  1. ***************** SPOILER ALERT **************

Oh my goodness. I am getting HOOKED on these dramas, it’s ridiculous! “King 2 Hearts”…..OMG! On Ep. 12….that “John Mayer” is a serious nut case.

You’re right Terri, much of the happenings between North and South Korea would SO not be happening but it makes for such an intriguing story. Can’t wait to see how this one ends too. I have been watching this one all afternoon. So that’s 3 dramas I’m watching at once yet again.

    I need help!………..*SMILES*

    • LMAO!!! I’m telling you, John Mayer is a crazy psyco!! The man don’t know how to stop and the woman with him is even worst!! This gentleman and his woman scared the sh… out of me to the point that I got to stop watching the drama to take a breather!! This actor is also the evil second son in Midas were he did an amazing job too!! His battle to be the heir of his father empire with the brilliant but out of wedlock daughter of the second wife was epic!! I fell in love with Lee Seung Gi in this drama cuz the situations he went thru were horrible!! The man cried in almost all episodes and you know that I cried with him!! His chemistry with the girl was awesome too, you can feel the passion and the love they feel for each other. I loved this couple!! 😀

      • Posted some videos in the No Min Wo thread, as a bonus there’s some crazy rocker YooChun too! Lol!! Watch them!! 😀

The guy who plays John Mayer is so beyond psycho! I mean this guy has that “scary, but I’m really just gentle and misunderstood” thing down pat. *Ooo…getting goosebumps*

This guy needs to be in some U.S. movies too, like for real.

OMG!!!! Episode 19…….kick me in the gut! Eun Shi Kyung….oh, my heart is breaking!! Goodness knows it takes a LOT to make me cry, but this one got me. What got to me is that he was so upright, to the very end and I to die like that didn’t surprise me but “Pained me.”

Kim Bong Gu that “rat b___strd” he needs to be put down. I hate him just like I did that Prince in Faith. People like him need to “be gone” like dust in the wind.

        • You know it’s also funny to watch dramas from other countries and see how they portray your country. In some ways it’s funny and in other ways it’s like….”dang, are we really like that?”

I’ve also had to “suspend” how American dialect is spoken in these dramas too. Sometimes it’s like nails to a chalkboard, but I do get that I’m not the primary audience.

          *Just an observation*

Yes, the americans were gutsy, full of pride and ruthless but they’re military men so to me it was ok. I like that at the end of the competition, they gain respect for each other. 😀

    • Yesss I’m so excited and happy for YooChun!! He’s doing an excellent job!! In fact, all actors in this drama are doing an amazing job! Child actors were so good, everybody is missing them and making comparisons between the intensity of their characterizations and their adults fellow actors. I think that’s not fair, we’ve only seeing two episodes with adults! Episode 6 was really good, I’m loving Yoo Seung Ho as well, he’s a great actor and I can’t wait to see him and YooChun clashing for the lovely Eun Hye! 😀

      Like

    • I agree. This drama is going very well. I have to admit, though I did miss the kids at first. It didn’t help that they are two of my favorite “child” actors, and that I’ve been following both of their careers since they were very small. I really love the way Korea uses the past and then flashes forward in a lot of their dramas, but it does have a way of making you nostalgic for the kids when they leave the screen. Sigh.

But I’m doing my best not to let it color my impression of the adult performers, which isn’t hard because they are also two of my favorites. So, I’m enjoying this drama very much. So tragic, though. All that crying! Sigh.

      Terri :-}

      • @Mari and Terri,

But that’s just how good the kids actors are. They really are the ones who “set up” the rest of the story for the adult actors and made you “believe in” their story. Just like they way Lee Joon made us believe in Raizo’s tragic childhood and his drive as an adult to kill ninjas.

This is the same kind of talent these young actors have. I think Korea does a great job in developing these K-Pop artists as well to be well-rounded in the entertainment industry. Singers like Micky and Min Woo (and Bi of course) are Really Good actors too. Singing or acting, either could be their career choice.

        Like

      • Oh and yes I agree with you Terri. Sometimes I’m like….geez the crying must really be a drain. What must you “tap into” emotionally take after take to bring forth the tears so frequently. Glad it’s not me. They would have to put onions underneath my eyes after so many takes. LOL!!

