{Lee Sang Chul} : Loyalty! This is private {Lee Sang Chul}. I think I’m speaking at the mike for the first time since my enlistment. (laughs)

{Depending on Romanization, there are several variations of this name out there that belong to different celebrities, including a director, a pro athlete, and a singer from the legendary rock group Boohwal. This particular artist, rapper, and new private is known on stage as Sangchu, and along with his partner Shorry J, makes up the popular Korean hip hop duo Mighty Mouth. Shorry J has already done his service, but Sangchu is 30 now and had to go on and get it done. He enlisted at the end of this past October, along with SuJu’s LeeTeuk. – S. ^@@^

[Rain] ; What is your impression of the show?

{Lee Sang Chul} : I’m gratified by your invitation, and I think I can do a far better job of hosting it than anyone.

[Rain] : We go back a long way, {Lee Sang Chul} and I.

{Lee Sang Chul} : I think we must be close friends. (laughs)

[Rain] : I don’t think {it would happen} (laughs) but I wish {Lee Sang Chul} could replace KCM in hosting the show. (laughs) {Yeah, sure. If Playa looked for one second like he was really going to leave, you’d be blocking the door and begging him to stay. So just hush. LOL! 😛 – S. ^@@^}

[Rain] : Please tell me about how the military image appears to you.

{Lee Sang Chul} : I thought serving in the army was easy before my enlistment, but the work in the army is harder than I thought.

[Rain] : Whom did you miss most when you were a recruit?

{Lee Sang Chul} : I missed my parents and my partner ‘Shorry’ most.

[Rain] : There are many stereotypes about the soldiers that enjoy eating ‘Choco pie’, go {on}  about girl groups, are crazy about football game, have light {quick} hands so they fix and make everything in about two hours, etc.

{Lee Sang Chul} : I do not differ much from them. (laughs)

[Rain] : What did you do at a welcoming ceremony when you came here first? I sang the whole of ‘Love Song’ at the ceremony. (laughs) I heard actor ‘Lee Dong Gun’ sang ‘I Am In You’ more than 300,000 times, and ‘Park Hyo Shin’ sang more than 15 songs at the ceremony. (laughs)

{Lee Sang Chul} : Even though I cracked a gag (no one under 19 admitted) which wasn’t funny at all, thankfully my senior soldiers burst out laughing at my humor. I think my seniors care for me very much.

[Rain] : Who do you think is too strict with you? And who do you think has a reputation of treating his juniors well?

{Lee Sang Chul} : Pfc ‘Lee Ji Hoon’ seems to be strict with me, and it is you (Rain) who are always nice to me without constraint. You even gave a nice hair cut to me last time. (laughs)

[Rain] : Who do you want to be successor to you?

{Lee Sang Chul} : I hope singer Seven gets here soon. (laughs) {Oh yeah… Se7en hasn’t been in yet…! – S. ^@@^}

[Rain] : If Seven joins the army, I think he can carry out all the obligations he has undertaken.

{Lee Sang Chul} : I’ve been on friendly terms with ‘Lee Teuk’ (Park Jung Su), etc. including Seven. I was so happy when I was chosen for the military PR team working here. It looks like I did the right thing by coming here.

[Rain] : I was unfamiliar with this work at first, but I have adapted much more since then. ‘Kim Mu Yeol’, one of my close friends, ‘Kim Min Su’, {Lee Sang Chul}, and ‘Lee Teuk’ have been transferred here, and ‘Kim Mu Yeol’ and ‘Lee Teuk’ of the four are being dispatched to the scene where a military musical performance is being rehearsed. Especially, ‘Kim Mu Yeol’ has been my best friend since high school. {Glad to hear this. With Mithra Jin, PHS, Yu Geon, and all your other pals having been discharged lately, we don’t want you and KCM all lonely in DEMA… 🙂 S. ^@@^}

[Rain] ; In the middle of winter in 2004, after drama ‘Full House’ starring me, singer and actor ‘Yun Gye Sang’ and I…

{Lee Sang Chul} : I think it’s useless stuff. (laughs)

[Rain] : By the way, why {do you keep} interrupting me when I’m talking? (laughs)

{Lee Sang Chul} : Sorry. I meant it for a joke. (laughs)

[Rain] : Everyone, please don’t get me wrong. I was just kidding. (laughs)

[Rain] : Anyway, I hear that girl groups’ members you’ve known for a very long time, have been completely out of touch with you since your enlistment. (laughs)

{Lee Sang Chul} : I think I failed because I had tried to place a collect call to them several times. (laughs)

[Rain] : You are known about having many acquaintances in the entertainment world. You can invite many girl groups’ members to this show if you host this in future. That way, this show will win popular acclaim and high ratings. {Just tell him who you want to meet, Hoonie, and stop beating around the bush. LOL! – S. ^@@^}

[Rain] : Have you cried in the army?

