SONG OF THE WEEK:”A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by FanClub, well before JiHoon would become known as 비. Our teenaged baby boy was a tall drink of water with a man’s voice even back then, and was cuter than the dickens in this video, along with his FanClub mates. Let’s see, how to sum this up… Captain of the ship rents his boat out to a bunch of girls, which immediately activates his boy crew’s wolf hormones, and mutiny ensues from there. Captain spends all day trying to restore order between the teens, with engine trouble and all manner of circumstances, but boys and girls end up pairing up and finding love anyway. C’est la vie. Hehe!

Loved watching this, so young and so talented. I recently purchased the First Live Concert RainyDay from 2005. I heard a song for the first time . Its called Not Used To and Rain’s performance is very emotional it was hard for me to keep it together too. I really love this song. This dvd does not have subtitles. I believe once he pulled himself together he talked to the audience about the song. Do you know of which song I am referring to and would love to know more about it.

Hi, Maria. The song is Can’t Get Used To It (Unfamiliar/Iksukchjil Anhaso/익숙치 않아서), and it was so hard for him to sing because he would dedicate it to his mom in concert because he still wasn’t used to being without her. (She never got to see his success.) Many fans refer to it as his mom’s song (though the lyrics are about breaking up). Eventually he stopped singing it, after RAINY DAY. It was just too hard, I guess.
Honestly, though it’s one of my favorites, I haven’t been able to listen to it since my mom died last year. But one day…

If I remember correctly, the fans were pleading,” Don’t cry!”, and he was saying something to the effect of, “Sorry but this song really touches me, wow, I’ve really got to get myself together here. I’m letting myself get waaaaay too emotional, good grief. Don’t worry about me, I’m okay” and cheered himself up and moved on. 🙂
