Subject: Immediate Support across the miles for ROK Army Corporal Jung JiHoon

NOTICE: The information contained in this project is of a time-sensitive nature. Swift action is required. Please place high on your priority scale.

EXPLANATION: For many centuries, the yellow ribbon has been a symbol of hope, resolve, and undying support for loved ones, for defenders, and for various causes all across the world. Even today, from Australia to Asia to Europe and all the way to the States, people, organizations, and even governments are steadfast in their use of this recognizable image, as well as the color yellow.

» Cloud USA’s page on Twibbon: A Yellow Ribbon for Rain.

“Around her head, she wore a yellow ribbon… she wore it for a soldier who was far, far away…”

ACTION REQUIRED: 31 days of Yellow Ribbons to Corporal Jung JiHoon.

Obtain simple, inexpensive yellow ribbon from your nearest craft store or source. Tie 31 Yellow Ribbons and inscribe with your name and location (it took me about 15 minutes to do all of them). Mail 1 Yellow Ribbon ONLY each day directly to Rain himself at his current military address. Postage should not be any more than usual for an ordinary letter going to South Korea (ask your local postmaster). {*Edited to add per Terri: It costs $1.05 to send an International Airmail letter that weighs less than 1 ounce to South Korea. Here is a good reference site: http://www.nerdylorrin.net/jerry/postages/index.html :-} )

Rain already understands the concept of the yellow ribbon from the U.S. military’s prospective, the proof of that being several of his closest friends wore the Yellow Ribbon For Rain on their Twitters in support of him when the Brigade first started. A literal rain shower of Yellow Ribbons is a definite message to him that his ongoing vilification by the Media and his countrymen has had no effect on your support, and that you will still be proudly waiting for him come July 10, 2013. The message will be so clear that words aren’t needed. When he picks one up, he’ll know where it came from and he’ll know that you’re with him.

Make it rain for a month on Rain.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION:

Mail 1 postcard from your area with a yellow ribbon drawn or printed on it, for 31 days. OR

Print your own homemade Yellow Ribbon postcard on card stock and mail 1 each day for 31 days.

(Some examples/ideas by Cloud USA Activities Director Dot.)

Thank you in advance for your support.

PLEASE send love and support to ALL of the men and women who are proudly serving in armed forces in every corner of the globe, protecting innocent civilians with their lives.

  1. JJH should be getting our Ribbons by no if not soon, Damn I wish we had that Cloud flycamera floated around filming him so we could see his reactions when things like this arrive from his fans.

    • I know, Dot.

I’ve been sending one per day for the entire month, as have many people. It would at least be nice to see him in a photo surrounded by yellow ribbons, wouldn’t it? I know other stars have done interviews and shown fan mail they have received. Maybe at some point, he will be allowed to do the same.

If not, maybe when he gets out he will show some of them off somehow.

  2. Okay, so if I could put an image in the comments, I could show you my pathetic bows that took me so long to tie. I did manage to post them on the forum though, along with all of the other pics we have received.

If you want to take a look, that forum thread is here: http://cloudusa.lefora.com/2013/01/14/infocloud-usa-operation-tie-a-yellow-ribbon/#post7

I sure do hope ya’ll are sending Rain your ribbons. And thank you.

  6. My first yellow ribbon is in the mail! The rest are ready to go. I do believe that somewhere in my lineage I am related to Terri as I don’t have the craft gene either. It would have truly been a Youtube moment watching me try to tie those ribbons with what seemed like ten thumbs. LOL!! I had to search for a ball point pen, too. Geez… I typed address labels, well typed one and copied it, of JJH’s address, because if I didn’t after about 5 of those no one would have been able to read it, including me.
I would love to see his face when he gets all of these yellow ribbons.

  7. Terri / Stephe any idea how many Clouds are participating? Do you know if any of the international Clouds are taking part?

    Like

    • I’ve no idea how many, but I’ve seen a lot of excitement about it here and there. I know the Turkish Clouds are doing it, and some of the Japanese Clouds too. And the Hawaiian Clouds (although they are a part of the U.S., their cloudship is a major faction unto itself). I hope there are more. That would be cool.

    • Just send one to him every day for 31 days, Kongsao. They will all get there at different times, but hopefully, at some point, they will start being delivered to him at a steady pace. The impact, of course will last about 31 days.

Stephe just chose the number 31, because there are 31 days in January, which was the month in which Rain’s persecution began.

