R2B: Return to Base has been showing in North America since August 24, with more dates to come around the world. It has premiered in Vietnam and Thailand; now China, Singapore, and Malaysia are set for October. It opened in Korea back on the 15th. According to AMC, the movie is here in Atlanta through Thursday the 13th. History has been made—be a part of it!

SONG OF THE WEEK: “Me /(Na) 나”, Track 4 on Rain’s debut album n001 (2002). And here is the “Na” music video, the very one that the now defunct AZN Channel on satellite happened to televise that fateful day seven years ago, after an episode of historical K-Drama King Dae JoYoung. I didn’t have the Internet yet, I’d never heard of Rain, never seen Rain, didn’t know there was such a person as Rain. This music video literally changed my life in three and a half minutes. The rest is history.

Ladies I think we’re living really exciting times for kpop!! Today I saw a twit of Psy saying that he will be performing at the Madison Square Garden!!! Also, he’s gonna be doing some work with some people including Usher in the USA for a year. Boy, I hope Rain talks to Psy and get some advise cuz whatever Psy is doing is working pretty fast and effective! If this trend of korean movies and kpop performers continues, Rain have the perfect oportunity to really make an impact like I know he can. So excited!! 😀

well, well well—-it looks like Rain’s success with R2B: Return to Base in America has started a trend, because Lee Byung Hun’s new movie it is being released September 21st in the USA! (“Masquerade” publicly opens in select theaters in the United States beginning September 21, two weeks after its official opening in South Korea. It will be shown in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Seattle, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Toronto, New York, Vancouver and Honolulu.) Perhaps the powers that be in SK are recognizing there are FANS here in the US and plenty of money to be made from foreign showings. Way to go, CJ Entertainment!

Yes, Vicki.
The manager of our theater was very quick to tell us that Masquerade would be there very soon. Can’t wait to see it.
I honestly never thought I’d see the day when I could actually walk into one of my neighborhood AMC Theaters and watch a Korean film. Absolutely never. This is such an awesome trend.
You all go support all of them that you can, please.

The AMC Lawrenceville manager I spoke with said that they’ve had a relationship with CJ for a while, and that Korean films will be slated for their particular theater, as far as this area goes. So glad!
The Masquerade trailer, which played before all the R2B showings, looked AWESOME. Go, ByungHun!

Hey Vicki, glad to see you made it home safe lady. (SMILES) I gotta get that pic uploaded.
Hey did I see Houston on the list for Masquerade…..goodness, gracious, mercy me….Wwwwhhhaat! I’ve got to find out which theater. I will definitely do my best to support it too. (*clap, clap, clap*) Can’t believe we are on the list of cities. Thank You CJ Entertainment!

Good mercy, what is happening. There is a lack of Cloud comment participation over here on the blog now. I only see mine and Mari’s little purple boxes most of time now and a few others. We used to really talk and dialogue with each other (miss those days). Now, not so much anymore. What the hell happened?? Where did everybody go?? I feel like I’m talking to myself sometimes. I get that people are busy, so am I….but………..

BiA,
Yeah. I noticed that too–mostly on the open thread, where discussion used to be pretty rampant. Maybe people are just busy.
That being said, we do have some new Clouds roaming around over here these days. And they do pop up and say something now and again. Maybe they’ll get braver? :-}
But hey, me and Stephe are still here. :-}

*SMILES*……..Terri, I don’t want to seem unappreciative. I know you and Stephe are here holding down the fort….heck you two ARE the fort. (SMILES) The blog/fan sites exist because of you two and I do love chatting with you both. Hey, if people think I’m the only Cloud talking/commenting all the time it’s because I’m just trying to do my Cloud part and participate. As far as becoming brave enough to comment, I do get that the initial fear of “exposure” is there before you make your first comment, but you really do get over it after several “thousand.” (SMILES) Heck, nobody knows who you are really except God and your service provider….you know? That’s only if you want to tell people who you are. Although, some people need to be “exposed” for their dastardly deeds. (SMILES)
I’m a shy one too actually, don’t let my crazy comments fool you….but nobody likes to be the one doing all the talking/commenting all the time. Cause guess what? People will soon start to say “she’s always got something to say”……Sometimes I wanna laugh at other people’s comments or read their long commentary on issues of the day too. Oh well, maybe it’ll get that way again…..one of these days. (SMILES)