        Like

        • Yes, for Eun Hye and Yoo Chun it must be really tiring to do those crying scenes. Eun Hye’s nervous breakdown was an awesome scene as well as the one were Yoo Chun is in the shower. They did those scenes with all their hearts and of course, I ended crying too! Lol!! The emotional baggage these actors have to deal with in this drama is huge, I can’t even imagine how hard it must be to find the right way to make it believable. On the other hand, I think is amazing to watch this dramas and find that, from the little ones to the elder actors, ALL OF THEM, are superb in their acting skills! It makes every drama interesting to watch. 😀

A man with fingernails like a woman (minute marker *0:37*)….no can do…Sorry. I can’t do the “man with nails” thing. Didn’t like that look at all. However, all the other looks WOW, especially minute markers *0:1* and *2:46*…..these were my absolute favorites.

Oh BTW, at *0:47* he looks like a much prettier version of Chrissy Hynde of The Pretenders.

        • Yeah the long nails was a bit to much for me too!! Lol!! But as you can see, his career in music is long, he just started as an actor really but he’s good at that too! Just so you know, No Min Woo and TVXQ have a connection, he played the drums in Trax and this rock group made a collaboration with TVXQ in the song Triangle. Watch these videos, they’re crazy!! The first is the video and the second a live performance. No Min Woo appears at minute marker 3:48 in the first and 2:47 in the second. The song is a post-apocalypsis reflection. Awesome! Luv the outfits!!

I like Song Joong Ki, but he’s not Bi so I won’t be driving 4 hours to see this movie. I guess I’ll have to wait for it to come to DVD.

That huge house was Jun Pyo’s house in BOF, it was the palace in My Princess and now I see it in King 2 Hearts. I also realized when the prince and his little brother were young, the little boy that plays the younger brother is “little Jun Pyo” in BOFs. He’s just a little older now. These kids go from drama to drama too, but you get to see them grow up as well.

        • I liked King 2 Hearts too, although I really had to suspend my disbelief with the main theme. That took a minute. LOL.

Oh yes! I love the way we get to see these child actors growing and maturing into awesomeness. One boy I’m following right now is Yeo Jin-Ku. I saw him first in Giant (as young Lee Kang-Mo) and then had to go back and watch him in other things, like “Warrior Baek Dong Soo” and “Il Ji-Mae: The Phantom Thief.” He is currently starring in “I Miss You,” as young Han Jung-Woo.

What a awesome actor that kid is.

Yeah, I thought it was a stretch with the North and the South coming together like that and with a female officer leading the way. Oh well, you do have to let that go just to get into the story. I’ll keep watching though.

    • BiA,

Isn’t Full House 2 good? I am watching it too and I was pleasantly surprised. But I don’t get it. On some websites they describe this drama as Full House Take 2, which I think is a much better description that just Full House 2, which makes it sound like a remake. It’s not a remake at all. Instead, it’s sort of a Full House “Reimagined,” which makes it fun trying to figure out which characters are which. And it’s fun seeing how the different subplots play out.

I wish that Dramafever had understood that and named it correctly. Then maybe more people would be watching it. Because it is a pretty good little drama.

Exactly, that’s what I said to Mari in an earlier comment. It’s not a remake but a re-telling (if you will) of Full House. I am surprised that I like it too. I was prepared to Hate it, because nobody can top Bi…BUT I have reconsidered and given it a chance.

The love triangle is there between the three main characters, the selfish ex-girlfriend is there, the persnickety pretty boy entertainer is there, the nuisance best friend is there. All the same elements are there, the only real difference is that Full House belongs/belonged to the rich entertainer instead of the working class girl.

The young actress who plays Man Ok is a pretty girl but, I Hate the “Dippity-do” curls. Why must these dramas have the Dippity-do curls? *SMILES*………I hope she gets a make over before the drama ends. So far, I really, really like it. I do.