      P.S. Good LORD, someone please remind me not to ever go the main post office in Atlanta on a Saturday afternoon again. Ji-Hoon, you’d better damned enjoy these ribbons. The line was out the door and it took almost my entire lunch break. O_o. On a positive note, I did drive past Hartsfield International Airport’s International Terminal’s entrance on my way to and from the joint. The International Terminal is right down the street from where I work. Ya’ll think I could get Ji-Hoon to drop by my office building and say hey on one of his stops in or out of Atlanta? It’s a real secure facility. All he has to do is come to the gate, call security and ask for me. I’ll let him in. I swear. :-}

    • lluvia,

I’m about to head over to the post office to buy my stamps during my lunch break here. Later today, I’m going to the hobby shop to buy my ribbon. I’ve already got tons of envelopes.

What I’m going to do is find out how much a first class letter will cost to send to Korea, buy enough stamps to cover the cost of sending 31 days’ worth of letters, and then just put one in my mailbox every day, for my mail carrier to pick up.

          • Yea the Post Office is hurting for money. I have not bought stamps in a long time. $1.05 x 31= $32.55 and that’s the most money the post office has gotten out of me in awhile. The Post Office is doing good from me lately. I mailed Rain’s Christmas gift at the Post Office and that’s the first time I’ve mailed anything from the Post Office in a VERY long time. And now they are getting $32+ from me. LOL at Rain being good business for the Post Office.

  21. I will probably do the ribbons. Pretty cool idea ladies!

I’m ok with it, after all we have already sent our names directly to the Korean military previously regarding that petition sent on his behalf. However, I don’t think they want to get “crunk” with Rain fans who are only showing support en masse. Besides, we’ve all been told growing up…..”there’s safety in numbers.” I’m inclined to believe that age old rule may just apply in this instance as well.

Dear Stephe, sending the ribbons is a wonderful idea and to support all men and women in the force specially to Rain at this difficult time, but I do concern about the more influences and actions may cause him more stress that the army may gives to him indirectly ? after all the defense department is pretty conservative and he is a celebrity, a very famous one too. We have to put ourselves in his shoes. I think. But again, no matter what decision Cloud make that I will always supported.

    Like

    • Hi, Renn. I understand and appreciate your concerns.

This is just like JiHoon receiving an ordinary letter in the mail, which he already does get in great abundance daily. It won’t suggest any type of aggression at all. It will look like, and BE, just ordinary mail.

      Stephe ^@@^

      Like

    • Actually, we really NEED to do this project. Not just for JiHoon, but for other soldiers in the PR Division. There is something terribly wrong with that division. They make these soldiers perform for them like trained monkeys and they don’t just do that where the public eye can see. They have to attend many private functions as well. And on top of that, they are expected to complete all of their military training as well.

After reading some of the translated news articles over on The Cloud in the Rain News section (please go over and do that), I have no doubt in my mind that Ji-Hoon was coerced into joining the PR Division because of his fame. In other words, they were bound and determined to exploit him because of his fame. He always said, before he went in, that he was looking forward to serving as a regular soldier. I think he meant it. He knew what the PR Division was like and what his life would be like there. His good friend, Psy, who had to serve TWICE, would have told him that. So, I just don’t believe he would have “volunteered” to be exploited like that.

Rain is strong. He is the first person to do things and he loves to change the world. Do you really believe that if the Power of his Clouds could change the face of the PR Division and make it stop exploiting soldiers, that he wouldn’t take any punishment they could dish out and be delighted? I think he would be ecstatic.

When The Cloud asked us to add our names to a petition when he first went in because they were exploiting him so much that his health was failing, we worried about that too and we were directly told, “He is well aware of the consequences and he doesn’t CARE. Please HURRY.” Does that sound like a soldier that would be worried that a flood of yellow ribbons would make him have to scrub more toilets? I don’t think so.

The PR Division is going to do what they want to do, regardless of what we do. However, because of the public outcry in Korea got to them, we now know that they can be vulnerable to those kinds of tactics. That is a good thing and I think it is time for Rain’s fans to stand up and create a public outcry of their own. In fact, ALL fanbases of Korean soldiers in the PR Division need to stand up and show DEMA that we aren’t going to sit back and take their crap anymore–not just because we don’t want Rain to suffer, but because we don’t want ANY entertainment soldier to suffer. It’s just not RIGHT.

Watching his Clouds tangibly support him is something that I really think Ji-Hoon needs at this time. I think it will help him keep his chin up and take whatever they can dish out with a smile. And when it comes down to it, that’s all that really matters.

      Terri :-}

      • Yes, he was, “convinced.” He wouldn’t have gone through the hell of the hardest Infantry boot camp in the military, within a stone’s throw of the Demilitarized Zone and the North Koreans, no less, and earned himself a coveted spot as an ATO still at the DMZ for five months, unless he’d intended to be a regular soldier the whole time the way he claimed.

But no way were they going to let the world star get away. They were happily telling the Media about their entertainment plans for him almost a year before he even went in.

        Stephe ^@@^