BiA,
I didn’t think you were unappreciative at all. I would welcome more participation myself. But alas, experience tells me that it is likely only a few will speak up at a time, and even those loyal participants will come and go as they have time. We do lots more participation behind the scenes in e-mails and Facebook messages and such. So, I tend to think people are just a little bit shy about speaking up. That’s all.
Like Stephe said, though, Clouds. We really won’t bite…unless you want us to. LOL. And unlike many other places, we welcome hearty debate as long as everyone remains respectful and kind to each other. We want Cloud USA to remain a loving and welcoming place for all. That’s the biggest rule. Well, that and for me, please, keep your comments as close to PG-13 as you can. I know, I know. It’s tough. Rain doesn’t help us any on that one. But everybody please do try. LOL.
I think that when Rain is released from the military and starts actively promoting himself and doing new projects, we may see more activity. Just a hunch. :-}

Thanks for being concerned and speaking up on our behalf, BiA. 🙂 I agree with you.
Our numbers here on the media blog have not slacked in the least; they are very consistent, very steady, so there are PLENTY of Rain fans around here, keeping up with our favorite corporal, with new folks peeking in every day. Makes no sense to me why there aren’t at least more clicks on the “Like” button, which takes all of ONE second so that WordPress knows we’re doing a good job and the world actually “sees” support for JiHoon.
*shrug*
I think that by now we’ve proven that we’re not going to bite anybody, LOL (unless they beg for it, of course, hahahaha)… 😛

I think that Terri is right, people will come again when Rain gets out of the military. We’ll just have to hang in here and wait. I’m not going anywhere! I admit my time in the forum is short these days but I always come here to comment. I know my comments are long but I can’t help it! Lol!! Sorry!! 😀

Like you Mari, my time in the forum is shortened these days. I will be posting the last of my fan fic when it’s finished though. However, I find that I can’t add any more commentary to the pics that I’ve seen, even though I LOVE looking at them. Now when some new performance/movie/video pics show up again when he gets out of the military….”I’ll be back.” (SMILES)
I guess I prefer commenting on the blog. I like the dialogue exchange to be honest and your comments are short compared to mine. I can’t help it either! (SMILES)

Yeah, the forum is sort of like a neglected child these days. We need to get it reenergized. Which is another reason we asked MD and Merrick to moderate the forum. We need to give it some CPR over there.
That is the only place where you Clouds can post items that YOU want to post, where it’s not just me and Stephe calling the shots. You think it would be more popular, but alas.

You know what I think one of the problems is. I’m just gonna be honest. Bi has a lot of noona/ajumma fans…..not so much youngins as fans. His fans have grown-up with him and those of us who are fairly new to him, found out about him as older fans. While we noona/ajummas LOVE us some Bi, getting hyped up for stuff has gone by the wayside of our teenage years. I used to lose my mind over MJ in my pre-teen and high school years and Foster Sylvers…me?….forget about it. I was gone. I think these “Cassies” fangirls are out-of-their-minds youngins on K-Pop “crack.” We fans are just of a certain age and think that’s part of why the sustainability is lacking at times.

Boy, my hat is off to these artists when they do English records because it is not easy. Even though I know they’ll have to improve, I still think they worked damned hard and did a fantastic job. I know I would butcher the hell out of some Korean. Thumbs up guys!

Girl JYJ have many songs in english and I’ve come to appreciate their efforts! They’re amazing singers and their dancing is outstanding, specially Junsu. OMG he takes my breath away cuz he’s soo good! At first when you hear them it’s a bit difficult to understand their english but after a while you get their accent. But heck, I have to do the same with many american performers too so it doesn’t bother me at all! Their songs are just beautiful, many written by themselves with amazing vocal arrangments you don’t see very often. These guys are the real deal, they may look too pretty but they’re true musicians. They have thousands of fans in Mexico, Chile, Peru and Brazil. I really hope they can make it in the US market too cuz they deserve it. Rain will get out of the military just in time to get into the korean trend Psy started now. You know, I always wonder what korean performers think about us trying to sing their songs in korean. LMAO!!! I bet they find us amusing! 😀