          • Yey I’m happy you like it!! 😀 This is a lite, funny little drama, I’m watching cuz is No Min Woo’s first lead. I luv him, he’s really talented. Do you like him so far? His character in this drama is “delicate” cuz he was a sick, only child, pampered by his parents but in My girlfriend is a Gumiho and Midas his characters were sexy, manly and misterious men. I like his comedy skills in this one, I was surprised with this side of him. I don’t like the hair either, oh man, What they were thinking? This man has georgeous black hair!! It was killed with those curls for this drama! I like it straight, it looks a lot better. The girl looks awful too, she’s not really pretty but with that hair she looks like Annie!! Lol!! No Min Woo’s body is lean and tall but he’s skinnier cuz for Midas, his character was sick and he stayed in the same weight, he gained some muscle though cuz he looks skinny but with definition. I read that he eats a lot but can’t gain enough weight. I like the OST of the drama, he sings some of the songs and they’re beautiful. Here is a video of my favorite song of Midas, he played the piano in it. Sighhh luv it! 😀

  5. Nice Guy Spoilers* Nice Guy Spoilers*

I have to say that the ending of Nice Guy was really nice! Lol!! I was expecting a tragic ending but it was ok considering all Kang Ma Ru went thru!! Song Joong Ki was amazing in this drama, the scene were he said to Han Jae Hee that he was sorry for being in jail for her cuz that was the reason she became a monster, wow!! that scene was really well done. He made me cry with that one! I never thought that Han Jae Hee and the lawyer were brave enough to go to jail but they did. At one point I thought that the lawyer was going to kill himself but instead he tried to kill Eun Gi!! Then Kang Ma Ru saved her and I thought he was going to die. At least their relationship had a somewhat happy ending cuz they got the chance to start over. The author made me go thru some scary moments with Kang Ma Ru, gosh, cuz he didn’t show up until later and I kept saying “It’s impossible that Ma Ru is the only one without a happy ending damn it!!” Thank God he made it and got the girl! Lol!!

You know Mari, if this is the writer Terri was talking about that wrote Sang Doo Let’s Go To School, then the ending with Maru is “double-sided” just like Sang Doo’s ending.

On the surface, it “looks like” the tragic character(s) had a happy ending but on the other hand the tragic character probably actually dies in the end and the author takes you on a mini journey of “what could’ve been” afterwards.

*COMMENT UPDATE* *COMMENT UPDATE* *COMMENT UPDATE*

I just went back and re-watched the very ending again….the “happy ending” part. I think I have a new perspective. He tells the little girl he lost his ability to recognize people from his past, yet he gives Seo Eun Gi their engagement rings at the very end indicating that he does recognize her. So he never lost his memories, just pretended, just wanted to start over fresh. He did ask her to run away to a place where nobody knew who they were. Also, the little girl has his last name “Kang” is there something to that? There are so many layers to this ending and so many ways to look at it. It could also be as I really suspect that he really did die in that city park and the “happy ending” we see is the writer’s version of what “could’ve been.” Aah, I just don’t know.

      • BiA,

As far as I’m concerned the ending of Nice Guy was a happy one–and quite a departure for Lee Hyung Kee, I thought.

I think your second interpretation is the most accurate one. I don’t think he lost his memories at all. However, he also knew that if they didn’t run away to someplace where no one knew them, that they would be in danger and they would never be able to be together.

            • I always go for happy endings so I choose a really happy ending for Kang Ma Ru! Lol!! As I explained in my comment, I think he didn’t died on the park, at first I thought so but then, if the bad guys got to live, then MaRu should be alive! I got my doubts on the memory part too, did he remember her or not? I think that he didn’t remember at first but eventually he did. Eun Gi waited for seven years, I don’t think he would make her go thru all that time alone on purpose! I think that by the time he saw her pictures of him, then he remembered cuz they let you know that some time has gone by after that. At the end, I think he remembered and that’s why he looked up for the rings and gave them to her. Besides, that smile at the end was soo happy and naughty to let you know that he trully remember at least most of their love story! It was a tricky ending but it was happy so I was thrilled with it. 😀

              Like

              • Yeah, after I went back and looked at the ending again. I came to the realization that he didn’t die in the park either. I also think he remember Seo Eun Gi from the moment he got to the little village. The reason is because the little girl kept “quizzing” him about buying her Unni’s crappy sandwiches, nobody likes them but you. You get them breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also in the part he narrates, he said he would find her and stay outside her place all day and eventually like to date her like normal people would date. So, I think the pretense of not knowing her is all a part of the whole “starting fresh” when it comes to how they meet and get together in his “new life.” I’m also glad to see that he was able to become the doctor that he should have been in the first place. *SMILES*…………………

Moral of the story: Whether you are male or female Do Not, I repeat Do Not LOSE yourself in another person, especially to the point of self destruction. It’s So not worth it. Relationships should not be one-sided in the love department either. That definitely needs to be a two-way street….a healthy two-way street. *SMILES*………………………………

Ok, so I’m now watching Full House 2. I have to say that even though the story seems different on the surface it really is the same. Instead of it being call “Full House 2” it should have been called “Full House 2012” or something like that.

