-The scene of Rain being interviewed for Defense Agency for Public Information Services’ support group position on 23 February 2012.

0:15~0:40
[Rain] : All of my work experience is relevant, and as long as I can be of assistance to South Korea’s defense in any way and it can really work because of me, I think that’s a wise move and I think I can actively achieve something.

0:43~48
[Rain] : Chung Sung! (Loyalty!)
This is Pfc Jung Ji Hoon in charge of the promotion for the Defense Ministry.

0:54
Becoming Pfc Jung Ji Hoon, world star Rain is transferred to Defense Agency for Public Information Services.

0:58~1:23
Q 1: How are you doing after your being transferred in?

[Rain] : I was serving as a teaching assistant before, but now I’m serving as one member of a support group in Defense Agency for Public Information Services after my first/second term as teaching assistant, and I’m really excited by the thought of being able to help many soldiers.

1:25~2:27
Q 2 : You were specially promoted one rank after you were selected as an ultra warrior. How did that make you feel?

[Rain] : I think that [as a] Korean under obligation to protect the country, young men must go to army. For this reason, I adapted quickly to the new circumstance from the first and I passed the training courses well, and the reason why I tried to be an ultra warrior was because I wanted to get a reward vacation probably like everyone else. Actually, I’m not much of a hand at long-distance running. But deciding to bite the bullet, I obtained a good result in running even though [it felt as if my guts were falling out of me while doing it. — Stephe ^@@^] As a result, I became an ultra warrior. I think I have a genius for shooting to some, fortunately. I was accepted as a good shot, that’s why I became an ultra warrior. I had not suffered in vain and had a wonderful time.

2:29~2:49
Q 3: What were you thinking on the first day of your enlistment?

[Rain] : During my term for duty, I had a lot on my mind thinking I would be loyal to my own country as a soldier, not as one of the ordinary people. [the way a soldier would rather than as a civilian — S.^@@^] So it was not too hard to get adjusted to the military.

2:50~3:25
Q 4: What do you remember the most while being trained?

[Rain] : I remember everything in minute detail. I’d like to talk to you about a couple of things. There was a sense of comradeship between us. Especially, while soldiers belonging to the 2nd and 3rd recruit training centers were making a long march over 100 kilometers of road, I was able to confirm their teamwork and fragile bond in times of trouble. I have many memories like that.

3:27~4:42
Q 5: In what way were those teaching assistants selected? How did you feel during your work as a teaching assistant?

[Rain] : It is possible for all soldiers to apply to the position, but only those who could be in the position usually are recruited after being interviewed. At first I thought it would be easy to teach others, but I am sure it was the hardest work among the departments because I had to set a good example to recruits while taking a couple of months course in a study on assistant teaching. I had to pass the examination to get credit for the course. Even though I put on a badge showing that my being a teaching assistant was credited, I had to keep studying, and I had to go to bed a couple of hours later or get up an hour earlier, contrary to others. The position was obtained with much difficulty because I had to set a good example to recruits.

4:44~5:10
Q 6: Tell me how you have changed since the enlistment?

[Rain] : I have a newfound sense of patriotism, I feel as if I have to fulfill military duty spontaneously, and the thought of doing a good thing fills me with pride.

5:12~5:38
Q 7 : What kind of work do you want to do in the field?

[Rain] : I made a career for myself in singing and acting in society before my enlistment, but it can be a good experience to be the host of a radio program by becoming a DJ here. I’d like to be the host of a radio program if time allows despite my busy schedule.

Q 8: Lastly, what do you want to tell your fans?

[Rain] : As a member of the support group, I’ll tell many people about what soldiers are doing and how their work is rewarding, and I’ll be Pfc Jung Ji Hoon who gives you lots of support (or who is your pride and joy).

5:58~
We have great expectations about his remarkable activities in future.

  1. Thanks for posting the english subtitles!!!! I loved the entire interview!! I cracked up laughing at this part:

“Actually, I’m not much of a hand at long-distance running. But deciding to bite the bullet, I obtained a good result in running even though [it felt as if my guts were falling out of me while doing it].”

I mean he is so honest and to the point. I think some people would of not admitted that they felt like their guts were falling out after completing the run. They would of just received all the praise for it and acted like they were the man if you know what I am saying. Rain is so funny!

  2. Oh to see him and hear his voice again: Priceless! Sighhh I’m so excited with this new “job” Baby Boo is starting. You know we probably will see him in a stage soon for those boys! I don’t think the Defence Agency is gonna miss this opportunity! Anyway, I’m just thrilled to see him again! Baby seems happy, in peace with this new role and he looks amazing so I’m happy for him. 😀

  3. I don’t know about y’all, but I absolutely cracked up at JiHoon seeming to casually put a plug in for being a radio DJ when he had to be serious as a heart attack about it.

Lots of guys are always at his concerts and appearances, but the vast majority are women and let’s face it, when he dances, he puts it out there ALL FOR US GIRLS. He does not want to be doing anything even close to “One” when the guys he serves with are already fan-girling like mofos.

    ROFLMAO

Aw, go ahead and hit a few notes for ’em. You know they’ve already planned to throw you on stage, ain’t no getting out of that. Luv ya, Boo.