Mari,
I’m not that into JYJ yet. I’ve tried to listen to them, but I don’t know. It’s not that I think they aren’t good musicians. It’s something about their style–well, I just haven’t been able to put my finger on just why I’m not liking them as much as I do some of the other boy groups. Maybe I’ll figure it out one day. I still do hope they succeed over here in The States though.
Let’s do hope the Korean Wave lasts for Rain. After being gone for 2 years from the limelight, he certainly could use that push.
I always say that I probably sound like I’m drunk, when I sing in Korean. It has to sound totally horrible. LOL. But hey, I don’t care. I’m going to do it anyway.

Mari, “The Beginning” as you know is their first English CD and just like with Rain’s music I didn’t realize I had heard just about every song on the CD. Through YT fan videos and what not, I didn’t know until I looked at the song list on the CD. Like I did with Bi, I’ve gotten to know Micky through his acting more so, then came the music. Now, I agree with you they are beautiful. Micky is just my kind of “pretty”….he’s pretty but still manly (if that makes sense), same with Junsu. Now, Jaejoong is like “other worldly” pretty….it’s scary, but he has the sweetest voice, love his falsetto. Micky….Love his acting….although his singing has to grow on me. He’s an Excellent songwriter/composer though. Junsu, is the best singer of the three and he’s the one that acts like a big kid, but it’s cute how they love on each other. It’s nice to see the camaraderie between them. My favorite song of theirs so far is “Be My Girl” produced by Rodney Jerkins.

I was sick at home with the flu watching tv, don’t remember what it was, when all of the sudden the show was interrupted to show images from the towers. The first one was in flames already and I just watched in total disbelieve how people jumped to their deaths. I was so scared my heart was in my throat and I thought this can’t be happening. Then the second airplane hit with that ball of flames the second tower and right there I thought OMG this is intentional, is a terrorist attack! I started to pray for the people in the towers so they could get out of there on time but then one of the towers begun to fall and I thought my God those people are death! Then the second tower fall and I lost it. I started to cry cuz I knew there was no way those people were going to survive. I never thought those towers were going to fall, I was in total shock. It was a horrible moment, I was alone at home cuz my hubbie was working, my girls were at school so it was very hard. For days I cried while watching the amazing people we lost that terrible day in a few minutes, most of them young and productive with their whole life ahead of them. Also, I cried for the people of New York cuz I used to live there and felt their pain like it was my own.

The family had just finished breakfast and I was finishing getting the kids ready for their day. My Ex was in the bedroom, and when they reported that the first plane had hit the tower, I yelled for him, and he came running into the room.
The kids were distracted and were running around, young enough to be bored by news. My Ex, who is ex-Army, sat down heavily beside me on the sofa, and we watched as the second plane hit the tower. He immediately grabbed my hand and said, “It’s a terrorist attack. No doubt about it.”
We stared in disbelief at each other, but we didn’t show any emotion, because the kids were running around us and we didn’t want to alarm them.
We were both self-employed at the time and worked together in the same office. I was also homeschooling the children back then. So, eventually I had to tell them. All I can say is they learned a lot of history that day.
It was horrible. I will never forget it.

It’s been eleven years. I still remember my boyfriend at the time in the middle of the horror, having to keep his composure and help report the news behind the scenes, wondering if the victims who kept jumping to their deaths were any of his friends. Yet people have the audacity to trivialize what happened that day to boost their ridiculous theories and further their agendas. Today, I remember those who were murdered eleven years ago on September 11 and I make no excuses for their killers.
I was sitting at my desk at work with headphones on that morning, listening to the radio and working like a maniac, when the show’s DJ broke in with the news of the plane hitting the first tower. I ran downstairs with some of my coworkers to the lobby of our building, which had a wall of monitors with all the national news channels playing live. We’d only been standing there mere minutes, it seemed, when we watched the second plane go into the second tower. I cannot describe what I felt. I just sank down to my knees and sat there. I remember saying, “Oh my God. Bin Laden.” People were like, “Who’s Bin Laden?” I think that’s when I started to cry.