This version is really a “re-telling” of the first story IMO. So many of the same elements are there. (1) the persnickety Entertainer from a well-to-do background (2) The huge house itself of course (3) a scandal that results in the entertainer becoming engaged to female love interest. (4) Scandal affecting the entertainer’s career (5) a contract between the parties involved that keep the female love interest and persnickety entertainer in close proximity to each other.

I don’t know how many episodes there will be but I’m on episode 11. So far, I like it but it doesn’t feel far enough away from the original drama for me to think it’s a Full House 2. It kind of reminds me of the re-telling of The Wizard of Oz that aired on the Sci-Fi channel a couple years ago. It was basically a futuristic update but the story was the same one we’ve all been familiar with since childhood. All the same “elements” were in the updated version. The ruby slippers, the flying monkeys, the tin man, the lion, Toto the dog. How they came together was totally different of course, but you recognized all those familiar things from the original story. That’s what I mean.

This Full House is just a re-telling. It’s good, I like it but I must say I’m still partial to the original for obvious and not so obvious reasons. I just think when something is called a part 2/sequel, then just keep the characters the same (names and all) but give THEM a completely different story and maybe even a completely different house. But don’t give us new characters and shake up the same story like a “tossed salad.” I don’t know sequels are tricky…….JMO.

Even if they didn’t use Bi and his co-star, they could have used the same characters and built a story around their life together. Maybe they could have had a kid or two and made a crazy story around the house again.

I think Full House 2 is worth a “look see” but it’s not Full House 1.

    • At the time I made my comment it was at the beginning of the drama so many elements in common with the first Full House has surface that I didn’t see coming. Sorry for that! True, there’s a common thread but there are also other elements that are new, like for example, the young man that has vision problems and seems to be the second guy the main lady is attracted to. That’s a new character and she’ll probably will feel pity for him so it will be more difficult for the leading man to deal with. Also, in this version she has a grandfather that obviously will bring some trouble into the mix. In this version the leading man, No Min Wo is a musician, Rain was an actor, so there’s the music element too. I don’t know, I’m watching cuz I love No Min Woo, he’s an excellent actor, love his music and is a fun drama to watch so I’m having fun with it! To me the drama don’t come even close to the magnificent work Rain did so there’s no contest! 😀

  10. I have been watching Chuno this week….on Episode 16….what a saga! Very interesting story with some very unexpected plot twists. Jang Hyuk as Lee Dae Gil was truly displaying a wide span of emotions regarding his life’s work and the feelings he had for one of the female slaves of his household. He really looked familiar to me, so I put on my thinking cap and recognized him from Volcano High—-a 2001 film from MTV where the Korean actors were voiced by American rap stars. Andre 3000 from Outkast dubbed his character Kim Kyeong-Su’s lines. This is my 2nd sageuk (first was Sungkyunkwan Scandal) and I enjoy the grandeur/pomp and circumstance that is involved in making the stories fabulous. Chuno’s visuals are breathtaking and the fight scenes are engaging—quite appealing to those of us who are martial arts movie fans. Stephe, you were right about Oh Ji Ho “lookin’ good” with his LONG hair and BIG sword. I guess I’ve become a K-drama addict because I am starting to recognize actors from multiple dramas. Boys Over Flowers and Fugitive: Plan B were well represented. The main villain was an actor from A Gentlemen’s Dignity who wasn’t exactly an honest guy in that drama either….LOL. The main 4 guys in the storyline are definitely eye candy as a more matured and rugged version of flower boys seen in the romantic comedy dramas. BTW, episodes 11 and 12 are tearjerkers…..awwww naw(insert heavy sigh here and pass the tissues please)

    • OMG, I loved Chuno. Holy cow, I cannot even explain it. The setting, the story, the emotional parts pert near killed me. And like you said, the fun thing was that The Fugitive: Plan B was like a Chuno reunion. LOL! There were at least eight actors from that thing running around with JiWoo, if not more.

