From Stephe’s desk: A Cloudburst, an injury, Rain’s birthday, and lots of goodies.

Hi, all…! Come huddle around and let’s chew the fat for a minute. 🙂

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you what’s coming up near the end of this month—DJ Roller Jung’s 30th birthday in International years!

In Korean years, he ages up with the new year and turned 31 when 2012 rang in. Remember, when it comes to Korean society, it’s all about how many years you’ve actually seen and experienced, not how many you complete like us. One week after he was born on June 25, 1982, he was considered 1 year old as it was the first year of his life (1 week old internationally). Six months later, New Year’s 1983, that was the second year he existed, so he was considered 2 at that time (6 months old internationally, until his first birthday). Then on New Year’s 1984, he was considered 3 (1 year old internationally, until his second birthday in June). And so on.

Let us review: This past January 1, 2012, JiHoon was 31 in Korean age, 29 in International age. On June 25 this month, JiHoon will still be 31 in Korean age, but 30 in International age. Easy-peasy. (Not really. The math still trips me up every now and then LOL)

» [article] How old is Jung JiHoon? What is Korean age?

What Cloud USA was going to do was have a big blowout of a Cloudburst get-together/birthday party for the ol’ guy here in Atlanta right around his birthday, but with Terri’s recent injury, we’ve had to adjust those plans. (Her knee is severely injured, can bear very little weight, keeps her in pain, and may need surgery to correct.) We’re still going to have a Cloudburst and celebrate JiHoon wholeheartedly, but when will depend on how she fares the next few weeks. FYI: We are shooting for Saturday evening, June 30. Please chime in, those of you who are interested in coming! (If that day doesn’t work for you and you have a better one in mind within a week or so, we will take that into consideration, so speak up.) We look forward to seeing you! 🙂

We’ll do a nice birthday tribute for Rain here on the site, and start mulling over what to do for Christmas, so make sure you get your birthday cards and candy and nonperishable treats mailed off to him ASAP, Clouds and dear fans. Make it rain at DEMA! Haha! (It’s still not prudent to send huge masses of gift stuff to him in the military, especially when The Cloud, Benamoo, and DC Rain Gall will surely do so, unless you send the big stuff to RAINY Entertainment’s office.)

The upcoming Atlanta Super Cell Cloudburst has us pretty excited, y’all. Not only will it be a real pleasure to share good food, birthday cake, and all things Rain, but it’s past time to raffle off some cool goodies that we’ve bought and some that were sent to us by dear friends overseas on Rain’s home turf. Like:

Remember Rain Diaries, from RAINY Entertainment. These 7″ x 5″ hardcover planners are the cutest things ever, go through July 2013, and have plenty of places for all your notes. Terri just had to have one and so did I! It only made sense to grab a couple of extras.

Rain 10th Anniversary Celebration full-page ads, paid for out of the Blue 8th Clouds membership treasury and printed in the Kyunghyang News (Seoul). After having a poll and letting us members choose which out of five mock-ups were our favorite, the Korean Cloud execs submitted the winning choice to the newspaper and were kind enough to help some of us not living in Korea purchase this wonderful piece of Rain history. The ad ran in the April 24 edition, on page 7, and detailed the highlights of his 10-year career to the public. Gorgeous.

RAIN The Best Show Korea Tour goods. Unforeseen things have happened between now and last Christmas to curtail our giveaways a bit… so we still have some awfully cute stuff that was purchased for us at his concert in Seoul. It’s just a matter of deciding which things in this stash to give away and what to keep in the Cloud USA vault…

LOL! We’ve even got VIPS Rain place mats from a VIPS restaurant over in South Korea. I didn’t realize this until yesterday. Goodness. My mind must have been off in another world somewhere the day Terri told me, whenever that was. LMAO!

I’m not even going to get into the posters (Fugitive: Plan B posters that KBS America kindly offered to us, double-sided Nature Republic posters sent from Shanghai, etc… gracious me). And so, depending on how many people come Cloudburstin’, we need to share some of this wealth and have a good ol’ rip-roaring raffle/giveaway. You think? 😀

Well, that’s all for now, peeps. Please don’t forget to get your birthday greetings off to Rain and to send Terri all the good vibes and well wishes you can muster. She can really use them right now.

Tah!

  9. The last time we e-mailed each other I truly meant to tell you to wish Terri a speedy recovery. I don’t know where my mind is most of the time. (smile) I would love to be a part of the next meeting and that weekend would be great for a couple of reasons. One of course is to see you guys again and the other is that it happens to be my birthday. If everything goes well with the plans, this will be a nice birthday treat to myself. Send Terri my love and concern for her recovery.

  10. Ooh Terri, I feel for ya lady….I know pain believe me….you take care of that knee and yourself!

As far as Bi’s true age, I’mma say he’s 30….”Something” and call it a day. I think that’ll cover the whole decade. (SMILES) I’m too “young” to be that confused. Besides, anything even remotely “resembling” a math problem gives me chills. (SMILES)

Wow, having your Cloudburst on June 30 would be nice (my mom’s B-day)….anyway. I Hope you ladies have lots and lots of fun! (SMILES)

I’m trying like heck to baby this thing, but it’s tough. I managed to stay off of it for 3 solid days, but not until the 2nd time I injured it. But that’s really all the time I could take off of work.

I have it propped up here at work too, and I’m icing it too. But I still have to do a moderate amount of walking here. It can’t be helped, as I’m a site admin and everything I do requires me to “get up and go help somebody.” LOL.

All I can say is ya’ll better take care of your knees, all right? Cause this knee injury thing sucks big wind. Let me tell you.

Happy birthday to you’re mom, too. Wish you could join us for the Cloudburst. We’re gonna have lots of fun.

      Terri :-}
