[Cloud USA] Rain is in MTV World Cup of Rock’s Final 4…

… but will he be advancing out of this semi-final round and into the coveted Championship match?

He won’t be, if we don’t get on the ball!  The fans behind Carlos Santana are not messing around.  (And I suspect that rogue fans from eliminated teams may just be trying to help Mexico show Rain the door.  Are we going to stand for that?)

Final 4 percentages, IN PROGRESS until 11:59 pm EST on Thursday, July 8

Match-up #1: RAIN (S. Korea) 88% versus Santana (Mexico) 12%

Match-up #2: Tokio Hotel (Germany) 97% versus AC/DC (Australia) 3%

— 8:40 pm EST 7/7

» The MTV Newsroom blog’s World Cup of Rock coverage.

As far as we’re concerned, no one should be voting on the S.Korea/Uruguay match anymore.  That was to determine who went to the Final 4, and as you all can see, Rain is in the Final 4 and Uruguay is not.  That match is DONE.  Concentrate all of your efforts on S.Korea/Mexico so that Rain gets to the Championship match on Friday.

After coming this far, Rain and the Tae-Guk warriors cannot be eliminated.  Our Ji-Hoon and his K-colleagues have indeed made South Korea the rocking-est place on the planet, right?  Do they not rock your world?  Rain isn’t just an amazing Korean talent, but an amazing worldwide talent.  Several American artists know and admire him, and he would bring so much to the American music scene.  One really good English ballad from him, with that voice… and folks will be jumping on the bandwagon like crazy people.

Onward!

  1. They need to leave our boy Rain and the SK team alone and play fair u know.

  2. Ok.. something is defintely going on and it’s confusing the heck out of me! SK was losing, and I was once again panicking, but hey, like our beloved, I persevered and continued voting. And then all of the sudden SK surged to 87%? Defintely something dubious is going on for sure.

  3. If that is what’s happening, I for one appreciate MTV’s efforts.

    • FYI,

I left a quiet message on MTV.com’s technical support page, asking them about the issue. It was a pretty kind message, so as of a few minutes ago, they had not deleted it.

We will see if anyone answers. (Not holding my breath.)

  4. I’m repeating a comment I made in another post.

If the techies at MTV.com are busy behind the scenes fighting the hackers, then that could also be why the number of votes keep moving up and down at so rapid a rate.

They fix the problem and clean up the votes and then the hackers come back. And they have to keep doing that over and over again.

    Wouldn’t that job be a b**ch? Argh.

Hackers are a nasty piece of work, and if that is what is happened to poor MTV, then somebody PLEASE bring them some coffee!

  5. So far Clouds, South Korea is winning and it has been soooooooo easy for me to vote without even refreshing. But, for the first time, I just got the funniest message, *We have received too many votes from you. You will be unblocked after a cooling off period*

LOL sadness, I have been using my off-days well it seems. Saranghae Rain. I now truly know that this must be what it feels like to be a fan. 😀

      • It is absolutely amazing and I couldn’t find a better person to draw me in like Rain has. My friends don’t understand it and this is why I appreciate this site because there are people here to share.

        • Likewise, likewise. I can’t believe I am even logging on before leaving the house to work to check on the poll status and put through a few more votes and when at work can’t wait to go home to continue voting. My family and friends do not understand it either.

  7. This poll thing is very disturbing.

I don’t know what’s happening, but I’m now seeing fans of OTHER countries complaining about fast rising vote counts and being locked out of voting. The only reason I’m still voting at all is because I don’t want to see South Korea totally annihilated.

I don’t want Rain to lose, but with all the machinations going on, I’m afraid this one may be a lost cause.

So depressing. Ah well, lemme go vote anyway…

    • I have been voting like crazy and I am able to vote basically without refreshing. I always have the page up so that I can vote whenever I have a chance. I notice that when I go back after a little while and vote again that the numbers have been changing.

It is weird though that sometimes Mexico is winning with 70% or so and then when I go back South Korea has 70%-80% and is winning. I’m not sure how the numbers are changing to fast.

    • I was able to vote quite a bit but I guess it took a little longer for me to get that message because I did not vote for an hour straight but I never strayed from the website either.