And don’t get me wrong, Jang Hyuk was amazing as Dae Gil, and towards the end, I had grown to really appreciate the actor who played Wangson, but lemme tell you… when it came to Ohhhhhhhhhhh JiHo and the guy who played General Choi, I was so gone. SO GONE. LOL!

The final episode is perfect. So perfect. *grabbing a hanky* You should really keep those tissues you were passed really close because from epi 11 and 12 on out, you’re going to need them!

That is really interesting about Jang Hyuk and Volcano High. Never knew about that! It would be so cool to find it now…

I finished Chuno this afternoon…….beautiful ending (Ohhhhhhh JiHo with his hair blowing in the wind), but what a tearjerker……*sniffs*. Good storyline and character development—wasn’t expecting it to be so romantic and funny. The distinctions between the upper classes and the slaves having to live such a humiliating life was sometimes difficult to watch. BTW, here is a link to the opening minutes of Volcano High (MTV version) that I spoke about in an earlier post….

I’m loving this drama so much!! Song Jung Ki is killing me!! He’s so handsome and in this drama he’s doing a marvelous job as Kang Ma Ru. I’m loving his wit, the way he’s dealing with the noona, protecting Eun Gi like a lion from her! I liked the scene when Eun Gi makes a mess with the tomato juice and the milk cuz she’s mad at him and Ma Ru told her to hurt him, not herself cuz he needed to see her well before desapearing from her life forever. He broke my heart right there! I want to know what’s she gonna do when Ma Ru collapse in front of her cuz due to the car accident she caused, he has a brain hemorrage that’s waiting to happen at any moment. I know that’s coming soon. The noona is going crazy cuz she knows that she lost Ma Ru to Eun Gi so I know that her ending will not be good. I’m looking foward to the next episodes! 😀

Yes, I’m loving it too. Eun Gi has gotten most of her memories back but not all, so she is only remembering the part where Ma Ru was using her and then tried to kick her to the curb. So, she is keeping him in the dark about regaining her memories. What’s gonna happen (I think) is that Ma Ru’s brain is going to hemorrhage and put him in a coma before he can explain anything and Eun Gi will end up remembering everything but won’t be able to tell him she knows he loves her for real.

Who knows maybe crazy Han Jae Hee might try to do the “Romeo and Juliet” thing and kill him then herself. The ending can go so many ways. I would like it to be a happy one of course, but the characters have been so tragic since the beginning. I don’t see a happy ending either. In a perfect world Ma Ru and Eun Gi would end up together. It may end up being Choco and her Oppa together in the end remembering them all.

I’m feeling a tragedy coming on for sure, and your Choco and Oppa ending sounds like something that could definitely happen. After all, this is writer Lee Kyung Hee we’re talking about of Sangdoo, Let’s Go to School and A Love to Kill fame, right?

          • Yeah, Kang Ma Ru deserves a happy ending but I think he won’t have it. In the last episode, he was talking about how happy he was at that moment so that tells me that the end is gonna be tragic. Jae Hee and her lawyer are gonna end bad, that I know for sure! I think they’re gonna kill each other. I have a feeling that Ma Ru is the father of Jae Hee’s son. I think Eun Gi is gonna end taking care of him and Ma Ru, who probably is gonna end in a coma or crippled. 😦

The leading lady will become their stylist cuz No Min Woo’s character is allergic to many things so he’s always grumpy with clothes and no stylist can take him. • Christine Feehan all the way baby…..the Dark Series is what I love, love. Found her by happenstance a few years ago and fell in love with the way she portrayed vampire love. She even had a vampire/werewolf pairing with a black female character (“Dark Possession” – Manolito de la Cruz and Mary Ann). Manolito and his brothers were vampires based in the Brazilian rain forest. Mary Ann was a counselor who befriended one of the female vampires in an earlier book. She ends up “meeting” Manolito when all the Carpathians “convene” in their native homeland to get to the bottom of a serious vampire threat steeped in dark magic. Manolito “sensed” his soul mate (Mary Ann) and well……he made her his. You know how vampires do. LOL!! It was then her inner werewolf came to fore. She didn’t even know she came from a werewolf bloodline.