{Lee Sang Chul} : I cried reading the letter my mother wrote me when I was a recruit.

[Rain] : In his letter to me when I was a recruit, my father urged me to face up to my difficulties manfully and not to lose my temper (laughs), and he added, ‘Seeing my son’s joining in the army at age thirty, breaks my heart.’ (laughs)  I have to admit that I was a little disappointed because he wrote to me by typing, not by handwriting. (laughs) My sister must have written to me on behalf of him because he was too lazy to handwrite. (laughs)

[Rain] : I hear it’s harder for you to use honorific language to your seniors in the army.

{Lee Sang Chul} : One of the reasons seems to be because they were my co-workers in the same {field} before my enlistment.

[Rain] : But it is natural soldiers should act in obedience to the orders of their commanders by using honorific language to them.

{Lee Sang Chul} : I agree wholeheartedly.

[Rain] : You should {have} joined the army earlier. (laughs)

[Rain] : I didn’t understand how singer ‘Yun Gye Sang’ stood {it} when he was enlisted in winter 2004 when my drama ended, but now {that} I’m in his bearings I can’t say that. Serving in the army seems to be the ideal experience for me, as it provides me with a chance to reflect on myself.

{Lee Sang Chul} : My enlistment has led me to be grateful for what I have and grateful for the very simple things.

[Rain] : How do you feel about that you’ve been invited to the radio show for the first time since your enlistment?

{Lee Sang Chul} : It reminds me of the past when I was an entertainer (gagman). (laughs)

[Rain] : Thank you for coming in today, but there’s something you can do due to ‘Lee Ji Hoon’s absence.

{Lee Sang Chul} : Is there anything else you need me to do today?

[Rain] : Please stop interrupting me while I’m talking. (laughs) Well, say what you want to say. (laughs)

[Rain] : Listener ‘Sun Ae’, “My students took their final exams this week. Some of them seemed to do poorly on their final. I know it isn’t much solace, but several people did worse in the exam than you. Study harder in future.”

[Lee Jin Ho] : Listener ‘A’, “My girlfriend and I went to an amusement park. She kept urging me to be on a ride there, but I decided I was too afraid to be on it from that height. She teased me much of the time, but there was a limit in befooling me. Finally, we had an argument and parted company.” (laughs)

{Lee Sang Chul} : Listener ‘B’, “I’m on a diet, but how could every member of my family be out to eat delicious food leaving me alone?” (laughs)

[Rain] : Today’s topic is, “a time you quarreled with your lover or family or friend over a trivial matter.”

[Lee Jin Ho] : Seeing him speaking in that tone of voice, I think {Lee Sang Chul} has so far failed to make the adjustment from society to military. (laughs)

{Lee Sang Chul} : I don’t think so. (laughs) I think I’m going on to be an influential person. (laughs) {You’re already pretty influential. You’re a rapper! S. ^@@^}

[Lee Jin Ho] : My elder brother and I used to fight each other over the ice cream when I was a child. (laughs)

{Lee Sang Chul} : My classmate robbed me of the bread when I was a high school senior. (laughs)

[Rain] : I’m annoyed that some people including KCM keep asking me to give him just a small portion of my food allotted to me. (laughs) {For the love of God, do not make a move toward JiHoon’s food or you will draw back a nub! You will get hurt! LOL 😛 – S. ^@@^}

[Lee Jin Ho] : Listener ‘Kim Kyung Howa’, “I was hitting it off well with my boyfriend, but he blew his cool at me when I put hot fried egg into his mouth. I didn’t do it intentionally though. We quarreled with each other and split up.” (laughs)

[Rain] : Listener ‘Movie, “When I wore my sister’s trench coat without her permission, she got upset and urged me to take it off immediately. She is so cheap and nasty. I’ll never ask her for another favor.” (laughs)

[Lee Jin Ho] : It was clothes that my brother and I fought for when I was a child.

{Lee Sang Chul} : In my younger days, I was so pissed off because I couldn’t find my new sneakers. I found out later that my elder brother wore the sneakers without my permission and they even got dirty. I hit the roof.” (laughs)

{Lee Sang Chul} : Listener ‘HiromiraimyK’, “I was cooking delicious foods for my husband in the kitchen, but my husband came home and blew his cool at me, saying ‘It’s a crying shame to waste all that food’. His unkind words injured my pride.”

[Lee Jin Ho] : Listener ‘Kim Deok Ja’, “I have a countrified name, so I didn’t give my boyfriend my real name. Finally I was caught lying and he flew into a rage.”

[Rain] : Listener ‘Yun Eun Hye’, “I went on a picnic at the seaside with my boyfriend. When I tripped over a rock and sprained my ankle, he started teasing me without consoling me. I broke forth with anger.”

[Lee Jin Ho] : I’m thinking of giving up my vacation in order to finish my work.

{Lee Sang Chul} : There are no specific plans at the current time.
