he’s naturally gorgeous just as he is and I think he’s read it enough times from all of us to believe it by now. So I don’t think he will do anything to mar his beautiful self.
The video below was just something fun and interesting to post, since several Clouds here watch Anime. It didn’t have anything to do with Rain. I like to post other things of interest from time to time. I think the young lady below is quite good at creating the “illusion” of anime eyes actually. I know I couldn’t do it.

Well for better or worse I just sent an email to CNN. I could not find a direct email for Frances Cha. I went to the CNN “Contact Us” page, I scrolled down to CNN International and click on “General Comments.” I then left the following for Ms. Cha:
“This comment is for Ms. Frances Cha writer of the article entitled, “Scandals Prompt South Koreans to Dissolve Celebrity Soldier Unit.” I am sending the email because I take issue with Ms. Cha’s completely biased slant at making S. Korean entertainer Rain the “poster boy” for the recent military scandals that have rocked the military. I feel Ms. Cha didn’t research her facts fully. She should refer to the following articles credited to Stephe Thornton of Cloud USA. They are well reasoned and researched articles. Please refer to them. They are as follows: (*I put links to 5 of your articles regarding this subject*).
I concluded with: Ms. Cha I hope after thoroughly reading these articles you will conclude that you were hasty in making Rain the “bad boy” image for your article. He has been unfairly portrayed as far as I’m concerned and I would hope you would consider amending your article. Thank you.”

Frances Cha wrote the article at CNN. What I’m trying to do is find an email addy for her so that I can email a comment directly to her along with the link to your article Stephe. For those of you who tweet and are on twitter she has a twitter account (Frances Cha @lumintree). Her lead in tweet right now is a link and its entitled “K-Pop and Military Scandals. So you tweeting Clouds get to work and flood her twitter. Make her retract that damned story. I know black folks got on twitter and stopped Juror 37 from getting a book deal off of Trayvon Martin’s death trial by flooding the twitter of miss thing’s literary agent. So it can be done.
Miss Cha obviously writes for the travel side of CNN. Again, I am looking for a direct email. I don’t want to comment among some of the idiot commenters below her VERY SLANTED, BIASED ANTI-Rain article. I want to talk to girlfriend directly.

I certainly do hope Clouds can take the time to do this today. Her article really irritated me this morning when I read it, but I had to get to work and couldn’t take the time to complain.
All I can say is they must let anyone work as a reporter at CNN these days, because none of their stories appear to be written by what I would call respectable journalists. And by that I mean journalists who do more than read a few online newspapers to research their stories.
Sigh.

You know it seems it doesn’t matter what country we’re talking about anymore. Journalistic integrity has gone by way of the dinosaur. Case in point, the article at the link below. If you have FB or Dramafever, you’ve probably seen this already but for those who haven’t here is another piss poor, half-witted article that could hardly be counted among those that have been fully researched. This article CLEARLY doesn’t account for a whole HOST of people. They have THE nerve to call people “low-brow”…..Really?? Oh btw, the article comes from the “geniuses” at The Wall Street Journal.

P.S. In the article’s defense, the writer wasn’t saying that Korean dramas were for the “low brow”, s/he was reporting the finds of a study. My thing is why is stuff like this, which will obviously hurt people when it’s posted, not started off with a disclaimer, written in a better tone, or better yet, not be put up at all.