I liked her vamps because, she gives a good blend of vampires living up to the age old folklore, BUT somehow as the reader you never lose touch with the vamps’ “humanity” (if that makes sense). She writes in such a way that you empathize with them and don’t hate them. Their not just bloodsuckers to be bloodsuckers. LOL!

I luv that book! My second fave is Dark Desire, were Shea O’Halloran, a surgeon finds Jacques, the long lost brother of the Carpathian king, burried alive in a coffin on The Carpathian Mountains. That book gave me goosebumps I was so afraid to read it but after the first chapter, I loved it! Christine is awesome! 😀

                • Wow, we are SO alike when it comes to certain literature and entertainment….aren’t we?

The first one I read was Dark Legend started with Gabriel locked within the ground in Paris and a construction crew inadvertently unearthed him, he breaks free and immediately feels “hunger” of course. That hunger led him to his soulmate Francesa. He has a twin vampire brother named Lucian. Lucian was actually the one who locked him within the earth. Well, I won’t tell the whole story if you haven’t read that one, but I “fell in love” with how she wrote that story and went in search of her books. It was then I found out she had a Dark “series” of stories and I started reading them one by one. I still have the ones I read at home and I am So going to keep them. LOL!!

Oh yes, my two all time favorites are Dark Magic and Dark Prince. I really love, love the “heat” in Dark Magic but I absolutely love how Christine developed the love between Mikhail and Raven. Aah, now THAT one gives me goosebumps, because Mikhail basically was going to kill himself and then it happened….his soul mate spoke to his mind!!!! I was hooked! Oh, but young Savannah held her own with Gregori. Gregori terrified even the other Carpathians but Savannah “soothed” the savage beast within did she not? *SMILES*…………………

Writers know a good story, when the written word gives you goosebumps. That’s what I aspire to, gotta tell ya.

The actor got to go from the drama early to get eye surgery so that’s why his character was taken out. Also, I almost cried when he told her to stay. Lee Min Ho has such expressive eyes, like Rain, you can see all his emotions thru his eyes and he kills me!! Aghh!! Eun Soo is a great actress too, she killed me when she was crying and telling him that she wanted to stay. I have no idea what’s wrong with Choi Young’s hand but my guess is that he don’t want to kill anymore so that’s why his hand can’t hold the sword. Next week is gonna be intense, that’s for sure!! I can’t wait to see how it ends!

LOL!! Ok, you said it first but I thought the EXACT words last night. KILL that damn Prince!! Somebody PLEASE Kill him!! Never have I wanted a character to die so bad like I do that Prince. *Hahahahaha!*

I hate they had to kill off Dr. Jang. His character was a gentle soul, that Eun Soo needed and relied on. However, you know when they start to kill off main characters the story is coming to its end.

I think Choi Young is going through the same thing his teacher went through. He has killed so much to the point where he doesn’t even know how many he has killed. The sword is becoming too “heavy” and psychologically it’s affecting him. His character wanted to die from the very beginning of the series, so this is just that same mentality coming to a head. Also, I think what may happen is they may die together and live together in the after life.

The reason I say that is because Eun Soo said herself, I could go back to “heaven’s world” and get the antibiotic I need and live but I would “die” inside from missing you or I could stay and die in front of you. Either way, Choi Young would also “die” inside from her being separated from him in “heaven’s world” or if she died before his eyes. Also, they are both from different eras. He would have a helluva time adjusting to the modern age and trying not to kill people on sight and she would always miss her modern conveniences if she stayed. So, this is why I think they will die together. I hope I’m wrong, but this is what I think.

      Like

      • Yep that is a real possibility. But I hope that’s not the end! Lol!! I think she will survive somehow and will stay with him. She already stayed once, is at least the second time she has stayed cuz the first time she left clues to herself in the diary and in the plastic film cover she left under the rock. Also, she’s not afraid of changing history but if Choi Young left, then history will be changed too much cuz he’s a hero so I think he can’t leave. Anyways, we’ll see next week how it ends. Arghhh I can’t wait! 😀

        Like

        • Dang it Mari you’re right Choi can’t leave, that sure would change history. You would think with Eun Soo being there that would change history too, but I guess if she has no modern conveniences then she can’t treat people medically like she would normally. They would die as usual from diseases that would otherwise be treatable in the modern era. So no real changes to lives or the population because of her presence.

It’s driving me crazy too! Well, on to the next episode…………..
